Heather's hotel set was just two walls and some furniture. But it worked in that context, although that hideous fake/floral lamp set up perched on stool was a big mistake.
So that sort of setup could be used effectively for an office for various characters - eg Vanessa, Isaiah or to depict part of the Dupree den etc. See , it can be done!

I'm pretty sure Becky Lee and the aborted Drew/Rachel pitch with the R.J. whodunit was his last stuff. He talked about it and his plans for the racism story/interracial romance on one of his fansites or his official site in the late '90s or early 2000s, before he returned to the show IIRC.

I can never remember if Malone or Laiman/Sloane/Passanante were headwriting at that time.
I noticed that when Becky Lee returned for Bo's Weekend at Drew's moment, she was reverted to her old personality.
(it took me about 7 times to post this!)

Paramount/Skydance/CBS merged 2025; might acquire Warner/Discovery/HBO/CNN in 2026

George Cheeks to be in charge of more!
That is (maybe) the only good thing happening? George Cheeks championed BeyondTheGates, and the portrait on the wall in the Fairmont Crest club set (supposedly Vernon Dupree's father Paul Cheeks Dupree) is actually a portrait of George Cheeks' real-life father Paul Cheeks.

https://deadline.com/2026/10/skydance-tv-studios-george-cheeks-wbtv-cbs-studios-ptvs-1237145674/
quoting some article excerpts:

Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg are poised to oversee Skydance’s movie studios, Warner Bros and Paramount
HBO’s Casey Bloys in line to run the streaming combo of HBO Max and Paramount+.
Chair of TV Media George Cheeks, would be doing the same with the combined company’s three TV studios, sources said.
As part of his current portfolio, Cheeks oversees CBS Studios, something he has done since joining then-ViacomCBS in 2020, with CBS Studios President David Stapf reporting to him.
Nellie Andreeva of Deadline says: "I hear he will now add oversight of Warner Bros Television and Paramount Television Studios, with Channing Dungey, currently Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros Television Group and US Networks, and PTVS President Matt Thunell both staying on and reporting to him."
It is part of a role expansion for Cheeks post-merger, which is said to also include some sort of oversight of cable brands on the WBD side. (According to the settlement with the 12 state attorneys general, “Paramount and Warner Brothers are required to continue negotiating their cable packages separately.”) In his current post, Cheeks oversees all linear Paramount networks, including CBS (entertainment, sports and news), MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET.
While he comes from a legal/business background, Cheeks is known for his creative involvement in the brands he oversees. (He is credited with identifying the franchise potential of CBS’ Fire Country, for example.) In addition to being in charge of CBS Studios for the past six years, Cheeks’ TV studio experience includes a stint as Vice Chairman, NBCUniversal Content Studios.

David Ellison has chosen Ynon Kreiz to be his co-CEO of the combined/merged Skydance entity.

Ynon Kreiz is an Israeli-American businessman who was the CEO of Mattel until today when this was announced.

Y&R: Jamey Giddens & Dan O'Connor named co-head writers

I’d love to see Sharon and Nick at the main house on the ranch. Give Sharon’s cottage a glow up and have Faith move there or something. Nikki and Victor could go into retirement but drop in every now and then to make sure everything is in order and add some conflict.
Even though I see Nick and Sharon as the next head of the family, doesn’t mean I need them to hog air time either. Let Faith be the new young heroine on the show. Start giving these kids front burner stories. (Like others have mentioned for Johnny, Katie, Charlie, Mattie etc)

I remember parts of this. It was like a different character.

They made Devon/Abby recurring and that works out OK-we see them from time to time .So I would be happy for Mariah/Tessa to be the same.
Sharon recurring could work if she was a presence at CL (please give that place a glow up and some customers)
If Faith returned that would give Sharon more to do as well as being talk to at CL.
Let's hope the new writers can make some positive impact. Anything is going to be better than what we have been subjected to these past few years.

Billy and Sharon would be tops on my list to drop. Maybe Sharon could get the Kate Linder contract. Their characters are pretty interchangeable at this point.
