Here we are celebrating the longest scripted show in television history, 60 years for GH, and it was almost canceled 3 separate times! In 1979 & Douglas Marland & Gloria Monty saved it. In 2012 when Brian Frons announced the cancelations of AMC & OLTL he was all set to cancel all 3, the whole ABC soap line-up & he didn't because he was fond of Jill & of Guza. Not sure why whichever site you're quoting (link maybe?) has it at 2.55 million. That said, yes, it did better than the show itself. Which hopefully proves a point to the network.
