B&B to air classic episodes

Now that CBS is going to air actual classic episodes it's time for a thread.

I guess May 4 is not a Stephanie Forrester week, but a best weddings week:

Then, as THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL comes down the aisle, storylines will include:

On Monday, May 4, Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo) desperately attempts to escape from Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) to let Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) know that she’s alive, while Ridge and Brooke (Lang) have their epic first wedding in front of friends… and foes on the beautiful beach in Point Dume, Calif. The episode originally aired Sept. 30, 1994.

On Tuesday, May 5, Steffy (Wood) and Liam (Clifton) are wed in front of the iconic Opera House on the glorious Sydney, Australia harbor. While the ceremony progresses in front of family and friends, Wyatt (Darin Brooks) eases his sorrows over his brother’s marriage to his ex-wife with several drinks. The episode originally aired March 22, 2017.

On Wednesday, May 6, Katie (Tom), the only woman to have ever stolen Dollar Bill's (Diamont) heart, walks down the aisle to become Mrs. William Spencer, Jr., with her sisters at her side, at the San Fernando Valley home where she was raised. Legendary CBS star Patrick Duffy (“Dallas”) guest stars as Katie’s father, Stephen Logan. The episode originally aired Nov. 13, 2009.

On Thursday, May 7, Eric Forrester (McCook) and Brooke Logan (Lang) say “I Do” as Eric’s ex-wife, Stephanie (Susan Flannery), and Brooke’s true love, Ridge (Kaye), watch without objection. Eric then takes Brooke on a romantic and surprise honeymoon in a magnificent hot-air balloon in Palm Springs, Calif. The episode originally aired Jan. 8, 1991.

Wrapping up on Friday, May 8: Having overcome astounding obstacles, Hope (Kim Matula, in a role currently played by Annika Noelle) and Liam (Scott Clifton) joyously say “I Do” in front of family, friends, and the many residents of the beautiful city of Puglia, Italy. Frustrated and brokenhearted, Steffy (Wood) updates Eric (McCook) and Stephanie (Flannery) on the dramatic events transpiring in Puglia. The episode originally aired June 26, 2012.

Ronn Moss again? Wow!

Agree. I thought RM's acting got progressively worse as the 1990s went on.

Lol I suppose that rumor of Moss being digitally removed in favor of Kaye not happening is impressive. And yes, Moss got terribly lazy and got even worse in the 00’s. He was like B&B’s version of Drake Hogestyn, except worse!

That 1991 honeymoon episode was over-the-top soap romance schmaltz. LOL I'm guessing that was a hit in 1991, as we winded down from the opulence of the 80's, but boy that was pure cheese.

I liked the Stephanie/Ridge scenes because at the time, it was the first go-around of swapping partners and people marrying daddy figures and whatnot, which would go on to become a B&B staple, but at the beginning it was escandalo!

I actually found yesterday's show boring. There was nothing great about it.

I believe this must have been just about it for Lauren on B&B as she would just fizzle out in typical Thudley fashion and would be offscreen until making some appearances on Y&R with really short hair in 2000 for the Glow by Jabot story and then officially moved back to Genoa City in 2001.

Thorsten Kaye will never be Ridge.

Did you have other ideas for a Ridge recast or should the character have remained off the canvas? Some names I read thrown around online were Peter Reckell and J. Eddie Peck, but who knows whether Bradley Bell approached either of them.

Bill Bell already had a father/son triangle on Y&R w/ Jill/John/Jack so Brooke/Eric/Ridge wasn't that scandalous or shocking.

she makes a few random recurring appearances on BnB in '99, just popping up to provide fashion advice

I was disappointed they let Lauren kind of fade away like that especially after how much was given to build up Eric & Lauren while also giving Stephanie a good run for her money. I do wonder if it was Bregman’s  decision to go down to recurring given that was her later preference, I don’t remember for sure.

LOL Yeah, it was good for the time.

And they sure played the hell outta their theme song with those beauty shots!

Yes, but we're talking Forrester world!

Before Brooke went on to Thorne, her daughter's hubby, plus Taylor's bedhopping, Rick's bedhopping, Eric's bedhopping...  I'm still waiting for Eric and Katie Logan to tie the knot eventually.

Lol I thought that was where Thudley was going before bringing Sheila back a few years ago.

But seriously I remember 20 years ago on the old Jump the Shark website some voted the show had jumped the shark because Brooke became Reva Shayne. That person wasn’t wrong at all, but it’s beyond ridiculous that Rick Forrester would grow up to fall in love with Phoebe and Taylor of all people.

I think these two episodes are probably the best I've seen from Moss.

The first clip is one of the few times I have actually seen him be able to actually squeeze out some real tears smh

He was a terrible actor. Probably one of the worst but he is Ridge.....

So true! He's Ridge to me. Even after all these years, I still have a hard time accepting his replacement...just seems like a completely different character to me.

B&B works different than most shows. With B&B you had the big four Brooke/Ridge/Eric/Stephanie. You couldn’t touch those four. If Ronn Moss didn’t want to do it anymore, they should have killed him off.

Absolutely. He was Ridge for 25 years ! A quarter of century ! How can you recast such a role? Of course Thorsten Kaye is a better actor but I can’t picture him as Ridge at all.

Ridge was your quintessential pretty boy. Thorsten Kaye was cute for 3 years in the 90s, he's rugged and weathered and doesn't look like the scion of a world-renowned fashion house. He looks unkempt and disheveled and out of place on B&B. A total misfire of a recast and I think they actually know that, I don't think the show is at all invested in him as Ridge but he's there so they're going to keep chugging along until he quits (unlikely) or the show ends.
