Interesting this aired on my birthday that year LOL but more interesting this will be the first time I see Aldrich since she first aired as Victoria (she wasn’t good but material of her brief time has been extremely scarce) was pretty much gone by months end.

so the Feb 19, 1996 Nick and Sharon wedding was rebroadcast in 2001? I didn't see it either time.  I'm curious about the *other* storylines in that episode. I've seen references to it on various messageboards, but the conversations were assuming you'd already seen it, so I don't know the context.  I gather that there is a Christine/Danny scene and a Dina scene, but I don't know what they are about.

Is there a recap or video of the rest of the epi?

MAB era was such trash, my goodness. I remember all the soaps being so at this point but I couldn't even stomach her stuff. In hindsight I get that she was going for the 80s slight psycho thriller feel but everything about her execution was putrid. She filled the show with bad stunt casting and wrecked so many long term roles with bad stories. For me this era is the worst of the worst.

Destruction of Jana

Sharon stuck to pervert Adam like a battered woman

Badly SORASed legacy characters

I do miss the production value of the sets though. JFP is the one who hacked that down.

Today was so awful. So they thought Adam killed Skye, but then Sharon finds her alive, but of course she was away from her group but then ends up pushing Skye into the volcano anyway so now Sharon is the murderer and still can't prove Adam is innocent? And Jana has now forgiven Daisy and wants to take her baby and then lets her go because Kevin is with Chloe? And Abby can't go two seconds without mentioning getting naked? This was such utter trash. I was watching then, but I had blocked out these horrible storylines.

@janea4old Here is the rebroadcast of Nick & Sharon's wedding:

You know as much as y'all are complaining...let us a take a moment and look at how CBS was calling a 5 year old episode a "classic" in 2001. Yeah we're not getting episodes from the 70s or early 80s but a bunch of these eps have been at least 20 years old.

Thank you. I didn’t get into Y&R until sometime when Phick were already married. I’m loving all the actual episodes that are 15 years and older. I’ve never seen any of the replays people are complaining about so this has been great for me.

But you should take into account that there was no YouTube in 2001. Also, Nick and Sharon’s wedding was immediately a classic not because of time but because it was treated with reverence and seen as epic.

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.  These episodes aren't consecutive, but if you ever have time, they are worth a watch. They are bits and pieces from January and April of 1979 - April in and out of prison, her past calling to her via her psychic powers (and the suicide of Miles' wife Denise, who had murder framing in mind). April 1979 has the end of Winter Austen (such a fantastic soap name).  I don't want to drop a ton of links but you can find playlists on Youtube.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
