My mom used to give my dad a B-complex thing the she called "stress formula", a combination of B vitamins (and perhaps other vitamins or minerals added) that help you offset stress. This was way back in the 1960s and it was not a brand name, just my mom's name for it. I never forgot that. Now I purchase "fortified" nutritional yeast and sprinkle it on food. Has a nice "umami" taste and is great on popcorn instead of cheese. Fyi, a few years back you suggested magnesium glycinate and it has really helped me, so thanks for that.

Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes (Data and Riker from Star Trek) have a podcast called "Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny", in which the guests discuss various famous people they've interacted with through the years. [Frakes is married to Genie Francis.]. The Feb. 26, 2026 episode of their podcast is called "Once we all were spacemen" because the guests are Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk who have also been in sci-fi series, so they talk about that some. At about 18:50, soap operas come into the conversation. Nathan Fillion talks about being cast on Firefly and randomly encountering Jonathan Frakes at a restaurant; and he recognizes Frakes from Star Trek -- but also because Frakes was with his wife Genie Francis, whom recognized due to Fillion’s past on OLTL. Fillion talks about playing Joey Buchanan on OLTL (says jokingly he was the "best Joey") and his first interaction with Phil Carey (Asa), which is quite interesting. (Carey mentions the prior Joey's exit). Brent Spiner says he played a kind nerd who was john of Judith Light’s Karen Wolek on OLTL, and how he reappeared in the same role a year later, being kind to Karen and she wanted to give him the money back. He says what a phenomenal actor Judith was and how she could cry a tear on cue. He mentions that Kathy Bates was a guest star the same time he was there. Fyi, @slick jones -- IMDB says Spiner was in one OLTL episode. But he says here that it was two episodes -- one was the year after the other. Jonathan Frakes mentions being on The Doctors – his character was a troubled Vietnam War veteran who was a childbeater. For the scifi/soap connection, they all bring up John DeLancie (Q from Star Trek) being on DAYS. And mention Arleen Sorkin.

April 16, 2026 Cecelia Specht (Dr. Lia Whitmore) interviewed by WJTV 12 News reporter Kayla Thompson. Some spoilers from near the end of the interview: "I'm most excited for something really thrilling that's going to happen in May, about mid to late May. It's something, as a woman I was like, ‘I get to be a part of that?’ It's not traditionally something a mature woman would be part of. A lot of action happens and a lot of drama. And you're gonna wonder and be concerned about some of your favorite characters." For filming this, one of the days was "an 18-hour day and it was thrilling to be there."

BTG is fully preempted for the 2026 UEFA Champions League semifinals (European soccer live). The semifinals are Tues, April 28, Wed. April 29, Tues. May 5, and Wed. May 6. BTG is fully preempted in USA and Canada on the soccer dates, and with nothing new uploaded online. (Hopefully Canada gets the memo). The matches are broadcast live in the European evenings which happens to be USA daytime. There is a one-hour pre-match show "UEFA Champions League Today", and then the two-hour match "UEFA Champions League Soccer", to make a solid 3-hour block of soccer programming on CBS broadcast TV. B&B and Y&R will be disrupted in Western time zones of USA on those dates, but will still officially air with new episodes. When Jackie Zeman died, I really liked how GH wrote in Bobbie's death. That several-day arc was some of the best soap I've seen in years. I cry just remembering it. Ryan Carnes came back very briefly as Lucas for this. They wrote it that Bobbie hadn't been around because she had been secretly helping women escaping trafficking in Europe, and then passed away. Carly and Felicia followed the clues and learned the truth, and also GH had the original BJ Jones child actress, now an adult, * same actress!!! * return as a seemingly-real documentarian writing about Bobbie, but who was actually an angel. And Felicia and Maxie figuring it out at the end, with Maxie putting her hand over her own heart (BJ's heart). It felt like a great nod to Bobbie and Ruby's history, written from a modern-day perspective, yet redeemed with Bobbie's work to help other women escape the life. Wonderful.

I was watching the show live all those years ago. I had no soap mags and it was before internet and VCRs were invented -- so no way to watch if I missed a day or learn what I missed. I did discuss the soaps with my older sister around 1969. But by the time Ruby and Bobbie were regular characters, my older sister was out of the house, and nobody else I knew in real life watched soaps. I don't think I even knew Ruby was a former madam, or that she was the one who had originally put Bobbie to work as a sex worker (trafficked her). I just knew Ruby as a warm woman who seemed to have had a hard life, who ran Kelly's with love. I didn't learn Ruby's backstory until decades later.
