I was watching the show live all those years ago. I had no soap mags and it was before internet and VCRs were invented -- so no way to watch if I missed a day or learn what I missed. I did discuss the soaps with my older sister around 1969. But by the time Ruby and Bobbie were regular characters, my older sister was out of the house, and nobody else I knew in real life watched soaps. I don't think I even knew Ruby was a former madam, or that she was the one who had originally put Bobbie to work as a sex worker (trafficked her). I just knew Ruby as a warm woman who seemed to have had a hard life, who ran Kelly's with love. I didn't learn Ruby's backstory until decades later.

In canon, they have established (via Lynette) that Hayley has used more than one name; although we don't know for certain what is her birth name. In canon, we know that Hayley got to know Naomi, when Hayley was * claiming * to be a young adult orphan waif named Hayley Lawson - an adult waif persona. It has not been established where Naomi and Hayley first met? But I think she wanted Bill so she pretended to befriend Naomi. Dani and Naomi "took her in" to the family -- but not as a child -- they didn't adopt/foster her -- they took her into the family circle, something like starting with inviting her to dinner, then more regular visits. Hayley got Dani to mentor her and gradually subtly influenced Dani to convince Bill to hire her. I honestly don't remember if they said (in canon) when Hayley got paralegal training, if it was something Dani pushed or if it was something she already knew -- I think Dani arranged for Hayley to be certified or whatever or maybe take a class? My memory on this is foggy. Now here is what I'm only imagining in my head canon: I'm going to * speculate/assume * that Hayley had already crafted a fake background in legal work. She had knowledge of legal stuff from her years as a con artist. She might actually be 10 years older than she pretends to be? ? This would all be part of her long goal of using Bill as her mark. Just my guesses.

I have very very dim memories of over 50 years ago, watching Paul Martin and Anne Tyler on live TV. Of the actresses playing Anne, I probably saw more than one, but honestly don't remember. I do remember Anne being sad a lot.

Oh took me a minute to realize you were saying the * actor * Nathan (playing Ethan). At first I thought you meant the character Nathan and was totally confused. LOL, silly me. So they cut Nathan/Ethan's hair, but didn't cut JJ/Lucky's hair. Wonder what that's about. There's a new incoming cast member whose name I won't say on this nonspoiler thread, but I noticed that the GH show's official social media account made a point of commenting how that actor looks "sexy" with his new hairstyle (link to spoiler). I don't think I've ever seen the show comment before on men's hairstyles being sexy?

Several pages back on this thread, there was discussion of TJ. Just wanted to add my input - yeah that was disrespect shown by the show simply ceasing to air him without a mention. At least Bobby Martin was said to be up in the attic looking for skis, and Don Craig went to mail a letter. Was there ever any mention of TJ when he exited? I am reading here that TJ was mentioned last week re: Jordan in the hospital. Where is TJ supposedly now? Also want to add: When Willow had cancer and was pregnant with Amelia, she got close to TJ (while he was coordinating her medical care), and she asked him to keep her diagnosis secret for a while. It was platonic but seemed to have the potential for more. I wonder how Willow/TJ would have played out.

I didn't either when he began on Y&R. Took me a while to notice it. And even once I knew, I often erred.

Unlike most people with the name, he spells his name "Conner" ending in "er" instead of ending in "or". I don't now how many gazillion times I started misspelling it when he was on Y&R. What made it even more confusing was that there's a Y&R * character * Connor Newman (Adam's son), and the character's name is spelled with "or".
