I would much prefer to see Tony's acting featured. Scenes with JJ's Lucky. Luke/Robert scenes. Luke/Bobbie scenes. Maybe even a scene with Helena. I loathed the Luke/Laura pairing. Loathed it. I don't want to see it again. If they show some of the Luke/Laura stuff, I can simply choose not to watch those days.- R.I.P.: Anthony Geary has passed away

I prefer the new rectangular new section icons, too. Besides being too big, the rounded ones had "OTL" for "off-topic lounge", and for a split second each day, I would think I saw "OLTL" , and then realize it was "OTL". I was going to suggest, that if you must have initials, then use "O/T" instead of "OTL". But the new blue rectangular icons with words as titles are much much better.- R.I.P.: Anthony Geary has passed away

https://x.com/BarackObama/status/2000442913885712602 BarackObama Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread

NYTimes regarding his wife Michele Singer Reiner, who was a photographer One day, she visited the New York set of the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally…” and was watching a scene in which Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s lovesick characters argue with each other when Mr. Reiner, the film’s director, spotted her in the distance. “I look over and I see this girl, and ‘Whoo!’ I was attracted immediately,” he told The New York Times in 1989, recalling the pair’s meeting. A few months later, the photographer and director married — and their relationship inspired Mr. Reiner to change the ending of his most famous movie. “Originally, Harry and Sally didn’t get together,” he told the Guardian in 2018. “But then I met Michele and I thought: ‘OK, I see how this works.’” Harry and Sally had to marry each other, too.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread

tr*mp continues to be horrific from the nytimes link with live updates about Rob Reiner: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/12/15/us/rob-michele-reiner-dead?unlocked_article_code=1.808.vCxj.TQmQs5NV070s&smid=url-share Although there is no evidence that the stabbing deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were at all connected to his Democratic politics, President Trump seized on their deaths to attack the Hollywood couple, suggesting that their criticism of him may have led to the killings. The president wrote on Truth Social that the couple’s deaths were “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.” Trump’s post led to immediate outrage, even from some fellow Republicans. “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered,” Representative Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, wrote on social media. “I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it.” ____________- RIP: In Memoriam Thread

Quoting full bluesky thread for posterity Namdor I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes. Given he was one of my favorite directors of all time, I couldn’t believe my luck. I chatted him up for over an hour, and he shared behind the scenes insights from Princess Bride, Stand by Me, All in the Family, basically indulged me warmly and graciously. But what was amazing is he asked me Almost as many questions about me as I did about him. Eventually the campaign came and moved him around. A couple hours later, they announced the celebrities were leaving and we all applauded and waved goodbye. They all walked out. A few minutes later someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was Rob, saying he just wanted to say goodbye and how much he enjoyed our chat. I stood up to shake his hand and he gave me a big hug and said something so profoundly kind to me about something I shared with him. I’ll never forget his warmth and unpretentiousness. Rob Reiner was the proverbial mensch. May he and his wife rest in peace. His memory will always be a blessing to me from that one small interaction we had. I’m sure he touched people’s lives like this everywhere he went. We’ll miss him. Don’t know if anyone will read this, but I had to get it out. What a beautiful human being.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
from abcnews Rob Reiner first became famous on the Norman Lear television sitcom "All in the Family." ""The Lear Family is devastated by the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner,” the statement shared with ABC News began. “Norman often referred to Rob as a son, and their close relationship was extraordinary, to us and the world,” the family’s statement said. “Norman would have wanted to remind us that Rob and Michele spent every breath trying to make this country a better place, and they pursued that through their art, their activism, their philanthropy, and their love for family and friends.” "Lyn Lear had remained very close with them and said, ‘The world is unmistakably darker tonight, and we are left bereft,’” the Lear family statement added. Lyn Lear is Norman Lear's widow. _________________ Norman Lear, who died at the age of 101 in 2023, talked about Reiner in his 2014 memoir, “Even This I Get to Experience.” “To be alone with Rob Reiner is to be in a crowd. His brain and his mouth, like a chain of Chinese firecrackers, are firing constantly,” Lear wrote. “If that sounds like I'm describing a pain in the a--, nothing could be further from the truth. Rob was like that when I fell in love with him as a nine-year-old teaching my daughter Ellen to play jacks. What was great about Rob was that the person, the actor, the director, the friend, the participant, the activist, the star, the husband, and the father all came from the center of his being.”- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
