Members Legacy
Its almost like a punishment them returning with bad repetitive material that will make people hate the show forever.
Members Vee
And after months of classic episodes which educate people about the real Y&R and make this show look exactly like what it is: A pathetic shell of a knockoff of a bad years ABC soap. Members Faulkner
I see those comments all over Twitter and Facebook from people unfamiliar with Y&R’s past. They see the difference, even from those scattershot samples. In some ways, GH was smart to avoid real classics.
Members Darn
That's likely exactly why they did. Frank didn't want anyone to see what the show once was. It would reflect badly on him.
Members Soap-princess
I agree with this. Even Bold barely pushed the envelope on classics probably for the same reason. After reading the spoilers, I need to go back to what I was doing before COVID: not watching. I really can’t believe how bad the production value has fallen since even 2009. The sets looks so much like GH and the lighting has become atrocious. Edited August 5, 2020 by Soap-princess
Members Faulkner
I wonder if Griffith/Morina are delusional enough to believe their output stands shoulder to shoulder with the glories of old Y&R. I hope not.
Members Aback
Yeah I wonder what kind of cognitive bias disorder they would need in order to believe that.
Members BetterForgotten
My feeling is someone at CBS selected these classic Y&R episodes, not Morina/Griffith. Those two have been strangely silent this whole time (while Brad Bell and Velentini haven’t been). They seem like puppets for the network anyway. Members Soap-princess
I’m sure if Griffith/Morina selected shows we would have definitely seen more post 2006 classic shows than we did. Members Antoyne
I’m so not looking forward to seeing the modern look of Y&R.
Members Chatty Cakes
I don’t want to see the odd love scenes ala Bold and Beautiful. Nick and Phyllis can be seen going to the bedroom and shutting the door Viewers get that they are constantly in heat. We don’t need to see how the sausage is made. Members Michele Soap Writer
we already have the two dullest characters together: Mariah and Tessa LMAO A time jump would have been a great idea! They should have done that
Members Faulkner
Let’s be real: all the characters on this show are dull as currently written. Maybe Jess Walton’s limited appearances offer an exception.
Members Chris B
You’re 100% correct. Before Covid ratings were tanking, now to hear CBS talked to them about the direction of the show and B&B returning with such huge ratings loses they need to do better than coming back with the same scripts with some damn social distancing. Both Bell soaps need to be in crisis mode and do something to get their ratings up. For Y&R that’s bringing back Victoria Rowell. Idk what B&B could do, but both need to do something. Members ajsp35801
Supposedly, during the break, according to JG, Sony, CBS and the writers came together in informal calls to drill in about characters, the canvas and identity of the show. I'm curious if we will see any changes with respect to diversity behind and in front of the screen. CBS claims to have made a commitment to having 40% Black and Indigenous People of Color in every writers room. But as far as stories, I don't care about any of them. The vague details pertaining to Devon, Amanda, Elena, and Nate tells me that Josh had not given it much thought at all. No true plans. Plus, before the break, I saw Josh working to keep Amanda in Billy's orbit to include Lily. I'm expecting Lily and Amanda to start fighting over Billy in a month's time. The actresses are the only two (young) women on canvas that seem to be able to pull off a rivalry for their characters. And Josh seems to want Billy in Amanda's orbit. So... I don't care about Kyle, that dark haired boy, Lola, or Summer. But seems all stakeholders (Y&R, Sony, and CBS) seen to agree that the show should be centered around them so...I don't see a reason to watch.
