I still say he's never called her Aunt Julie. Like Hope, he's called her Julie, and Grandma Julie I believe when he was younger. Hope has been onscreen for most of her life. I believe Susan Banning is the other step-mother she had at one point. But really and truly, Julie was always her step-mom and that's how she looked at her. They may refer to each other as sisters on rare occasion but they act like mother/daughter and have for a long time.

Well it's more of a difference in opinion. I will never look at Julie as Shawn's grandmother. Was she a mother figure to Hope when she was a child? Yes. I understand that. But now Hope is grown and she looks at Julie as her sister. Shawn looks at Julie as his aunt. That's the way I see it and that's how I'll continue to incorporate it on As Days Go By.

I can understand and agree that it's just a matter of disagreement. It's also a difference in when you started watching the show. I began in 1982, so I've seen a good portion of their relationship onscreen. If you started later in the 80s, or even in the 90s or 2000s, I could see where you'd have a completely different perspective on Hope & Julie. :)

Exactly. I started watching the show in 1996. I remember seeing Doug and Julie at Bo and Hope's non-wedding in 96 and I understood that Doug was Hope's father, but I didn't know who Julie was. My mother explained it to me that Julie was Hope's sister, which confused the hell out of me because she was all over Doug

Outstanding episode if you ask me, and one of the best Christmas Episodes in recent memory!

My favorite scenes of the day were definetly the scene at the Horton House, when Bo/Hope hung Zack's ornament, it was a bit heartwrenching for me and it made it even hard to watch when they showed everyone reacting to them hanging the ornament. LOVED that Hope helped Chelsea hang her ornament, despite the thing Chelsea has done, I felt for her today when they were hanging Zack's ornament, you just KNEW it was killing her inside and she was scared that the saddness would turn to anger towards her. I am glad that Nick got her to stay, I also loved their scenes together, they are MAJORLY growing on me.

The Hospital Christmas Story reading was a DAMN CLASSIC...HOW hilarious was Steve...I loved every minute of those scenes!

The Clay Aiken appearance was meh, glad the focus was NOT on him but on S/K. They are just SO damn hot together!!

Abby rescuing Max/Mimi was nice, and god damnit I am actually (strike me down God) liking Mimi for a change. She and Max are kinda cute together, but Mabby still all the way for me.

Loved that all the senior veterans (Doug, Julie, Maggie, Alice ect) were included in this episode and glad they FINALLY addressed Mickey's absence...they NEED to lure John Clarke out of retirement at LEAST for this kind of episode.

Overall a GREAT episode and the previews for tomorrow look REALLY REALLY intense!!

I was shocked that Abby actually found and rescued Max/Mimi. I thought that her 'in search of' scenes would be filler, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I forgot what it was like to watch this show and actually have stuff happen!

Also, I would like to thank the writers for having Steve tell the Christmas story in a language that I understand.

I know the story, but honestly... watching Days today was a breakthrough for me, because today, I actually UNDERSTOOD the story. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt this way while listening to Steve tell it.

I loved the show, especially the Hope-Chelsea scene. You know, there is another site I go to, where they thought the episode was awful. To me, that shows, that no matter what you do, sometimes people will never be happy. Cause the show was amazing

Clay Aiken says "car" VERY weird.

I just hate when they screw up tradition. I like to see the ornament hanging on Christmas Eve and the story on Christmas Day. And when did the story telling become a Horton AND Brady tradition? If I remember correctly, Bo and Roman were the only Bradys that evr made an appearance. I don't seem to recall Caroline or Grandpa Shawn ever being in the hospital. The Bradys tradition is midnight mass. Come on, Hogan, get with the picture ;)

Oh you know those damned Bradys ... gotta get in on everything. Poor dying Horton family. :( and just why exactly did Chelsea have an ornament? She's no Horton. And did Claire get one? I didn't see it.

anyway ... it was a great episode.

Loved the Hope/Chelsea/Bo scenes

I loved Doug and Julie

I loved all those little family things SLG added into the script. Like Julie reminding Nick to read the card.

Loved Bo and Hope's anguish over the first christmas without Zack. SLG, despite how hard writing this would be for her personally, delivered the goods yet again on their loss of their child.

Loved the montage at the end with everyone's little moments. Everyone's cuddling with their loved ones ... Bonnie cuddles with a bottle of whiskey. I laughed.

That ending montage was one of the most emotional, if not the most, moments in soaps all year. I just watched it again and cried again.

Kudos to SLG. She did yet another marvelous job.

As for the Brady's and Horton's, they have so many connections between them I don't see what the big deal is. The Christmas story reading has always alternated between Christmas Eve and Day and the Brady's have come to the hospital along with the Horton's for as long as I remember. I remember being mad last year Chelsea got an ornament but I'm not anymore. The Horton's are like that and it makes sense they would do it. I am honestly more pissed they gave Carrie one for a few years even though she had no conncection and hadn't married Mike.

As for Doug/Julie/Hope/Shawn, it's so comcplicated I don't care what they call her. I have heard him call her grandma and aunt but whatever. It's such a weird and unique situation.

I am liking Mimi/Max too. I want Maby and I am not a fan of FF but she has been much more tolerable and Max/Mimi have grown on me.

I talked to two friends of my nephew and they both said this was the first year they actually could understand the Christmas story so your not alone Kenny. I was laughing so much while Steve was reading that even though it was supposed to an emotional moment. It was refreshing to watch.

I was really impressed with the ending montage. We need more of those. Someone really needs to put that baby up on youtube because I would really like seeing it again.

As in Maxi Pads? I like it. Maybe we can send used Maxi Pads to Corday/Hoagie and tell them no more Maxi!

That's so disgusting and funny at the same time.......

I cried at the ending with Francis Reid, she reminds me of my Nana who is no longer with us; and it's sad when people you love so much become so frail and weak..... :(

Awww. I am sorry, Rhiannon. But you can take that as DAYS is actually hitting us/viewers on a new level that it hasn't hit us on in years (minus Zach's death.) :(

I love your new siggy KR. One of my fave shows of all-time.

OMG. We'll talk. (SO OBSESSED.)
