ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Updates Opening Sequence with New Theme Music and New Cast Images

On Monday, February 14, 2022, “General Hospital” debuted an updated opening sequence featuring mostly brand new images of the show’s cast and an altered version of the show’s theme music which brings a sense of immediacy to tuning in to what’s about to happen on the daytime drama series with the new beat sped up.

Featured in the updated opening thus far were cast members Roger Howarth, Haley Pullos, Charles Shaughnessy, Brooke Kerr, Nancy Lee Grahn, Chad Duell, Kristina Wagner, Johnny Wactor, Cassandra James, Sydney Mikayla, Marcus Coloma, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Amanda Setton, Tajh Bellow, Avery Kristine Pohl, Cynthia Watros, Laura Wright, Cameron Mathison, Kelly Thiebaud, Genie Francis, Maurice Benard, Donnell Turner and Maura West.

GH has had iconic openings, from the OG ambulance into the hospital to Dave Koz's Faces of the heart, to the weird one where Luke walked away at the end, and the more recent faces over the cityscape.

This feels like an elementary PowerPoint slideshow, and the lighting is not doing most of the actors any favors.

Maura West needs to hunt down whoever OKed that pic of her looking like a dude. Just awful! She's a knockout!

And Roger Howarth looks like he is legit growling.

Honestly, why does Frank Valentini even bother anymore with an opening sequence?  Just cut to the GH logo after the teaser and be done with it.

It's still possibly the worst opening in daytime soap history.  What is Valentini thinking?! It's like a deck of cards with wax figures. Forgettable theme. Makes no sense. F

I think that this might even be worse that GL's holding hands intro and the 2003-2005 GL scrolling letters intro.

They've simply never had a good theme since they discontinued Faces of the Heart.

So true. Their 2000s theme was like a bad, bland blend of the 1975-1993 theme and FOTH. And the visuals were so incoherent. Only AMC had a decent one of all the ABC soaps in the Frons era.

Watched the video. Looks and sounds generic as hell. And cheap. I mean, I know budgets have been slashed, but this looks like something a tween with Photoshop would do! Two thumbs way down.
