Worst Character Assassinations?

I think we all have seen some pretty bad character assassinations over the years, I was wondering which ones were quite possibly the worst or really bad? I was inspired by some of the posts in that iconic stars who flopped thread to start this.

I have to start with Neil on Y&R when he became a bloodthirsty sociopath over Devon and Hilary’s affair and then held a comatose Hilary in secret. The character never recovered his former standing on the show before KSJ passed.

Then there is Sharon on Y&R but that would take up two posts lol. Don’t get me started on Ben Reade on GL either.

Brooke on B&B, starting with the affair with Deacon. I know that they had sizzling chemistry and many found them hot together, but it was completely out of character for the Brooke we had seen so far. And since that story she has really never been the same. Before that, despite what Stephanie said, Brooke had never been anywhere the slut Stephanie had accused her of being, but since then.... oh dear.....

Paulina, AW - She was tough and strong and didn't take any of Jake's crap but once she married Joe, she became nothing more than just his little woman.

Ciara, DOOL - Tough, motorcycle riding, Bo's daughter to a tee, turned into a cheerleader for a serial killer while at the same time attacking other people for their sketchy pasts.

And pretty much every character on Passions in its last year and a half - particularly Chad, Sheridan, Fox and Gwen.

    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
