@Khan @KMan101 Does DAYS basically do one take? I’m curious because I’ve never seen a soap where more actors stumble, stutter, clearly mix up lines that they try to correct than DAYS. It’s pretty funny on CC. DAYS also has very long scenes 2 min+. The production really illuminates the truly skilled and vets. LG is a standout of the newer additions.

Most daytime soaps do one take now, unless something falls on your head or a curse is said. If that happens. You only pick up from where it was messed up. Yu dont do the whole scene over.

It's similar to Y&R's Joshua Morrow, another actor I like, but whenever he has to play a scene where his character, Nick, isn't privy to whatever is being discussed by other characters and Nick is supposed to be oblivious to what's going on, you can tell Morrow knows exactly what's going on and isn't playing oblivious successfully.

Which is ironic, because if there's anyone who spends his entire life in a fog, it HAS to be he.

If that’s the case industrywide, then several DAYS’ actors are just weak. The fact that the constant slippage stood out when I started a four-month binge catch-up in August made me think it was production. I’ve watched soaps for decades as well as legacy (DS, TEON) and I’ve never seen anything like it - and it happens during every episodes.

Spoiler

So Shawn's coming back for a little while in February. Hopefully, he'll be the one to realize that Hope is not Hope.

I spent several months watching 1994 DOOL. I noticed plenty of flubbed lines even back then, which blows me away, as they had a Budget.

They still had to keep it pushing back then, just not to the degree they do now.

Would be nice if we ever saw Ciara interact with her mother. Unfortunately Ciara's life is devoted to trying to save a serial killer from death row so she can keep riding his dick 🙄

When was the last time Ciara even saw her mother? Why is everyone else in town actually concerned there's something wrong with Hope, yet her own daughter doesn't acknowledge her existence or even notice anything is wrong because she's obsessed with a serial killer.

When all the Princess Gina stuff ends, there better be a scene of Ciara blaming herself for the whole thing, ("If I hadn't been so preoccupied with Ben, I would've seen something was wrong with Mom.") or Shawn ripping her a new one for the same thing lol

Nah, knowing Ron, she'll be too busy battling her new, alter ego, or Rolf will inject her with the Gina juice.

Here’s the thing: I don’t mind Ciara being dickmatized by Ben. It’s perfectly realistic. I’ve seen plenty of intelligent women and gay men (including yours truly) who have lost their wits and gotten with a guy who is totally wrong for them because he is good in bed.

what bothers me is that they force all of Salem to constantly sing his praises.

And now I hear in my head the late, great R&B singer Linda Jones singing, "Dickmatized" (rather than "Hypnotized").

Thanks, @juppiter!  I think!

That is what modern soap

writers get wrong with these type of characters.  They force the issue instead of letting characters have their own point of view and telling the story from all angles. Lead the audience but don’t be so blatantly transparent and desperate.

The audience might root for the outsider (depending on the character of course), but making them the insider eliminates that feeling.  It does for me anyway.
