Damn it.  This one hurts even though I didn't watch 90210. There was just something about him in later roles that touched me.  I'm sorry for his friends and family. They could not have been prepared for such a loss.

Wow. Shocked, but looking back, he's aged a lot over the past 5 years or so.

Sure, but I think a lot of people start to look their age in their 50's, if they aren't getting a ton of work done.  So many people live into their 80's now, this kind of sudden death at 52 is a shock and I suppose a reminder that we never know how long we have. Damn.

Agreed. I keep waiting for John Stamos and Rob Lowe to finally start looking haggard but they're hell bent on staying young forever. Even Don Diamont is finally starting to show his age... slowly...

So sad to hear about Luke Perry. 90210 (and MP) was my childhood upbringing, watching it when I was 8 years old (probably shouldn't have been, but I've loved my dishy soapy dramas since I came out of the womb).  I'll always be Team Brenda for Dylan

People in my family tend to look younger than they are, especially on my mother's side so to me, he does look as if he is much older than 52.  It made me wonder if there were other health issues that we weren't privy to knowing.  Was he a smoker?  From what I've noticed, smoking tends to age people, especially the skin.
