ALL OF THIS. Especially since I'm back on July but have been tuning into POP to watch Eileen's exit storyline.

AND...SHE...HAS...BEEN...KILLING...IT!!!!

Still Team Ashley and on Monday as far as I was concerned Eileen was selling it. I did find it funny that the whole scene starting out was like a scene from DAYS where Kristen gets exposed...and Eileen was channeling that Kristen fire without the insanity. However once it was her vs Jack it was that Abbott dynamic I was used to see.

Watching Monday’s scenes now and Eileen killed it!! When i initially heard what they planned to have Ashley do, i thought they were throwing her under the bus. But between Ashley’s very legit issues and Eileen’s incredible performance, i totally got it and was team Ashley. I hate that soaps only give you a great story once you’re leaving the damn show.

I just marathoned six episodes and while I kinda enjoy the Ashley stuff, the show is horrible. It looks cheap and is poorly directed. The lighting is really making the show look cheap.

Another observation, I know everybody raves about Kyle, but he sucks. Maybe in the modern era he’s considered a great find, but he is a mediocre actor and visually I don’t get the hype. If this is what the show is puking their hopes on they’re doomed because he’s no leading man.

Then the writing. It’s so pedestrian and only hits the most basic notes. Jack has done some truly evil things and having everybody act devastated by what Ashley did and barely acknowledging her feelings doesn’t make sense. Considering her history I don’t find this too out there and they just act stunned. It’s ridiculous!

The Big Little Lies Story continues to drag on and go nowhere. I’m going to watch a couple more episodes but I’m not seeing anything worth watching so far. I’m mainly interested in how Ashley gets written off.

These shows are so bad we overpraise mediocrity. The show looks bad, sounds bad (the score they used as Jack threw that chair through the window was the same music they use to transition to every commercial break, that twinkly bland sh!t) and the writing is atrocious. But some of the actors rise above the material.

Why does Gina Tognoni play every scene like an enraged pitbull? I guess she's trying to look like she's street but it makes her look like a linebacker.

I think the biggest let down is that nobody in the soap press has a good Eileen Davidson exit interview.  Can you imagine the stories she could tell from 35 years on soap sets?  I don't think that anyone would pay for a tell-all book at this point, but a juicy sit-down interview would have been nice.

Y&R has been pretty bad for about a decade now.  Mediocre at best has become the new normal and viewers have accepted this as the price to pay for the show remaining on the air.

(Personally, for me, I decided that wasting my time watching a show that will continually irritate and disappoint me is too high a price to pay, so over the summer, even before Hilary was killed off, I cut Y&R loose.)

There is no soap media/press now.  It's mostly a loose collection of bloggers (that's not a put-down) who are dependent on those very same shows to gain access.

Now, it's become such that most (those who are still even discussing daytime drama) have become too risk averse to even interview an actor who has left the show for an in depth interview to try to give their readers some insight and awareness of the show's dynamics.

The fact that no one has yet, had a sit down interview with Davidson (via You Tube or blog) doesn't surprise me.  When no one bothered to conduct an in depth post-Y&R interview with Mishael Morgan, I knew not to expect much going forward.

    • B&B has uploaded May 8th episode to cbs.com and paramountplus. I wonder if it will remain or be removed?
    • -- Off, indeed. I wrote my rant while watching the show. Then I heard Dante mention manslaughter and Danny in the same sentence. Just over-the-top ridiculousness. -- Is Brad written off for good? If so, what a lousy exit. -- Portia is looking sooooooo dumb these days. Just clueless as to how she's coming across.
    • As usual, Dani makes everything all about herself.   Sweetie.. this isn't about you.   I think deep down, the Dupree would be relieved if Dani wasn't around.
    • I watched it all. I was fine with her on both GH and on PC. But, what you describe for Llanview would've worked really well. I just think the whole concept of moving her from show to show was  in big trouble from the start. And, there were some specific blunders, like MAX, GMAB, she had no idea whether she'd had a boy or a girl and he was at least a decade older than any of the others.  I did very much like the idea that Myrtle was her mom.

date: Thursday, May 8 | Ron Carlivati, Danielle Paige | Phideaux Xavier I love the continued references to real-life things; I feel like that's been so avoided in American daytime soaps for such a long time. Dana is genuinely unhinged; she is giving Glenn Close as Alex in Fatal Attraction to the fullest extent, acting as if she's the ultimate love of Ted’s life when she was nothing more than a sidepiece. Not Dana packing up Eva's belongings and throwing her ass out like she is common trash. The child bride is giving a cheap trailer wife look with this look. But she needs to sit her behind down; this is not her fight. This existed before anyone knew she even existed. This is between Bill and Ted right now. I feel like Dani is speaking from experience, knowing of Bill's infidelity throughout her marriage, and I do feel like this is her [trying] to protect her big sissy from the hurt she's been experiencing. Not Anita comparing Ted to Bill; they're both scum men who did not deserve the Dupree women they conned into marrying them. Katherine is putting demands on her new relationship with Tomas; I understand it, but that is not healthy at all, no matter which side. If Tomas demanded that of her, I know she'd high-tail it out of there. Cannot have double standards. Dani walking in, commanding the room, and tossing Hayley out of her own living room? Whew. Not Dana legitimately throwing the photo out of her and Eva; that's cold. "There is no purchase in what might have been," Anita Dupree. What brilliant advice. So wise. Full of wisdom. So now Ted wants to get a hotel room for Eva and then get her her own apartment? Well, okay then. Notes: Ambyr Michelle (Eva) once again gave a masterful performance in today's episode. She's so going places outside of daytime. I see her doing her three-year contract (if that's how they're done for this soap) and ditching it to go back into primetime/film. It is abundantly clear to me why Maurice Johnson (Ted) is exiting the role. I have not bought his performance once throughout any of the "reveal" nor in today's episode. I'm not compelled to believe him or believe in him. At all. There is no emotion in his performance.
    • Ron C breakdowns usually involve quick snip scenes.. and so far, it is apparent in spades.  I wish we had the longer scenes like we had in the previous few episodes. And I see Febreeze appeared again today.  More airtime/purpose than Ashley/Derek LOL
    • I loved Felicia and Donna. They were two of the reasons I couldn't stop watching the show even when the writing was horrible. I was never really a fan of Rachel's unless she was sniping at Cecile (my fave character!). But Felicia and Donna (especially Anna Stuart) are AW to me. Of course, it was around the time of their arrivals that I remember I started watching the show. I was 10 in '83. For me, they were always there. I wouldn't have wanted either of them to be killed off.  Rachel and Mac were okay for me but I never saw most of their relationship play or Rachel's previous work with Steve and Alice. I just saw her as there; the matriarch. Never a fan of Rachel and Carl. It made no sense whatsoever.  I did like Quinn and was shocked when they killed her off. Her and Zack were just starting to become a couple I wanted to watch. She should definitely have been a fixture on the show along with her family. Carter and Thomasina I thought were fun and a great couple, too.  That's the thing about being an AW fan. The show was always on the brink of greatness, but then it would shoot itself in the foot with stupid decisions from writing to cast exits, etc. They could just never quite get it together. The cast was amazing! It's the only thing that saved them for so long.
    • I LOVED LD on AW...one of my all time favorite characters! However, on OLTL, her character was pretty pointless from the word go. I think trying to make her this character she played decades before was also a bad choice. She should have been a brand new character that could have been tied into the current canvas better. Rae really had no connections or family on the show. Imagine if she had been brought on as a recast Melinda Cramer, freshly released from the hospital. She would have been tied into a major family, be Kelly's mother, and have some real drama to play opposite RS.
