I'm not so sad about missing the show these days, while writing does play a part, so does the production values.

That beret was so french! I automatically felt like I was in Paris...I was transported, girl. I was all the way there, chile.

Honestly, the production values do take away from the viewers' interest in the show. When it's visually so lackluster and cheap, you're not instantly drawn in...these shows need a budget or a sugar daddy or something because the money is tight.

Or the show should write stories that they can tell with the budget they have.  There was excitement to be had for a story like this, without a train station in Paris.

Even though Tomlin’s runs were not my favorite, with some tweaks and stories for the vets, I think what he did was smart for the type of show they are capable of producing.  I just wish he had used more of the canvas.

I was being a bit extra when I mocked today's set. All things considered, it's not terrible for a DAYS set - there was some effort. However, you're absolutely right, I don't understand why they feel the need to tell stories the budget can't really accommodate. Why spend money on a train station set that will hardly be used or worse - used way beyond what's necessary because you already spent the money on it - when you can spend a little more on other sets that are actually necessary and could look somewhat decent.

That is what I said earlier in this thread. I know DAYS has no budget and this is no problem. It doesn’t mean they had to rely to such ridiculous clichés. As a French guy; I kept rolling my eyes at the woman who was in the room with Sarah and Rex. She was supposedly talking French ...

Ohh i hope we get thirteen classic episodes or a trials and tribulations clip package for Doug and Julie, John and Marlena or whoever else they choose.

I hate to spread negativity but OMG this show is dullsville. Something just isn't the same for me when John/Marlena or Gabi are not on. The baby switch climax had nothing going for me. Justin/Kayla/Steve is on the verge of putting me in a coma. At this point I would love to see everyone leave the show except the Black family and Gabi. This is the only reboot that would work for me. And they never play characters together that need to be together so why have a big cast. Get rid of half of them and give this show some atmosphere by using the budget elsewhere. I can see why Peapack failed GL in 2008 but in 2020 with the advances we have had they could easily film on location in CA and give us actual romance and adventures and outdoor scenes and use less sets.

It almost sucks B&B is the best looking show with the best background music but very little story/stakes actually going on.

That train station set was actually really good for modetn "Days"... which I think is like a combination of lots of sets (JJ's loft, Salem U/full HTS, etc.).  I thought the production values today were definitely as good, if not way better than anything we had while Tomlin was EP (when the show had that 2009 renaissance).  My only problem with today was Cin being shoehorned into such an important episode.  So far, they are doing a pretty complete one-year anniversary of the big Mother's Day disaster.  I do wish the direction would have been more interesting for today, esp. in the train station scenes.  And we need montages!  Lol

NBC SCHEDULES NEW "DAYS" EPISODE ON MEMORIAL DAY TO REPLACE FRENCH OPEN...

NBC has now confirmed it has scheduled Episode # 13858 to air on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day). This is the first of the 13 sports postponement preemptions that had to be filled with something. # 13858 was originally scheduled to air on Tuesday, May 26, but will now air a day early. As posted yesterday, the possible impacts to the schedule being filled with all new episodes would mean the holidays later in the year will air much earlier than planned.
