I'm just saying Nikki Newman on trial for murder and then her execution, is ratings gold. So of course Y&R will not be doing that storyline. I think that if they had their way half the characters would be in prison - imagine Sharon, Nikki, and Victor all behind glass walls, in the same prison, yelling at each other. The Sharon trial is probably the reason why they only did a couple of courtroom scenes with Victor. (Seriously, they certainly could have done Victor Newman on trial and he'd be meeting his goal of protecting Nikki.) However, after the Sharon fiasco, they made a better choice.
