If the Democratic fusillade continues (and I think some of it will) he is likely to get more than he cares for. When people in the press gaggles hit Manchin on sore points, like his family's money or the CTC, he hollers and loses his cool. The leak today about his CTC comments is not a coincidence.

I love how the Democrats are applying the pressure to Manchin, but I hope they're also getting out the message that the ones we should REALLY be angry with are the Republicans, since not a single one of 'em has chosen to support legislation that would help so many individuals in this country, thereby forcing us into this situation where one pissant from WV can potentially sink Biden's entire agenda.

The thing here is that he says, repeatedly, that he would never support BBB and he knew it all along. Many of us suspected it from the start bc his arguments against it have always been circular, repetitious and half-baked, and when he dropped one he'd always go back to another. Now today, in his radio interview, he has gone back to old stuff he was saying last spring or summer and referring to testing and committees, things that have already been done in several cases on key components.

It's possible that dropping climate and adding pork would get his vote on pieces of this bill, and that may be a goal worth pursuing. But I don't think he wants to do anything period, it's clear now that his bruised ego and right-wing sensibility is far more important to him than any other political enrichment he might actually get from the passage, and I hope the WH doesn't take too much from the Politico Whisperers insisting there is a way to get to 'yes' with Manchin. I think any yes would be extremely meager and they should consider looking at Murkowski.

All that being said: It is very possible Manchin's vote will be there for us on voting rights, so there is that.

Frankly, at this point, I don't care.  Even if the Senate gets the voting rights legislation passed -- and I still think that's a big "if" -- the GOP will just find another way to disenfranchise POC while the Democrats will insist we keep going high.

    • Dani...and Eva??? And now Ted and Nicole are setting her up for success. These scenes are sooooo giving old school soap when the schemer is being set up for a fall...loving it.    YASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! He showed up with his FOINE self!!   Oh my Goodness! Kat is really on it today. Wait! Eva is the daughter of one of Leslie's friends who passed away. OH, REALLY? So that cover story might not be just a cover story then...   These Eva vs Silk Press Sheila scenes!!!    Awww...I guess no Vanessa, but at least she was mentioned.

    • Terrific ideas -- but would Mike and Nancy's great-grandson bear the last name Dallas?  Yuck.  Any way we could make him a Karr?    And in a similar vein, how could Bill and Martha's granddaughter bear the name Marceau?   I love the idea of continuing the Karr, Marceau, Hillyer, and Drake legacies, but if the new characters do not use the familiar last names, the effort to connect them to the past is rather fruitless.  Just my personal observation.
    • And they gave him a whole commercial and everything! Happy to see that star keeps growing.
    • But the REAL question...   ...May Sweeps...OR SLEEPS...???

    • It's doubly a shame because one thing Long excelled at was using backstory to enhance the present story. I think that's one reason why Josh and Reva took off the way they did--the early stuff is really good. (Unfortunately, they ruined it by overusing the characters). Imagine if Roger returned to get involved with Alex, and her brother and ex, who used to be dire enemies, came together to oppose him. Instead, Mike was nowhere to be seen and Alan was written out for years. Yes, casting would have been an issue, but when you think about what they wound up with for 15 years...
    • I've never been so annoyed to be running late. lol   EVERYONE looks so pretty.   Happy to see Andre and Eva interacting, Mona being there, and happy to see Nicole play matchmaker for Dani. Fingers crossed that FOINE doctor from Nicole's last event pops up.   @kalbir Andre looking like a snack in that tux.

      Lmao!!!!
    • Also gotta feel sorry for Mona, realizing today that she’s only known Leslie for a few months; she’s going to blame herself for all of this.
