Ehh was a bit disappointed and underwhelmed by TEB’s anniversary episode today other than a couple Sheila clips I don’t even think this episode even highlighted her best clips. Plus having Gloria, Kevin, and Chloe there smirking and mugging, ugh. Should have been just been family dinner with just Michael, Scott, Fen, and Trey at an empty Society or some makeshift home dining room geez.

That said Fen and Trey were cute, and Fen should have been gay back in 2012 from the get go. Making him instagay is so lazy but typical of Griffith’s dreck.

Enjoyed the Mary Williams clip the most. Weird Brad wasn’t acknowledged at all.

Lauren telling the story of her life today, talking a lot about her past with Paul. And she explained to Trey ...  "Paul is our chief of police now -- but back then he was a private detective."   She outright said that.

wtf?

Is Y&R still maintaining that pretense?

At least this episode gave us a break from the current stories.

I wonder what the state of play is with the show and Doug? I don't think he would want to back as recurring again and hardly be used. Hopefully he might turn up during the 50th, but I think too many bridges may have been burned on both sides.

Of course we had to have at least 2 of the women in one shoulder dressesto continue the tradition .

Was that Crystal in the background at the Goopy Possum? Wasn't sure as the hairstyle was different.

It still blows my mind that TB debuted 40 years ago. It's a pity that Lauren isn't the mover and shaker that she should be.

No Brad was the only real omission. Paul got more play than I expected with the Mary scene a nice bonus. The Sheila scenes were spot-on. Better Jill/Phyllis scenes exist, but they made the point. SSH was perfect as Joanna. Of course, the funniest part of no Neil F or Brad scenes - they went on to father and son on B&B.

An improvement over the 2016 cast image. However, at times, I do wish they'd do cast shoots without the formalwear, and would simply do more every day, characterwear. But this is pretty. But... the fact it is already outdated cast-wise. Whew.

In an ideal world it would have been the culmination or high point of a months long story about Lauren or her family. But no, like everything else, it was people sitting around talking about events that happened in the past.

    • Coming into June...   It just occurred to me that seeing Carter/Hope engaged that there was something missing. Oh, yeah! DAPHNE. I missed a few episodes, but she left, right? So is Ridge going to be the spoiler for Carter/Hope now? I felt that Daphne/Carter/Hope had more legs to it. But I guess we will see.   I did enjoy that show circling back around to Luna/Will/Electra. Katie was spitting nothing, but truth. Same for Sheila. And it's good to see Luna vs Electra, and they gave off more adversary chemistry this time around versus when they were at Deacon's.    I was happy to see Liam reduced to C plot.
    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
