Gotta tell ya, I think this is the first time I've ever been glad that breaking news interrupted part of Days

Can't even begin to say how glad I am that I missed Ava's dream. I know all soaps have their hits and misses, but some of these misses are just ridiculous.

Days clearly needs new breakdown writers as well as someone to rein RC in because there's absolutely no need for this bear crap.

I think the issue with DAYS is that they just seem to be moving chess pieces back and forth. This is why I hoped that the devil would at least wreak some long-term havoc on the canvas and shake it all up a bit - unfortunately, everything the devil does haven't really had any long-term effects so far; I guess Paulina being revealed as Lani's mom could count into that, but not really because Paulina just went from being a mother figure to her to being her mother.

That's not to mention dumb plots like the obsession with that damn bear.

Yeah, that line made no sense. Add to that, the devil isn't horny for men or women. The devil has no desire for mortals.

Also, has Johnny already been fully taken over? It seems he's the devil 100% of the time. The devil can sure take over quickly, as opposed to slowly worming his way into control. Ugh. They break their own rules of this dumb game.

Wait. No love for Melissa Archer's elephant statue?

Let today’s Duke the Bear sequence live on with other Days other significant legendary moments  like Vivian and Ivan dancing as French fries, Mike & Carrie’s magical flying bed, Salem high chem lab explosion, Mermi the mermaid ripping off Chloe’s hair, Marlena falling out of her penthouse etc.

Duke wasn't even the worst part of the episode to be honest. I'd rather see that than Nicole having sex dreams about Rafe. What a horrible episode besides Steve and Kayla.

Does the show have absolutely zero wardrobe budget? Why was Gwen naked the whole episode in her scenes with Abigail? That was ridiculous.

That's the next arc of their journey: after Duke the Bear and the porcelain cat declare their love for each other, the elephant statue will attempt to drive a wedge between them (while wearing a Duke mask, of course).

This [!@#$%^&*] better end with Ava being diagnosed with a brain tumor.  That's all I'm saying.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
