Y&R: Tony Morina accused of sexual harassment. Sony being sued.

Bingo! It was also during Latham when Dru was reduced to a caricature and then we got Nia Peeples as the reluctant singer/gym instructor who couldn’t.

As for Morina, good riddance. Hopefully JG will go along with him. Hopefully my idea I recently posted about Noel Maxam taking over as EP and Boyd, Esser, and Slater was sharing Co-HW duties comes to pass because right now that would be the only thing I could see making Y&R even remotely interesting again.

It was Latham herself who got rid of him all so she could prop up Amber, Cane, Gloria, and Kevin stories even more.

Exactly.

And I believe this.

You'd think. But nope. Tumbleweeds could blow by ...

And yes as everyone else said, Steve Kent needs TO GO too. It ALWAYS stems from the top. "If they do it so can I"

And also, these people have enablers all around them.

Y&R has never sounded like a 'fun set' to be a part of, honestly.

They're beyond checked out so I'm not at all surprised we've heard nothing. CBS/Sony is a MESS. Yikes. Again, stems from the top. Les Moonves ran this network for what two decades? How many actresses did he and Kent get blacklisted that should be *stars* right now? This industry ...

Just saw @BetterForgotten replied the same time I did but he summed it up nicely. The day to day of Y&R in 2007 was so bizarre and insufferable there was no easy storyline flow, no payoff or follow up (ie Nick’s plane was sabotaged lol) that I can explain certain events but couldn’t tell you the why or how at all.

Not surprised either. They’re probably keeping status quo until a Redstone or a Sony higher up gets involved. Just like CBS and JFP a few years back.

When you add up all the behind the scenes garbage, you realize these shows just don't even have a chance to remotely succeed when they very well could.

When you have a network and cast invested (NBC/Days), they succeed even when the writing is, to put it lightly, questionable. It's clear the DAYS cast even the messy GH cast get along.

Yeah, that's my guess as well. "Nothing to see here" until someone high up gets involved, if they even do.

So true. It's really depressing how far Y&R has fallen. It's become an empty shell. Doesn't help that Griffith lacks all substance and depth to any of his "stories"

It's insane to see how well produced these shows once used to be. Literally primetime ready. Now? Yikes.

Speaking of Days whatever happened to Corday’s lawsuit against Sony for interference? I almost wonder if Bells and Cordays should have cut their losses with Columbia/Sony so long ago given their shows are definitely capable of standing on their own but I guess they felt they still needed the middle partner?

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
