Frank has allegedly wanted to get rid of Julian since the murder attempt on Alexis; they were supposedly overruled by ABC because of a handful of hausfraus on FB or twitter or something. They wrote in that stupid band-aid where they blamed his actions on Olivia Jerome, but that never took. You don't get past trying to kill your wife with the dagger that killed her mother, a historical backstory event that goes all the way back to '96 or '97 and some very famous scenes with Helena. NLG clearly has been over the pairing with Julian ever since and has only given it polite lip service from then on.

Supposedly Julian was even originally intended to be short-term when Ron was writing but the pairing with Alexis took off with fans and they just kept it going and going. But yes, they've been actively trying to dump him for like five or six years. Good riddance.

Lulu needs a rest and retooling almost as much as Maxie (who needed to be offscreen several years ago). I like Rylan but she's not a lead. Either beg Berman to come back or hire Jennifer Landon, I agree.

Well, if they are not putting Julian and Alexis back together (which would be wrong given the knife incident) and there is no Julian/Alexis/Neil triangle...really no reason for him to be around.

I am sad about Lulu though. She has slowly been getting story and now...Nik is the only child of Laura's in town is just sad. Especially since Laura is a fixture back in PC at last.

Emme  Ryan is just lousy as Lulu. I just don’t see her in any romantic pairing, because she comes across as too hard to me. Not sure if that explains it very well. She just doesn’t work as this character.

Julian has been written into a corner, but I do think he’s a solid actor. Most on here are happy he’s going, but i can think of plenty who should get a pink slip before he does.

Emme Rylan started out well as Lizzie on GL, but over time she lost that spark and when she got on GH she was forgettable. It's sad because I really used to like her in the early days as Lizzie.

I feel as if Sasha, Dusty, Chase, Peter, and Willow would be the ones out the door before Rylan but it looks like I was wrong. I hope this is just the beginning though.

DeVry's exit has been a long time coming though, I have no doubt Sonny will take him out for his part in the baby switch.

I am shocked that they would cut ER as Dante has returned.  Wild.  I wonder if the show plans to recast?

I won’t miss her interpretation, I hope for a better recast or JMB to return.

As far as Julian-  bye!  I was excited when he was cut the first time, and even though they were forced to bring him back he has been pretty marginalized since.

I ALWAYS miss the big news. LOL.

That's really surprising on Rylan, considering Lulu is in the middle of a fairly big story.

Not at all sad or surprised about deVry. I'm pretty sure Frank's wanted him out for a while. He was pretty much gone a few years ago.

The cast is way too big and they do a poor job of it because they seem to have to cater to having Sonny and Jason and Carly on 18 times a month.

I'm kinda surprised Jordan and Sasha aren't out the door too.

I won't miss her either. JMB isn't really doing anything is she? I thought she was a bit harder and harsher in the role and wasn't the biggest fan but she was leagues better than Rylan and at least there's some connection to her Lulu. Rylan's been Lulu for 7 years and she's STILL meh.

    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
