I'm loving Gwen...and wondering if she has some sort of connection to the Horton/Deveraux family.

Kate and Stefan....Kate deserves some fun for a change.

 Maybe?

I'm really liking the new Trask. She's a complex character in a lot of ways. It'd be great to see them keep an Asian actress around as the show needs more diversity...big time.

Even though I really like Gwen (she has brought so much life to the show), I am now VERY afraid that she's obviously some kind of Deveraux, and, even worse, maybe a long lost kid of Jack's.  This is not the story that J&J need, and it feels like we JUST went through this with Steve/Kayla/Tripp.

In all honesty, I sort of liked the fact that we finally had a character that wasn't related to everyone on the canvas as DAYS can get very incestous at times, but it does feel fairly obvious that she's going to turn out related to either Jack or Jennifer somehow.

There's been so many theories about Gwen.

So far I've heard: she's Jack daughter

                               she's Jennifer's daughter

she's Andre's daughter, out for revenge

she's the granddaughter of Abby's English nanny, out for revenge.

Regardless, I think she's been a great addition to the show too. The show needed a new character that wasn't just there for the plot.

Switching gears, I'm curious as to who Philip's partner is. Some people were suggesting that it was Sarah, finally getting back at Xander for the baby switch but Sarah doesn't strike me as the type to launder money.

And I wish Hope that had been given a decent exit storyline. The writing could have been better for Hope in the last few years, but I'm still going to miss her.

Please forgive me in advance because I no longer watch daily and I mostly follow the story here and on blogs

How did they write out the Hernandez family?  I've completely missed how/why they left Salem and if the writers at the time left open the possibility of their return.

At the risk of expressing an opinion about a fictional town, has anyone discussed the need to defund the Salem PD?  They can't solve a crime, international criminals live in their midst, and now a former detective (who was once an FBI agent) can't even protect his younger sister from crime.

That town should put more funding into the Horton Center, (in order to educate the citizens about surprise pregnancies) and University Hospital (for their groundbreaking work on removing computer chips from brains), and less on their law enforcement officers.

Also, after years of no contact with anyone from their former lives, Eric and Rafe left town at the drop of a hat once someone from their past showed up?

    • So yesterday I wandered off on a tangent about Elvis Presley, off the top of my head. Probably no one cares but I want to correct facts. Elvis Presley did have a twin who was stillborn. They named him Jesse Garon Presley & in a level of their emotional life he was very real to Elvis's mama & to a lesser degree to Elvis himself. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled discussing post-Ron prattle.
    • They are the absolute stars for me. I’m delighted every day that my feelings about them from the special on the show, turned out to be that and so much more. I genuinely feel episodes are better when they’re featured. This cracked me the hell up especially with Leslie listening

. This episode was so good, I will be rewatching when I get home tonight. THIS was classic soap opera.
    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
