GH to air "classic" episodes

I agree that Sam has lost any impact as a character, she's been made so weak lately. Her and Jason were a semi interesting pairing at one point but in the long run I don't find Jason to have that much chemistry with Sam. Laura Wright is definitely not on the level of Sarah Brown's gutter snipe Carly or Tamara Braun's petulant diva Carly but she gets the job done IMO. I feel like early in her run she was more spicy but now they're attempting to turn her into the town heroin which dulls her as a character. I'd rather see her be an antagonist again.

Hopefully GH wises up and airs classics soon. There's so many all storylines that directly relate to today such as Susan Moore, AJ's paternity, Michael's paternity drama, Faison, Kevin and Ryan, even Anna and Robert.

2007 is definitely not far back enough but it's looking like gold compared to today's shows. At the very least GH could at least re-air the stash from the 50th Anniversary Collection! I can't even believe CBS actually managed to air classic episodes.

Even during the Summer of Sleaze/Liason I just couldn't get on the KeMo bandwagon. But, honestly, I was over her before her first scene because of how much the soap rags hyped up her debut on GH. And to start her out with that horrific card story with IR and endless screen time... she honestly just probably never had a chance with me. LOL. But I also genuinely don't find her to be a good actress. I thought she was pretty weak during the baby Lila story and just completely laughable during Liason. It was comical to me whenever Sam would antagonize Liz at the nurse's station. I never felt anything during her struggling with Alexis/her childhood. Just never cared really because I just find her range to be very limited. After awhile I just got used to her being onscreen every. single. day. But I'll admit she seemingly put in effort back then. These days it's like she's just woken up from a nap in every scene.

As for LW, I have hated her in the role since day one. *shrugs*

No one is surprised Jasam week is next but it's still disappointing when you've got B&B airing their first episode or Y&R really digging into the vault.

You know, even if I didn't always agree with it, I could always at least understand why GH/ABC kissed Tony Geary's ass all the time.

Maurice Benard/Sonny, on the other hand? I do not get it - he's never taken this show to extreme highs never witnessed before for them to continue to act as if they should be indebted to him. If anything, the continued focus on him has cost them a huge chunk of their audience over the past 20 years.

GH had an opportunity to go deep into the archives and give fans some really great classics and this is what they choose? I mean even episodes from the 90s would have been great.

    • @alwaysAMC Great mini-review as always.  That Gilly story is...certainly one I could not forget... I imagine a number of viewers were shocked with the temporary recast. It was revealed in the soap magazines, as was the news about Frank Beaty's breakdown, I think. I think Wolf had some statements or an interview at the time but very little. I wish someone could interview him. He did a good job under extremely tough circumstances.  For some reason I have a vague memory of him in the Marian getup but that's probably not right.  I'm glad you have appreciated the material with Susan after a shaky start. I always enjoyed her, and she was the only love interest I liked Nick with.

    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJJTEW8J5EA/ 1989 Daytime Emmys Victoria Wyndham gives moving tribute to Douglas Watson, AW's Mac Cory Harding "Pete" Lemay created the character Mac Cory & then Doug Watson played him for 15 years. When Doug died on May 1st, 1989, it was a huge loss to the show, the other actors & also to the fans.

    • Jonathan Kellerman is definitely the most EON/Slesar-like writer in the business right now.  Unfortunately, he's almost 80 years old.  Interestingly, he has a son (Jesse Kellerman) who's about 45, who's been studying under him.  I believe what makes the Kellermans such effective mystery & crime writers is their background in psychology.
    • I never understood the point of Marchetti. Summer left the show for a job there in Italy. OK. When she returned they had Jack buy the company. Why couldn't Summer have returned and simply stated it was not a good fit, she missed her home , family/friends etc It was absurd that this internationally successful fashion empire could just be bought by a US cosmetics firm at the drop of a hat. What was the point when they never did anything with it at all? Summer simply could have gone to work at Jabot. And wasn't there some nonsense about an offshhoot called Marchetti Home? Was Phyllis attached to that at some point? This show...

    • Haven't seen today's ep yet but so will be interested to see the clothes. So far I think they have been very character specific (even if I don't like some of them eg Kat's cutsie style) Anita is very showy/glittery, Nicole classic elegance, Dani sexy/bold colors etc. Unlike Y&R which seems much more generic. Also BTG pays attention to the men's wardrobe and has developed a style for the boyz-which is harder to do with male fashion. The absence of any of Derek/Ashley at any of these big events again demonstrates how they are in a different universe to the rest of the show. Not that a nurse and a fireman would be there but still they seem destined at this point to stay in their own lane and have little interaction with the core of the show.
    • Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli, and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.
