First off what t he hell was that opening theme lol, is that the famous porn intro? And jesus everyone is blonde blonde blonde. Why did Ashley have such a terrible wig on? Did Traci ever have issues with Ashley being married to her ex husband? Why is Sharon so fidgety this episode, same with Nick? Is this one of those periods where they're cheating on each other? That was the first intro I ever saw and I loved it immediately, it felt like sexy primetime syndicated series lol. 2) Ashley was battling breast cancer. I assume Traci did, but I don't think Traci was much of a presence on the show at the time. 3) Sharon slept with Raul's brother and Victoria found out. She then told Nick. Sharon and Nick had broken up because Nick had somewhat caused Sharon's miscarriage (she was carrying a baby but they did not know if it was Nick's or Matt Carter's since Matt had possibly abused her). I think once Sharon saw Diego with Victoria, that was the last straw lol. Somebody correct me, my memory has never been the greatest. PS. loved the porn intro. Sharon started thinking about when she gave up Cassie and she had dreams about Matt/Carter returning. They fought and Nick walked out. Something happened with Nick's car and Sharon ran out to see if he was ok. She fell and the chair punctured her stomach. She lost the baby and was angry at Nick. They separated for a time. Cassie became close to Diego and that's how Sharon was around him more outside of CL. There was some paralegal hitting on Nick, they kissed. Then Grace Turner came back to town, Sharon saw Grace with Nick. Sharon assumed he was cheating again, she turned to Diego. Then Nick surprised her with a second honeymoon, he explained everything. They got back together. Then Diego started dating Victoria. Sharon confessed to Nick she slept with Diego. Nick attacked Diego and Victoria found out. However, the regular intro had become kind of bland by the mid to late 90’s, and the porn intro went in on dramatic shots again. The entire Abbott centric one is great- Ashley with her dress silhouette and turn, Jill shaking her hair out and strutting. I also thought Sharon and Nick looked sexy and cool in their all black shots that dissolve into each other, Brad all in black spin, and Malcolm and Olivia have great shots too. Although it is horrible that they are relegated to one opening, and several characters are in more than one. The show often had no clue just how good and important their black cast was to the audience. But the old intro had been boring for a few years. Especially when you compare it to Nikki’s hair flip, Katherine’s necklace, Ashley being given a rose, even Danny rocking out. They stopped going for the drama. This video has all the 1999 intros in one place, and you can really see the jolt the new one arrives with. When Sharon walked back into the house she fell exactly on the leg of the chair. It was beautifully coreographed IMHO. Plus it was your typical 'blame-game storyline' (a staple in Bell shows) where you would discuss with people IRL who was to blame really. Thanks for the details! I wish I had your memory! That said...today for me is EVERYTHING. Heather Tom Victoria, Mary Williams, all the Kay/Mac talk, Olivia, and Victor vs Jack in their prime. I have errands, and I REFUSE to leave...lol. I know I am in the minority but that might be because when I was a regular viewer regularly it was the one I knew, but I liked the porn intro...and I STAN Jill's hair toss. lol. But as I gotten older, I do like the older opening...my favorite one Kay with her necklace done so well with the music and classy. But I can understand why people don't like the red one. It has MORE meaning to me now that I am older because I see so much nuance to it now. Just...wow. There's an intensity, an anger that I don't feel I am used to from Victor. It looks cheap even for the early to mid-90s (especially since comparatively GH and OLTL at the time had rock solid openings). The sketches however were GORGEOUS.
