Bill Bell’s last story would make a great week too- Nikki shot, Victor marrying her on her deathbed.

I hope for earlier stuff too, but there are some gems in those later Bill Bell years/Alden solo.

Miller was great on his first year on the show or so; once he was up for "intense contract negotiations" every fall he became an increasing lazy diva, at least on Y&R because his primetime gigs showed he could do much better. And the show catering to Heinle to fire David Tom? Notice she's never opened her mouth up since lol.

Yep. I agree on Miller. I was thrilled when he left and of course he showed up on GH. He and Heinle together was ... yikes.

Doug Davidson: Bill [Bell, Y&R’s co-creator, head writer, and senior executive producer] was a master at building to a climax like the honeymoon and from there it would break off into three or four different stories. Characters would go onto different rivers of their own. There wasn’t really a let down after a climax. It was like going to a different altitude.

PRECISELY. That was the beauty of Y&R, when one story was crescendo-ing another was just revving up and another was barely off the ground. It was magic.

And that's exactly what's missing from all four soaps left. Especially Y&R.

Billy and Victoria should never have hooked up.

Even with the crazy and inconsistent SORASING they belonged in separate age tiers.

I remember early Billy Miller and Jack talking to Billy and recognizing his early 'playboy' persona in his younger brother. Miller was totally fine in his initial appearances.

Billy/Mac/Chloe had promise but the writing let them down.

Billy/Victoria was just some crackpot idea to have Newmans and Abbotts butt heads again.

Even more so because Billy and Victoria will always be David and Heather Tom to me.

Count me in as another Billy/Chloe fan. They worked - both on paper and chemistry-wise. Of course the writers ruined everything.

Cuomo is on right now, so it's anyone's guess if we'll get the episode live. At least they'll put it up online.

At this point, I'd rather pre-empt Y&R (and every other soap) if it meant getting to listen to Cuomo and not Mr. "Let Them Drink Bleach!".

Well, that goes without saying!

J. Eddie Peck was nearing 40 years old in this episode and looks absolutely flawless.

Phyllis used to be such a fun character.

Doris Collins! I have very distinct memories of my aunt referring to her as “Sharon’s mama in that wheelchea.” A character like Doris, folding her towels with her little tabletop oscillating fan whirring in the background, wouldn’t have been taken seriously on soaps just five years after this episode aired.

Re: pre-emptions. I feel as though Governor JBE here in Louisiana knows that you don’t fck with people’s stories. All of our interruptions have been during The Talk.

It's nice to see Cole again. I always liked J Eddie Peck in this role. He's looking good in this episode and so is Heather Tom. I like her/Victoria's hair color during this time.

Heather Tom was such a gifted and open young actress. You can just see so many emotions passing over her in one little scene. Katie gives her nothing to work with, and she’s hardened into a lot of bad patterns.

I love the classic “affair/cheating” jazz score was used while Ryan was daydreaming, always used when someone was having an affair!
