OMG.  If this is true....

(Too bad you can't sue the government, though.  Otherwise, ours would be sued up the ying-yang by all those individuals with lingering, debilitating conditions as a result of contracting this virus.)

How ironic that an administration dead set on getting people (and especially people who arrived here "illegally") OFF the government dole could wind up having more people on unemployment, disability, food stamps and other "entitlements" than ever before.  So much for making America great again.

Yup, lol.

But seriously.  Whenever you hit Republicans with actual, confirmed, indisputable facts and statistics -- and not what was overheard at the country club -- their go-to response is, well, no response at all.  They just shut down, claim you're just being close-minded, etc., because they know they've been had.

I'm learning this from my own arguments w/ Mama Khan.

This has been the claim and stated promise of every Republican presidential administration in the U.S. since I've been alive. The economy always seems to end up with more people on the "dole" upon their exit from office.

What very few governments outside of Singapore, Denmark and a few other countries seem to want to acknowledge is that what would best keep people from relying too much on the government would be jobs that actually paid people a living wage that was sustaining enough for people to care of themselves and others (family). It's alarming how seemingly comfortable Americans now appear to be with the reality that most people live paycheck to paycheck and very few people have enough savings to endure an emergency situation, in the short-term, let alone longer term.

This crisis has cast a harsh glare on all the deficiencies in the system. And this is the worst possible time to have someone like Trump in office.  No time is good but this has to be one of the worst.

Same old bullshit. And the media falls for it every time.

President Donald Trump invoked sweeping war powers last week to demand that General Motors start producing ventilators, but so far his administration has done little to enforce the order.

The president's top trade official, Peter Navarro, told POLITICO the administration has not been able to verify whether GM has made any progress since the Defense Production Act was invoked, raising questions about whether the full powers of the federal government are being used to urgently produce ventilators.

Here is some more information regarding the stimulus checks. The first round of checks are expected to be distributed around the week of April 13th, for people who have filed either their 2018 or 2019 Tax Returns and used direct deposit information. Lower income people will get their checks first. Paper checks will start to be mailed out around early May. The government intends to send out five million checks a week and it could take up to 20 weeks for some people to get their payments (if they are getting a check). The IRS will also be creating a portal either late this month or early May so people can enter their direct deposit information:

I'm also glad that Seniors on Social Security do not have to file a simple tax return. Yesterday, I was talking to a sweet old lady who had called into the office, who was so happy she didn't have to file a return. She lives alone and was willing to come out and file and pay somebody to do it for her. I'm glad that she and other seniors who's only income is Social Security don't have to risk coming out, dealing with exposure and possibly having to pay someone to file unnecessary returns for them. They can just get it direct deposited to their accounts like they do their SS income.
