Members Juliajms
It's always a little sad when someone I've liked has their head up their ass. And I feel bad for ED as well. As a mother you just cannot trust anyone it seems. I saw the article in The Atlantic characterizing it that way. I read the whole article the original woman wrote and I didn't see it as revenge porn at all. I do see it as a bit of a different issue. I think women are really taught to be too nice. I can think of a few times when I was young when I wish I had just walked away, instead of being polite. I also think men are taught that it's ok to keep pushing someone even after they've said "no". That isn't rape or assault, but I do like that people are talking more about what consent really looks like.
Members amybrickwallace
That's why I'm glad I don't have children of my own. I am an aunt, and I do worry about my siblings' kids. They are all under 13 and at those impressionable ages with so much more to worry about as far as the Internet and other things that weren't around when I was a kid.
Members DramatistDreamer
If nothing else, people will have to reassess what it considered acceptable and unacceptable boundaries because it can often be somewhat vague.
Members amybrickwallace
Agreed, and the more clear those boundaries are the better.
Members DRW50
I saw that Ashleigh Banfield, one of those interchangeable reporters who was pushed more for what people wanted her to be than what she actually was, was upset at this woman who accused Aziz because the woman had ruined her "dream." That's one of the problems with so much of social justice crusading - it's narcissism wrapped up in helping others. Ashleigh Banfield is fine with helping herself and "sisters" like her, but look out if you don't go along with what suits her and her agenda. If one case or story can ruin an entire movement, then either the movement is very flimsy, or some are actively working to sabotage the movement because it does not suit their purposes anymore.
Members Juliajms
^ You would think someone like AB would be close enough to celebrity to realize that unless you know someone well personally, you don't know them. I'm certainly disappointed when people I admire are shown to be predators, but ruined a dream? She needs to grow up STAT.

Members DRW50
I saw that Glenn Greenwald was jumping up and down for Banfield on Twitter. I have no trust in her or in him and I have to wonder what their agenda is. As for whoever wrote that article, she sounds like she's read too many Slate think pieces and believes they're how to operate in the real world. A waste of time.
Members amybrickwallace
Did anyone else see Ann Curry's interview yesterday? I think she said a lot without saying a lot, if you know what I mean. https://www.google.com/amp/variety.com/2018/tv/news/ann-curry-tv-interview-cbs-this-morning-matt-later-sexual-harassment-1202666811/amp/
Members amybrickwallace
It's stories like this that really break my heart. It's sickening that the likes of Allen and Polanski are still working and not in jail. https://pagesix.com/2018/01/18/dylan-farrow-on-woody-allens-alleged-sexual-abuse-i-loved-my-father/
