Two things...
What real life city (in some of the mid to late 80's episodes released) shown is supposed to represent everyday Corinth? I feel like LOVING saw what Paul Rauch was doing in creating a look for Llanview in his opening credits for One Life to Live, (I been to Harrisburg by the way), so LOVING was trying to do the same.
Also, around COVID a new (and still in my life) friend and I created a LOVING reboot. Somehow Christopher Marcantel (the original Curtis Alden) took notice and was intrigued at the idea and reached out to me and I showed him an edit of the character bible, with pictures of the cast - Ann, Lorna, JJ, and Heather made up the Forbes family, with JJ a cop, and Heather a reporter for the Corinthian (online). Tyler Alden was the Curtis Alden character trying to resurrect AE in the corporate world, and with no scruples, stemming from harboring the secret and self-loathing for being gay. Ann and Lorna fell in love with the new president of Alden U. Shana married Mike and lived together with Patty (who some correct me because I always thought...), who had Downs Syndrome. Shana had raised JJ and Heather as well, which caused some contention into the current story between she and Ann. Dr. Frankie Hubbard and his wife Randi Morgan Hubbard moved to town for Frankie to practice medicine at Corinth Memorial Hospital. Mike Donovan still had bouts of PTSD and started therapy in the same department Dr. Lily Slater, a psychiatrist, now worked in using music therapy to treat her patients. Over in Milltown, Alexis Masters connived to be the ultimate blogger/influencer, and with her sensationalism was a rival to Heather's more ethical approach in the media wars. While Alexis' brother Xandy, upheld the law with friend and soon-to-be business partner JJ with whom he wanted to open a microbrewery in the old Dooley's Bar. A college student named Tommy (hmmm, I wonder who he would have been related to), would have lived in Kate Rescott's renovated boarding house... if there is enough interest, I am happy to share what I wrote and post on here.
I never did hear back from Mr. Marcantel, but there was/is no umbrage felt - honest, as people have told me he self-admittingly states on Facebook he is notorious for not returning emails. He is busy with his own production company too... However, I was honored he inquired and would work with him in a heartbeat if he asked - as my thought was to bring Lauren Marie-Taylor back as omniscient narrator (ala Desperate Housewives Mary Alice Young), Stacey Donovan Forbes... and bring Marcantel's Curtis Alden back from the dead - in some plausible way that he evaded his submersion tank death and has been hiding out in the puzzle box room of his late family's mansion where he would plot and plan to take over in the name of Sullivan...
I wondered if any rights to acquire the show would have maybe deterred any further discussion between us (not wanting to give false hope), or maybe my initial view missed the mark on what LOVING was all about. But it would be fun to make it into a podcast..
