EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

What I've heard in regards to AMC is that because the show ended with the audience not knowing who was shot & presumably killed, PP is intentionally not announcing all of the returning cast members.

For the record Errol, I wasn't making fun of you. It's just every kernel of information, regardless of reliability, has been dissected to death. And in the end I don't think we know much at all. So "not reporting" no new information just made me laugh. I hope you weren't offended.

Side note: I'm sooo excited that Petey and Colby might be re-explored. Despite disliking the Colby actress at the time, I loved Petey and Colby. The idea of Palmer Cortlandt's son and Adam Chandler's daughter together is as golden as the son of Sonny Corinthos and the daughter of Luke Spencer together. Soap perfection.

ITA! It might be just me, but I'm glad they're bringing on teenage versions of AJ & Miranda, too. It looks like Agnes and the writers are building up the next generation of the main families.

Re: Cam Mathison and others that can't film at the startup: can't they still announce them with a disclaimer that they'll be joining in a few months' time? I don't see why not, they could easily sign them now with a clause specifying that in the contract.

At this point, I'm 99% sure of Michael Knight, but I don't know about the rest. I'm hopeful that Julia Barr and David Canary will at least make guest appearances!

I know PP didn't announce her joining, but they also didn't ask her to keep it quiet to protect the cliffhanger.

Was Dixie in the room when JR started shooting? I remember her upstairs talking to David. I guess I'll need to re-watch the finale before the new shows start.

Yes, every contract and recurring cast member was in the room at the time except for Stuart and Marian who were leaving the hospital to get to the party

Eh, it doesn't really matter. Give it time. Eventually Cady will irritate another writer into killing Dixie off again. I just pray that when they do, they let her stay dead.

Bite your tongue. The only thing keeping my All My Children enthusiasm level at a fever pitch is the hope that Cameron Mathison will NEVER announce that he is going to be a part of any of this. [shudders @ the mere thought]. Not even a framed photo of him on Spike's bedroom wall. We are all due a clean slate when it comes to Ryan Lavery.

To this day, the reveal feels very anticlimactic to me. Here, we have a whodunnit that literally had the entire nation - if not the entire globe - in its' grip, and she's the one who turns out to be the culprit?

Well, it's been a long time since the entire story unfolded, and I still can't recall or make sense of all the twists and turns...sigh...but I'll try, lol.
Basically, Rosanna, who is married to Craig at this point, wants a baby. Craig, however, doesn't want a baby - I guess, because he had just lost Bryant? - but to appease his wife, he arranges for an adoption.
Rosanna learns that the adoption (of their son, whom she names "Cabot") was illegal and that she has to give Cabot back to his biological mother, who lives, offscreen, in Canada. Rosanna dumps Craig and leaves Oakdale (and somewhere, in the middle of all this, Rosanna falls in love with Paul Ryan, too).
In the meantime, Rosanna gets back in touch with Cabot's bio mom, who tells her that she could have Cabot back, but only if she convinces Jordan Sinclair to marry her. (Don't ask me why, lol).
So, Rosanna does just that: she cons Jordan into marrying her. It's only AFTER they marry, however, that Jordan learns he is Cabot's biological father. (I think this is also when Jordan learns he, himself, is James Stenbeck's illegitimate son, but I'm not sure).
Rosanna panics when she learns that James is Cabot's paternal grandfather and abducts the baby. James, in turn, abducts Cabot and Rosanna and leaves them to die in a burning building. Someone - Jordan? Paul? - rescues Rosanna, but the baby is presumed dead. Jordan annulls his and Rosanna's marriage and leaves town.
Barbara, who had crossed over to the dark side with James, plots with him to implicate Emily in some bizarre scheme to drive Rosanna crazy with the suggestion that her baby was still alive (which he was, James had rescued Cabot from that fire). Rosanna agrees to dump Paul in exchange for getting Cabot back. Rosanna leaves Oakdale again.
Some time later, though, Craig finds Rosanna (and Cabot) someplace out of the country. Rosanna is devoted to her son, but realizes that she has to give up baby Cabot for adoption again, or else he'll always be in danger of being taken by James Stenbeck...
...which, I think, led us straight into the Jennifer/Gwen baby switch, but whatever. I mean, all that drama over a child that ended up being given away anyway, and a baby drama that led us only to yet another baby drama. No wonder I ended up on antidepressants, lol.

I've always said KT is incapable of playing deep nuance or much earnest pathos and recent events have borne that out again.

I still remember the gloriously outspoken HBS letting that info out in an interview. IIRC Nora was at a funeral and she didn’t know who it was that died or why Nora was there. I know it has gotten even harder.
This is kind of a hybrid version of the way that most films work. But the problem is the volume of material and so many stories that they clearly often just cut out the little character bits and details to keep it pumping. And as I said, sometimes it’s more noticeable than others. And it’s a talent schedule thing. Which is also why sometimes they give the lines to a performer tangentially connected to a story because of a schedule issue and they go with who they have. Mostly supporting, not the lead part of the story.
As far as the directing credits go, I have no idea. I know that many of us speculated that several scriptwriters listed per day showed they had to credit from the several scripts they used, not sure what’s up with directing.
On to the actual show. I see a lot of complaints about Dante. He is very hard on Gio. But the son he raised just got charged with felonies and locked up, there was vital information they did not know, and he has the last trauma with his part in Michael going to prison. I also think this is pretty typical soap conflict behavior. Do people watching now really want all these characters to be perfect and never have conflict? For GH this part of the story is mostly about actual human feelings, although heightened for soaps. It’s how I feel about Drew too. We need conflict in this show! There was a several year period recently where everything was generic and genial and boring- I don’t want to go back to that.
And people can miss me with Britt defending. She’s up to her eyeballs in something shady and she isn’t capable of playing any layers that make it seem like her hand is truly forced. Yes her medication. But that scene with Emma was ridiculous because poor Britt.
Also- all those extras for a debate and voting booths, and the hospital is practically abandoned. There was more staff in the Haddonfield Clinic in Halloween 2 than GH these days.

The opening credits featuring Lauralee, Beth, Tracey etc
It says something when the guest list was basically recurring players. To think that might be the last time we see Tricia. But she nailed it giving Cane what he deserved. Just wish she's go with a more flattering hair color-that dark brown is too harsh.
Patty/Gina still looks good.
Why was Diane there? A throwback to her and Cricket being Jabot models?
Phyllis was even more intolerable than usual-she just comes across as pathetic. And poor Billy Flynn looking like 'this isn't what I signed up for'

That’s awesome, because we know Slesar was very detailed in crafting his mysteries. I still think Edge of Night would be an excellent reboot. Right down to that early 80’s theme. Geraldine was a great soap grande dame.
Did she play a hooker? For some reason I remember an article bringing that up. I really should read more of that unpublished book.
