I think it was before, his GH stint was the Summer of '85.

I'm guessing his character could've easily have been redeemed ala Sean if the character took off. I could see a Preston/Holly pairing long term if ES didn't leave the show that fall. He was written out abruptly after kidnapping Holly.

I finally watched the State of Mind with Shelly Curtis.  I would kill for some of these folks to be interviewed about their careers and time on GH like that amazing OLTL book.  I know MB had her and Riche on to basically thank them and hear what his breakdown looked like from their perspectives.  But all I wanted to hear was more of the stuff she learned from working with Monty and editing- especially her ability to edit while doing the shots, and her title of queen of the sex scenes.

I also absolutely loved the not so subtle shade she cast on Frank’s vision- that even with no time she is capable of finding moments because she can pare it down in her head to what matters most per show.  I haven’t ever heard anyone put it that way really with soaps, but it’s true.  When you have an emotional centerpiece of that day’s episode, and all of them should have that, you get through the more mundane scenes and move your extra time to craft the one most important for that one episode.

When I think of what has been missing on the current show it’s that- everything is treated with the same bland, generic hand. And the drama just never happens, never peaks.  I bet had she been at GH with the same scripts from the last two years it would have been infinitely better.

It's kind of like what her former colleague and boss, Al Rabin, said once about producing DAYS.  With every scene, he always asked, "What have we shared with the audience?".  Rabin, Curtis and the rest of that team were very big on getting to the heart of each scene, so that every emotion at play was palpable for the audience.  That's why I loved DAYS back in the '80's, even if it wasn't the same show it had been the decade before.

Two clips, less than 20 minutes, and this had more stakes, told more story, had heart and even humor (thank you Tiffany Hill).  The current show could use more of this.  More actual meat to this storytelling.

I thought so back then, and I still think so now rewatching this- GF and MB had great chemistry.  And Sonny was so hot back then.  So was Garcia- what a waste there.

And Tiffany’s comment when Sean finds her at the police station is so funny.  Tiffany was a fun character.  It is easy to forget just how volatile both Luke and Laura could be after she was reduced to Earth Mother and he became so disenchanted.

    • It's doubly a shame because one thing Long excelled at was using backstory to enhance the present story. I think that's one reason why Josh and Reva took off the way they did--the early stuff is really good. (Unfortunately, they ruined it by overusing the characters). Imagine if Roger returned to get involved with Alex, and her brother and ex, who used to be dire enemies, came together to oppose him. Instead, Mike was nowhere to be seen and Alan was written out for years. Yes, casting would have been an issue, but when you think about what they wound up with for 15 years...
    • I've never been so annoyed to be running late. lol   EVERYONE looks so pretty.   Happy to see Andre and Eva interacting, Mona being there, and happy to see Nicole play matchmaker for Dani. Fingers crossed that FOINE doctor from Nicole's last event pops up.   @kalbir Andre looking like a snack in that tux.

      Lmao!!!!
    • Also gotta feel sorry for Mona, realizing today was that she’s only known Leslie for a few months; she’s going to blame herself for all of this.
    • The way this show handled Nikolas' shooting Hayden, Austin's murder, the long slow delay to getting rid of Cyrus, etc. we're likely to have it revealed in a year when Nina is 3 weeks away from leaving and has had minimal airtime.
    • Interesting. I love my Roku.  No, I don't know. Who? I mean Disney def does. I would think a number of parties have stocks.
    • Is he still spamming demands that they hire the campy chick from The Haves and Have Nots? Or whichever show it was. I don't think it's an either/or. I happen to think Dana, Dani, Eva, Nicole, Kat, etc. are all great. Certain folks aren't going to be some posters' favorites and that's fair enough. But I would argue most of those characters above (and several others) have caught on with a lot of the online audience. I've even warmed up to Martin!
    • We get it, you don't like this show or the actors. You've said that over and over again, Mr. Vanguard America/VDARE.
    • Lol at the WSB hot guy asking Joss if she was okay with betraying her friends.  Of course she is! Chase coming in hot at Dante was a choice. It's also quite hypocritical since Chase is lying to him about Dante's own child and making Lulu the bad guy.  Talk to the grown woman yourself Chase.  Don't make Dante do it. Lulu and Laura had some great scenes. The Rocco/Danny party is obvious an anvil for something happening and probably the Gio secret coming out. The Willow/Drew/Nina scenes were kind of anti-climatic?  I get why Nina chose this path as the way to get rid of Drew, but will anyone ever find out Drew was sleeping with Nina?
