April 14, 201115 yr Member All day at work I had an odd feeling (it was a terrible day and I kept saying today is was one those surrealistic days, like a Twilight Zone episode. I kept checking my Comcast homepage and I knew what I would find- and there it was... I knew this was coming and I thought I was ready. I actually got tears in my eyes. (hides head in shame) I loved this show, and it just goes so far back that it becomes part of your life. It represents other things. Better times. Lost dreams. Milestones. Life itself. I am very sad for the AMC fans too, and especially for Susan Lucci. I thought it was funny how "dumb" I thought she sounded making her comments to the press. Now I feel horrible for her. It is just a huge slap in the face. All I can say is what Erika Slezak said at her 40th anniversary. It has been magical.
April 14, 201115 yr Member Toups just posted that OLTL beat GH in Total Viewers this week in the ratings......lol And GH is the safe one It's the demos that matter though, not total viewers

April 14, 201115 yr Member Jackie M is so played out and I think the show finally realizes it as they havent been featured in months. The stuff with Jackie, Owen and Bridget was going strong last year and now its non-existent. Id love to see the REAL Spectras return and not this cheap immitation. I've noticed that too. If Brad was smart, he'd ditch the lame Jackie M clan and bring back the Spectras.
April 14, 201115 yr Member I seem to always have trouble embedding videos on here, but here's is one from the Associate Press... http://www.youtube.com/user/AssociatedPress#p/u/3/Txo_XTqzzOo
April 14, 201115 yr Member I was in the first grade and that was a very good Transformers and G.I. Joe-filled Christmas. Which brings me to what Khan was saying... this goodbye is goodbye to a very warm chapter of my childhood. I started watching again, if only half-watching, when I lost my mom and the stories have been a pleasant if only subliminal reminder of her. At least the next time I see her I can say, "Oh Ma, you didn't miss that much. " I broke the news to my grandma a little while ago and she was surprisngly nonplussed about it seeing as how my grandparents could probably count on their four hands combined the number of episodes they've missed over the past 30 years. I sense that it had become routine, at times even an albatross. I think I needed her reaction. We'll miss it, but we know that we already got the best it was ever going to offer. That's def why it's upset me so much, and I'm sure it's true of most fans. OLTL but especially AMC were like family for me and a sense of comfort--no matter where I was, when I moved cross country and knew no one, etc, I knew it was there for an hour every day. That said, I wish I could feel the same way as you, and maybe eventually I will. I know you're right. And yet, I'm kinda embarassed to say with the amount of hate the shows in their current state get, but I was really starting to enjoy AMC again--prob more than most tv I watch (except for a couple of cable shows)--and would look forward to it after a long day at work. I did feel it was getting some of its mojo back and honestly don't think I was watching merely out of habit. I called my mom with the news and she was genuinely more upset than I ever expected--I sorta thought she just watched it every day after work now cuz it reminded her of me--but she shouted that she was throwing out her tv. (To be fair she watches next to no tv...)
April 14, 201115 yr Member Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca) A sad day for us in Pine Valley ... thank you for your years of support and, for me, the recent love and acceptance of a new face for Bianca. Much more to come, and keep watching until the end - we, in Pine Valley, will be in the fight til the end, for you xx Shannon Kane (Natalia) Farewell to All My Children!! It's so sad to see it go, but it went 40 years strong!! I feel blessed to have been a part of history. All my love to the cast and crew!! xoxo
April 14, 201115 yr Member I've noticed that too. If Brad was smart, he'd ditch the lame Jackie M clan and bring back the Spectras. He won't--his dad created the Spectras, and he created the "Jackie M clan"--simple enough.

All my love to the cast and crew!! xoxo You know, I've held it together all day, but for some reason...this got me. Especially CBL saying they'll be there in the fight until the end. I can't let myself cry, but damn do I want too.
April 14, 201115 yr Member I seem to always have trouble embedding videos on here, but here's is one from the Associate Press... http://www.youtube.com/user/AssociatedPress#p/u/3/Txo_XTqzzOo LOL Such non classic clips of all three shows to use--and random that AMC's are from some years back but OLTL's (and maybe GH's?) from this week...
April 14, 201115 yr Member Gina Tognoni: terribly super sad day. I am grateful for the opportunity One life had given me over the years it is a piece of my heart- love you gt
April 14, 201115 yr Member Frons from the EW article: “Viewership for the shows is in a decline,” he said. “We had trouble making profit on these shows, particularly on All My Children.” I'm willing to bet if OLTL had been moved to LA instead of AMC, it would not have been canceled with AMC today. But Frons bet on the wrong horse. I remain entirely unconvinced--it sounds to me that for a while now it made sense for them to cancel both together. Either way, the move seemed like a massive waste of money at the time, and even more so now.
April 14, 201115 yr Member And watch that douche Frons pull all the YT clips and stuff after they go. Just like Moonves did to ATWT and GL.
April 14, 201115 yr Member Selena, you are like Suzanne Sugarbaker and Betty Butterfield rolled into one, you crack me up! "Also not in the cards is a potential ABC daytime talk show with departing CBS Evening Newsanchor Katie Couric. 'I'm not talking to her,' Frons said." What an odd, bitchy-sounding note to end an interview on.
April 14, 201115 yr Member Leo and the Gillian double drive Rylee to murder/suicide and then dance on their graves, while a green butterfly flaps overhead. That works too!
