I want to agree, but this is going to be used for years-long voter suppression efforts, so I feel like if there's a way to break through this may be one of the last chances we have to do so. Sadly I guess it is probably too late, and the time was before the election, when state legislatures were still up for grabs.

Carl, you know I like you, but you need to look at the big picture: Even with ALL of the schitt the GOP tried for this election, Joe Biden got the MOST VOTES OF ANY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIATE IN HISTORY.

I'm not naive; I know the GOP is filled with criminals. But the alert percentage of voters didn't bite - and won't. Again, my point stands: The ignorant buy into it all because it makes them feel superior.

And this is why I am so grateful to have intelligent, focused people on our side like Stacey Abrams. I hope she can help both GA candidates steal the Senate from Turtle. Being MINORITY leader would kill him.

And if it doesn't happen? Well, Joe does have the EO that Don so loved if the Senate won't cooperate. And there is ALWAYS 2022. Never lose hope. Then the bastards win.

For me the big picture is they are trying to work to make sure what we saw with Biden never happens again. I am in no way trying to take away from Biden, or Stacey Abrams. I am just posting this stuff because I feel like we need to keep an eye on all the disinformation they spread. That's all.

I'm sure I'm probably more to the left of most of the people here (just by virtue of my location and whatever), so I'm not trying to sound ignorant when I ask this, but what's the deal with the AOC hate from the liberal side of things? I'll admit I've only see her on twitter and CNN and she seems aggressive but relatively harmless. However, I see so much dislike here and from in the news and that also seems really valid, so I'm just left confused. I get the issue with Bernie, but she seems innocuous to me so I feel like I'm clearly missing something. I get the Democrats are the left wing party, but not super far to the left, so is that the issue? Is it her personally? The idea of not wanting to push the party too far to the left?

Although I must admit that I personally don't hate AOC, I do think that the enmity comes from the fact that she and the Justice Democrats insist on primary-ing members of their own party, in other words, other Democrats, which many see as shooting oneself in the proverbial foot, aka, "friendly fire". AOC's primary victory over an incumbent years ago, not withstanding, many of the insurgent candidates backed by the Justice Democrats in the NYC area challenged other Democrats who were also Black and viewed as being highly effective within their respective communities. It has been seen as an affront encouraged by other Justice Democrats, but namely her, as she is the most visible member. Also, for all her starpower, she is seen by many as not being nearly as effective in her job as a Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, who was elected at the same time but with little fanfare, has actually managed to successfully write and/or co-sign successful legislation.

    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
