This show is beyond redemption.

I can't believe how disrespectful this was to Julia and to her fans. After THIRTY years of her putting her heart and soul into the role of Brooke, they can't even muster a decent goodbye for her?!!!?? That is just unbelievable. No wonder Frons hasn't fixed any of the shows. He is a complete moron who doesn't respect the audience. He thinks that if he pushes the audience hard enough, we will just accept everything and anything no matter how lame and horrible it is. Alexa/Babe and Alicia/Kendall better be careful. In a few years, he will probably do the same thing to them. And Susan/Erica, her days might already be numbered.

I guess we aren't as Frons would say "trained" yet to accept the crap they keep shoveling at us.

I'm disgusted. That's all I can say- AMC has sunk to a new low. I heard it would be something along these lines, but Simone's funeral? ATROCIOUS. Even my Marcy got an actual good-bye show, complete with flashbacks, when Liza was written out. Julia Barr deserves that and more- Brooke was HUGE part of AMC and its history, far more important than Liza IMO. F You AMC. F You.

This is absolutely unforgiveable. They can't even write a good good-bye for Brooke, yet they continue to write for the horrible Jonathan, Zarf, FakeLee Annie, Josh and Babe & Krystal????!!! WTF???? After 35+ years on this show, Julia Barr should NOT be off the show, but if she's gonna be off, she should get a great goodbye. Like a lot of you have already said, F U ALL MY CHILDREN, Brian Frons, Megan McTavish and Julie Carruthers. I also say F U Jonathan, Zarf, Annie, Babe, Josh & Krystal.

This is just sick. Her final scenes are as an extra in the funeral for someone who was never more than a minor character?

Terri Ivens is friends with Julie Carruthers; Brian Frons adores her, so she gets a big emotional exit. Barr gets nothing.

Whoever maintained that Carruthers wasn't the classy EP everyone (including me) thought she was, you were right all along.

Why invest in any character? Even if I liked Babe, which I don't, why bother? If this piece of sh*t show is even on 20 years from now, which it won't, she'll just suddenly vanish one day. Why invest years in someone for no closure?

Vincent got some final scenes but even his exit was lacklustre at best.

So AMC is down to Erica, Jackson, Adam, Tad, and Dixie as the only vets left with any iota of interest shown by TPTB. FIVE people, and Walt's time on the show is ticking.

I never thought I'd see the day that AMC was the worst ABC soap in the treatment of its vets.

Don't you think if this were true, we would have seen more of Simone in that last 3 years???

No. Elizabeth Hendrickson for example said at an event that Frons was her biggest fan but that Megan wanted to focus on her character, Babe. Megan writes the show. Frons is a media whore and an idiot but Megan, as well as Bob Guza have enormous power. Guza even said last year at some point that he had never had so much power at GH and so little interference from the network, and he has worked under 3 different Daytime presidents.

See - I don't know about that. I've heard several times that Frons is in LOVE with Babe.

Who really knows though unless you're there in the offices. I've heard it both ways. But if the daytime president and exec. producer love an actress and a character - then I'd imagine they'd fight to get that actor on the screen more often. The head writer doesn't have more power IMO.

I was definitely one of those people -- not that I'm a person who likes to say I told ya so!

Amen.

A network president can suggest REALLY LOUDLY about what they want done on the show(s), but it's up to the executive producers and head writers to decide if they want to take those suggestions, or not. If they have their own personal relationship with Frons, I'm sure Megan or Julie knows when she's expected to toe the company line and when she can get away with departing where she wants as well. And when Frons and Megan share the same view (i.e. BABE IS THE BEST CHARACTER EVER!!!), then it's off to the races.

Don't let the party line fool you. Brian Frons is highly unlikely to be sitting in his office penning story outlines and treatments for all of his favorite characters. He just, like I said, makes it known what he likes and who he likes and encourages the respective shows to write for them. But, yes, Frons clearly liked Terri/Simone because why else would an actress playing such a minor character be kept on contract when everyone else (Vincent/David, Jill/Opal, Tonya/Livia, Julia/Brooke) that actually has a much richer history than the Simone character would all be written out or placed on recurring?

You took the words right out of my mouth (or fingers since I'm typing, :P).

I'm glad I stopped watching already. I can't stand Jonathan, Zarf, Annie, Babe, Josh or Krystal and I second that F U to all of them and to Frons, Carruthers, and especially the biggest hack of all time, McTavish.

Brooke was a central character for over 25 years and to just dismiss her like this is an insult to us longtime viewers, imo! The AMC I fell in love with as a preteen in 1980 has been decimated and in its place is the worst soap on TV. I'm mourning the loss, but I won't watch this s-h-i-t. I can't wait for Frons, Carruthers, and McT to all be fired.

This is so shabby. Julia deserved a much better exit and Brooke's fans certainly deserved more.

But folks this is AMC. It has become a virtual cesspool over the past couple of years. How else did a one time great show turn into the show that continually shows the same few actors relentlessly and ignores every plea fans make(including sinking ratings)? The people in charge there DO NOT CARE about actors or fans.

And while I'm at it, I am appalled at the "party line" we hear so often being mouthed by current and exiting actors from AMC. I know the actors work for the company, but this is absurd. Julia was classy, but she did not demean herself with facile lies. Kudos to her! And kudos to those actors at OLTL who spoke the truth and were not afraid to do so concerning Dan Gauthier.

Frankly, AMC deserves cancellation. It would be merciful.

WOW. I'm not an AMC viewer but that really is pathetic and disgraceful.

Well, I'm thankful Brooke didn't fall prey to the serial killer. At least there is a chance (likely slim) that Brooke may resurface one day.

Uh...off-screen murder or death anyone?! I mean, I'm happy they aren't gonna Frankie Frame her, but I wouldn't assume anything at this point.

  • Member

If they murdered her off screen, they would have to at least mention her and that isn't going to happen. Jamie, Tad, and the other characters would have to devote time to grieve over Brooke. They couldn't give her a decent exit so the writers will probably have some throw away line saying that she has left town. There is just absolutely no respect for Julia or her fans. For any AMC fan at all for that matter.
