AMC: Seriously!! WHEN is something going to be done to fix this soap!

Here is how I feel about AMC. I bought a new VCR about a year ago. Always taped AMC every day, then watched it when I got home at night. About a month ago the FF button on my remote quit working. I tried everything to get it to work, but it just won't come around. Basically I have ff'd so much of the show over the past year, that I actually broke the button on my VCR. This is what 15 years of loyal AMC viewership gets you. I hope and pray everyday that McTavish will get fired and Frons at least stops poking his nose in where it does not belong on ALL ABC SOAPS! TIIC really have NO idea how many long-time viewers are this close to tuning out.

Poor Kyle!!! I know how big a fan you are of Erica and it's sad the show broke you so much that you are walking away. :( *cyber hugs to Kylie*

Hey I could go to the AMC studios, talk some smack on your behalf ...N.Y.C is only a train ride away. LOL :)

Thanks for the cyber hugs, I need them. LOL *send them back*

I tried to hang on. I tried to hope. I tried to believe that someone would come and fix this. But, I can't do it anymore. Erica and Jeff is the last straw. My Diva would never, ever, in a million years want Jeff Martin. Never. Fetus or no fetus. And this makes me sick. Hell, I've waited 18 years for J&E to self destruct like this, and now, I don't care. I'd rather they stayed married. :o I'd rather Erica not die completely.

I can't fight anymore, because there's nothing to win. There's been no sign that AMC is listening to us. There's been no sign that they care or even want to save our show. There's nothing. Just the same ole same ole, day in and day out.

I'll keep AMC in my heart, and hope against hope for the rest of you that hang on, that the miracle will come. :) But for this AMC fan, it was over a long time ago. I'm jumping head first off this boat come David's last day, and never looking back.

I read that Erica basically told off Josh today, that kinda makes me feel good. I can't wait to see that ;)

This may be bad, but I just started watching DAYS instead of AMC. My heart is breaking.

I think Days is good, but I'm probably in the minority but haven't seen much of a change in Days

Sorry I guess we just disagree ;) I believe any show can be salvaged, it just needs to be done right away. Personally I think Guiding Light is in much worse shape with the Marvel crap, but I believe it can be salvaged.

How is GL in worse shape by 1 episode that tied in with Halloween? I don't get that statement. If it was a whole story arc then we would have a problem. Besides CBS is doing some major changes with all of it's soaps for them to survive. They have had the most consistant daytime lineup for 20 years. In that time ABC has canceled Ryan's Hope, Loving, The City, & Port Charles. Not to mention the latter two were pimped for the younger demographics that ABC oh so craves. Port Charles gets canceled and ABC uses it as a opportunity to use the same tactics used on AMC. First AMC gets a new opening, it's an obvious rip off of PC's theme music. OLTL gets their opening and still PC's "youthfulness" is rubbed off on it. GH gets their new opening and well....u see the trend. Each show lost it's identity in the process and is continuing to lose it every day. This was the plan from Jump and basically Frons is saying accept it or else. From what I see there is no major changes are in store for any of ABC soaps. The handwriting is on the wall, which is a sad sad thing to watch. I'm just praying for the ABCD fans sake that some get their thumbs out there asses and smell the sh*t that has been thrown at their fans.

I used to believe that AMC could be saved, but with more vets and cast purges it's not possible. I feel that this is a sign that they may be closing up shop in a few years.

I honestly don't blame you..DAYS is by FAR superior to AMC at this moment!!

Does anyone else have as hard of a time as I do believing that this is what's become of AMC? That there doesn't seem to be anyone at ABCD who thinks enough about AMC to see what's being done to it? I just don't understand why no one is willing to step in and do something. Why is it left on us to try and save our show, yet on the same foot all attempts we make are futile because MMT just spits in our faces. :( Where did AMC's dignity go?

IA with the poster that says GL is just as bad.

Is GL going up in the ratings? They seem to consisently either drop or stay the same. At least AMC is going up at times, even if it does drop.

The Marvel crossover crap makes GL REALLY bad for me. I mean soap characters as Super Heros?

It's obvious Frons could care less about the shape of the show. If the ratings and quality would've haunted him, he would've done something months ago about this sinking ship. Frons just isn't invested in AMC and it shows.

Now would be a good time to beg Loraine Broderick and Felicia Mini-Behr to come back, but that won't happen.

Btw, did you guys know Frons originally asked Lorraine Broderick to come back to AMC after she was ousted on OLTL, but she refused and they hired McTavrish. Oh what could've been!

It's just sad to see what this show has become. AMC at its peak was definitely the best written and most entertaining show in all of ABCD.

I think AMC is salvageable if Frons is fired soon and the new regime hires back Julia Barr, Jill Larson, and Vincent Irizarry. DAYS & GL have both fired their over-40 actors and rehired them when the audience rebelled so it's not impossible for AMC to do it in the future.

In the meantime, I'm tuning out when Julia Barr leaves and not watching again until she's rehired. I would like to think whoever takes over for Frons and McTavish will realize how vital the character of Brooke is to AMC.

There is no realistic expectation left that Frons, MMT or DH will be fired any time in the near future. There is no realistic expectation that the purge of long time favorites and wonderful actors will end in the near future. AMC just announced JB's decision to end her relationship with AMC, OLTL fans are waiting for the announcement that HBS is out as well and rumors continue to indicate that CH and TDS who are now on recurring status haven't worked in months and will only return to complete Nora's exit. Frons has his plan which is evident on both soaps and there is no suggestion that any real changes will be made. Considering that OLTL tapes 6 weeks in advance and assuming that AMC is somewhat similarly paced, if they wait to make any chances until they have seen the results of sweeps then no changes realistically appear on screen until after Feb. For long time viewers who have had it now how much longer will they wait? How much of the damage can be undone? Will VI or JB or others not have moved on to new projects? Is there the budget to lure them back given the declining revenue generated in this downward spiral? Will long time viewers come back at this point or will they have broken the habit and found other things to do or checked out other shows? DOOL and Y&R are getting exposure that they haven't had in the past on Soapnet. ABC may have waited too long to take action.

Both AMC and OLTL could be brought back, but it would take attention and investment, two things that are not coming. It's not just who they are letting go to bring on the newbies...it is the stories themselves and even the writing to tell those stories. Higley has no concept of what a timeline is, routinely ignoring where a character was even five minutes earlier. Continuity is sacrificed for plot points. The storyline choice is meant to titallate: the boxing story was a mere excuse for DF to go shirtless. Now we get Adrianna the underwear designer, and one can guess who her models are going to be. I haven't been watching AMC (no surprise) but even from a distance, the patterns show.
