AMC: Seriously!! WHEN is something going to be done to fix this soap!

Well I know I'll be shot for my opinion here, but this is also what happens when they kow-tow to ONE fanbase and then it falls flat. I think that all of TIIC should be replaced as well not just the HW. I used to watch the show for all the characters good and bad and now I just can't stomach what is on the show.

When? Never.

Or maybe they'll pull a Chris Goutman/AW type scenario and bring someone in too late to fix it so they can claim they wanted it to survive.

If I was Brian Frons I'd call Felicia Behr, apologize for ousting her from ABC and BEG her to come back and fix AMC as Executive Producer and save my ass. As long as she stayed within budget she could do whatever the hell she wanted with the show.

But he would never do that.

He does not want the show to survive. Accept it people. Look at it this way: Angela Shapiro and Pat Fili-Krushel and those before them came to ABC to oversee the soaps. Brian Frons came to ABC to run the 1-3 timeslot. There's a difference. He wants to make a big name for himself and do something different with the time. He just happens to have a fondness for GH so his plans likely include only that one soap, unless he can get his hands on Days at some point.

What doesn't make sense to me if Frons wants to kill AMC, then it's going to kill OLTL as well, and no way in hell will ABC Daytime survive with one soap. Which means that Frons, even though he oversees other things, is that much closer to being out of a job.

AMC is bad, but I believe it can be salvaged, it just needs to be done ASAP!

Exactly! I was discussing this with my friends on another board saying pretty much the same thing. Frons is trying to make a name for himself by making such piss poor attempts at revolutionizing the genre. He's trying to be in the league of Irna Phillips, Doug Marland, Agnes Nixon, Bill Bell and Gloria Monty. In his mind, the best way to do that is by making everything youth oriented... which is understandable, to an extent. You don't bring in new characters and hope they last by casting actors 65 and over and ready to retire. That's why I bristle sometimes when people want TIIC to give Palmer and Myrtle storylines -- as if these actors in their 80s WANT to work that much.

But at the same time, writing off people over 40 as uninteresting and boring and "nobody wants to see that" is a slap in the face to the people who are bankrolling these precious teenagers whose money Brian so desperately wants for his advertisers.

I wish I could agree, but I don't. It's gotten to the point where it's beyond repair, especially with the impending exits of Vincent Irizarry and Julia Barr. There is just nobody left to invest in, and the few that we may be invested in, are either written like fools, completely different characters, or not written for at all. That's a trend that hasn't changed in almost 2 years now, and it doesn't look to be changing now.

There needs to be a complete overhaul and certain people need to be begged to return. I don't see that happening at all- if anything, they'll just hire new puppets for Frons, Julia Barr will still be gone, and the new team will work with what they have.

RIP AMC.

I think AMC has a very talented cast and I feel bad for them because the morale has got to be low :(

I agree with AMC Zendall Fan....I think AMC can be salvaged. Hopefully we will hear about regime changes later this month/next month.

I'm not ready to declare AMC dead

Has anyone heard about how the cast members are feeling these days?

I think AMC can be saved only if Frons or TPTB are willing to take the show in a completely different direction. What is being written now isn't working at all, IMHO. But I am not so sure if AMC will ever completely recover in the ratings. They have alienated so many viewers. Look at how Days is struggling right now with a better writer in place. It is going to be a slow process but ABC has to be willing to do it and they have to start like, yesterday. I am not so sure Frons can let go of his ego/pride enough to make the necessary changes.

I think that they should go ahead and give Burton a shot. I don't think he could be any worse than what we are seeing on our screens right now. He knows the history of AMC and he respects it from what I heard. And that is the only kind of writer that will save AMC, IMHO. I just think that Frons wants to hire a clone like McT. And that isn't going to help much at all.

I have read on another board that the morale of the cast is really low right now. Not surprising considering the firing/leaving going on.

Sorry I guess we just disagree ;) I believe any show can be salvaged, it just needs to be done right away. Personally I think Guiding Light is in much worse shape with the Marvel crap, but I believe it can be salvaged.

I wonder of those old AMC/OLTL merge rumours will start popping up again?

At this point, when MMT is gone, what will be left of AMC? Just shells of it's former self, bits and pieces of what it used to be. As long as Josh is in PV, there will always be something gone, that AMC can and will never get back. I don't want to lose AMC, never have. But I can't bare the thought of it lately. It hurts to much. I hope someone does at least get the chance to try and save AMC, but at this point, I'm still think it's to little to late. :(

today was my last day of watching AMC. I start a new job on Monday and I dont think this show is worth the effort of taping. I have a choice of either watching the first half of Y&R and all of AMC or watching all of Y&R and the last half of AMC. I chose all of Y&R and none of AMC

Kylie this is the same way I saw DOOL a few years ago. It was unrecognizable to me when they got rid all those long term characters/actors. People even said they'd boycott and things like that.

That's why I believe AMC is salvagable

I want to believe there's still hope, and part of me does, but then I think of the utter lack of respect and even disdain shown for the show's history, the fans, the vets, and I feel like we're all staying on this sinking ship out of imnense loyalty to it. We know that it's going down, we know that if we stay on it's going to be a slow, painful decent, but we can't get off...because there's still that hope that someone will find us, and rescue us. AMC is forever dead to me, though. The day Josh was revealed to be the fetus, is the day AMC died. :( I can never come back, because looking at him makes me sick. Makes me think of what AMC once was, and no longer is. He is, IMO, the symbol of the end of AMC.

I'm giving up Erica, not giving up on her thouhg, never. I don't think anyone knows what that truly means to me. But I walk away from AMC, and the boards etc, the day David does. And that means leaving Erica at MMT's mercy. I'd rather not know she's being Martinized. I'd rather not know that she's playing devoted mother to another violation, I'd rather not know that when she gets in trouble again (ie. drugging Maddman) that David isn't there to protect her. I'd rather remember my Erica Kane, then have anything to do with this Pod that MMT has made her. I'm fighting for her by refusing to acknowledge that this current incaration of her exsists. That is not my Diva, and I want no part of it or her.

That should tell you everything about how I feel about this show. I just want off...or want a miracle. Either way, I want my show to stops breaking my heart.

*hugs* I feel for you Kylie, and you giving up Erica breaks my heart, I know how much you love her :(
