AMC: Seriously!! WHEN is something going to be done to fix this soap!

I don't normally comment that much about ALL MY CHILDREN, mostly because I have completely stopped watching...but with the announcement this week that veteran Julia Barr is leaving and with this latest news that AMC has hit new all-time lows in the ratings...it just really sent it home to me that AMC is in REALLY REALLY big trouble!!

Seriously I am absolutely STUNNED that ABC has not even commented or done ANYTHING at all to indicate that changes are going to be made. I fear that if they wait even longer...more damage will be done. I mean there are rumours MORE veterans will be leaving....I fear that these changes will come too little to late and we will be left with all these newbies and NO veterans (well ones we actually give a [!@#$%^&*] about).

What happened to all that speculation that that Burton Armus or whatever guy was going to replace McTrash? Is that still rumoured to be happening or is that now just a bunch of lies that some fanboy made up?

Seriously is there ANY NEWS AT ALL that AMC is going to be saved from this? I just HATE to see this soap where it is....I am just stunned that it has fallen so hard, so fast.

Anyone with any news, updates at ALL about a potential overhaul???

The last thing I want to see is for AMC to go the way of our beloved ANOTHER WORLD!!

:(

At this point, I think should anything happen, it's going to be to little to late. IMO, AMC was given it's last rights the day that Megan was allowed to over turn the first legal abortion in television history, and bring the fetus back as Erica Kane's son. Once you jump the shark like that, there's no going back, no matter what changes you make. AMC is dying slowly and painfully, and no one seems to give a damn. :( I don't know why, but it kills me. I want a miracle or someone to please just put AMC out of it's misery and kill it. I can't take what's become of my show.

I have a feeling that no changes will be made – which is really scary. See, on the one hand I want ratings really low. AMC deserves the low ratings and I was thinking the toilet numbers would be a wakeup call. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. How much lower do the numbers have to go before we get an announcement or something? Do they really want the show cancelled?

I know for a fact that Burton Armus was coming to the show (I knew it before Errol and SON reported it), but if he doesn't--it won't be the first time that negotiations for someone to join a soap fell through.

It's rumored that Brian Frons doesn't like Armus's forcefulness (Armus hates McTavish's entire history on the show supposedly and wants to change everything around), and Frons is used to hiring writers that he can boss around, but who in the hell really knows? Armus may still be coming.

Just as Errol reported, I also know that [s.W.S.N.B.N.] was signed to work on Armus's team, but then ABC got cold feet after some affiliates and sponsors complained about her "past" history. I mean, tonight on VH-1 they were talking about Bin Laden's mistress during a Whitney Houston segment, so anybody who hires her is going to attract too much negative publicity. She's doing more "ghost writing" for CBS with her name off the credits just like she did at "Days".

I totally feel you Mitch on this post. I hate what's happening to AMC too. But it's not fair to call people liars just because something that was slated to take place didn't happen.

This is why I tell everyone that when you get scoops from people inside the industry, it's really nothing more than "Speculation", because the scoops we get are the developmental stages that happens long before the magazines get wind of it. A lot of things I reported have happened, and a lot of stuff I've reported didn't pan out.

My guess is that Armus wanted to step in and save his favorite soap, but Frons feared that he might actually save it.

It's time they made Belder the head writer. He's really great I hear.

Funny how many of us used to express that sentiment merely as angry rhetoric not so long ago. That I'm seeing it more often lately tells me it's not just viewer frustration talking anymore.

I totally hear you. :( AMC has really fallen from the great soap it once was. Mctavish has ruined it and needs to be ousted, along with Frons. They have ruined it and the rest of ABC daytime, and if something is not done AMC will take the road Another World did.

I have heard the Armus rumours....but there are also rumours of him going to OLTL, so no one really knows.

I really think Megan will be ousted at some point..... but I just do not know when.

If Armus wanted to change most things that have happened in the last few years, maybe Frons and his ego got in the way. I am sure some of the crap we are seeing is because of Frons trying to write and dictate the show. Sounds like Burton had his own ideas and Frons didn't like that. Maybe he wants to hang on to Mctavish because she is such a "yes anything you say goes" person. Boy, what decent writer wants to work under those conditions. And Armus probably really could have turned around AMC. I don't think anything is really working on the show right now. It needs a major overhaul.

I am not even sure that TIIC are that concerned about AMC. They are probably going to wait until sweeps is over to make a decision. Errol has said that the affiliates are unhappy with AMC so maybe that will push ABC into making drastic changes earlier than what they want to.

I truly believe this! Replacing Malone with DENA FRICKING HIGLEY is insanity and there seems to be a very narrow group of writers they are willing to work with at AMC. Someone higher than Frons needs to fire HIM. He's the main problem.

Does Frons not have a job? How can he explain what he and MMT have done? It's all the way next to Passions now in ratings.

It's really scary. I feel awful for AMC fans. I don't think Frons wants AMC to fail. That's stupid. He is trying to make into a whole new show and attract younger audiences for cheaper, and it's failing miserably. PSNS and AMC will be competing for 2nd to last place, at this rate.

I think we all have a better chance of monkeys flying out of our butts than having changes made.

We are so f*cked!

I feel like I just keep getting gang banged over and over and Frons and McTavish keep asking if I would like it harder. <_<

The problem is that it is not just one soap in trouble. AMC is possibly failing the fastest. GH may be saved from an overhaul by the return of Laura, but the telling thing will be what the results are in December. Are the returning Luke/Laura fans going to remain for the Sonny/Carly/Jason/Sam show?

Disney has long used the technique of selective good quality coupled with strings of less than average schlock even among its kids movies, let alone the Disney channel. For each 'Beauty and the Beast', there are half a dozen Herbie Fully Loaded and Chicken Littles. It seems GH is the 'chosen one' who gets what little quality they are willing to produce while AMC and OLTL are cheaply produced filler.

Right now, both AMC and OLTL need investment to be fixed, but we keep hearing Disney's corrective actions are budget cuts. By the time they get around to the writers or production, there will probably be little budget to even start talking to talented writers.

How many writers can they talk to at once, and for how many shows? How many good writers are willing to work for them at all? The best writer can't hide poor production, and both AMC/OLTL show those problems all too openly --( and arguably GH.)

What happened to all that speculation that that Burton Armus or whatever guy was going to replace McTrash? Is that still rumoured to be happening or is that now just a bunch of lies that some fanboy made up?

I vote for the latter. The main force behind that rumor seems to have disappeared.

But I'm not going to go there.

Frons is a huge problem. I just don't like him... as a person. His personal philosophies are clearly dictating his professional decisions. He gets an erection over blonde slutty female characters, hence Lily, who should be naturally a brunette since her biological parents -- the late Laurel Banning and late Denny Benton -- were dark haired. But nope. She becomes this blonde Autistic temptress that has 30 year old pedophiles chasing after her left and right. Krystal and Babe, both came on the show as blonde sluts and have been pushed to the forefront of the show. Colby and Sydney come on, and both are blonde and obnoxious in bikinis all summer. Here he is, bald, gray all in his grandpa-like beard, calling people over 40 old?! He's going through a mid-life crisis, and WE ALL have to be subjected to it.

Also, McTavish is a huge problem as well, because she is so in tune with Frons's vision. She likes blonde slutty characters. She likes stories of women continuously being sexual prey and brutally violated. She likes dumbing down and victimizing women and making men all-knowing and heroic.

Add that to the fact that there's a bunch of actors on this show who can NOT act their way out of paper bags getting SOOOO much airtime, it makes the holes in the writing so glaringly hard to miss!

You know, as much as I hate what Megan's done the past year, I don't think I'll be satisfied if she's the only one ousted- the entire show needs an overhaul and while I used to like her as a producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers has to go too. Sorry, but she's allowing these dreadful decisions to be made. As much as I was not a fan of Jean Dedario Burke, she wouldn't have allowed Julia Barr, Vincent Irizarry, Jill Larson, or Marcy Walker to go without a fight. I also do not think she would have approved the unabortion storyline. It's high time that Ms. Carruthers have to stand up & be counted among those that have ruined AMC.

The one that needs to go more than anyone is Brian Frons. What he's done and is doing to these shows is atrocious!! AMC & OLTL both are a mess, and it's such a shame because I've watched those shows when they're good and when they are, they fire on all cylinders. OLTL it seems is always at either extreme- really good or unwatchable. AMC, on the other hand, is so good that, in order for it to be bad, it has to be just horrible. And that's what it is right now. While OLTL has been unwatchable for me before, AMC, since I started in '94, has never been so bad it's unwatchable....... until now.

I'd hate to be a fly on the wall at the AMC studios right now because the mood has to be so darn gloomy over there. Cady McClain probably never knew what she was walking back into. Perhaps she should have called Sydney Penny & Eva LaRue before returning, and asked them how things were going. I think she would have been clued in.

The sad state of affairs is that the last time I was really liking AMC, it was during Edmund's death, when Julia Barr and Eva LaRue were being heavily featured. Those two ladies were dynamite......and then the story just faded to the background, until LaRue ultimately left. Since then, AMC has been an absolute mess that's just plain depressing to watch. At this point, I'm not sure that it can be saved at all, but keeping JHC, McT, and Frons in power will most certainly keep it on the fastrack to cancellation.

I watched AMC for a year when I was in high school, and it truly was one great program. But, just by reading everyone's posts over the past year or so, it pains me to see it go down the tubes like this. And, I do agree wholeheartedly that Brian Frons is the biggest problem at ABCD. With his many nasty comments and the fact that all of the ABC soaps are doing poorly is an indication of just how bad he is as a network daytime president.

I'm sorry, but it does seem to me that he just is so damn arrogant, he can't admit that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. To lose AMC hurts all soaps. Or GH, or OLTL. Everyone saw what happened over at NBC, when both those shows were doing poorly. They made changes, even though it took them forever and a day. But, it seems like the people at Disney have gotten their heads stuck so far up their backsides that they either don't care what's happening or they do and won't make any changes. I don't know which option is worse.

Frons has to go in order for ABCD to improve, and he has to go after NS. If they keep him, I see dark days ahead for AMC. :(
