  1. Melba Moore did indeed have a short-lived sitcom on CBS in 1986, which was doomed right from word go. Melba debuted on January 28, 1986 - the same day as the Challenger disaster. CBS then immediately yanked the sitcom from its primetime lineup and burned off the five remaining episodes that summer. Yeouch. At least she had an illustrious stage and recording career to fall back on.
  2. What a bizarre story, but from what I've heard and read, bizarre stories on LOL at this time (toward its end) were becoming the norm. Thanks to both of you for the info!!
  3. I know Leah Ayres was on this show before she was on EON, but what was her arc on LOL?
  4. What did you all think about the show's last major story starring Nancy Stafford in the unique dual role as mother and daughter? Quite a far cry from her character on Matlock later on. LOL
  5. I have to say I liked Michael Gregory's take on Rick Webber a lot better than Chris Robinson's (from what little is available online), but I'm not sure how popular an opinion that is.
  6. OK, thanks. From what I've heard, pretty much all of 1996 and most of 1997 was a big disaster for ATWT. It seems things didn't get better until the introduction of Jack, the returns of Carly and Andy, etc. What are your thoughts?
  7. I can't even imagine Susan Haskell as Lily. Tell the truth, I can't see her as anyone but Marty!! Didn't JFP take over EP from Maxine Levinson? Both Linda Gottleib and Susan Bedsow Horgan would have been long gone by then.
  8. Except to the writers, producers, network, etc...
  9. Didn't Maura West take off right after this to give birth to her first child?
  10. Interesting! Thanks for posting the clips.
  11. OK - thank you both for the heads up!!!
  12. Hey Carl, would you please post the OLTL Trivia Quiz as played by Bob Woods, Robin Strasser and Kevin Stapleton that appeared in the 7/29/97 issue of SOD? I LOVED whenever SOD would do quizzes with the actors!!! Thanks!!!
  13. How recent is this photo? Both Lindas look stunning!!
  14. I don't even remember an Evan Walsh. Who were his parents? Not Lily and Sierra, I'm pretty sure about that.
  15. In the OLTL 40th Anniversary trivia book by Gerry Waggett, there is a chapter about accidents on the set. One of them was when Max and Blair were being paired again, and James and Kassie DePaiva were told to play the sex scene as rough rather than tender. When they did, the DePaivas ended up toppling over a sofa and he got a bloody lip. Ouch!!
  16. The only character I remember her for on OLTL is the parrot!! That is usually not good, LOL.
  17. Does anyone know whatever happened to Frank Beaty?
  18. It's so funny, because a lot of Patrick's story sounds like it could have been written by Claire Labine, especially his first few months. It's so funny with her RH success, she never seemed to have the same effect on the character that people like Michael Malone and Susan Bedsow Horgan did.
  19. One of the lines of Patrick's monologue as he tried to talk Marty out of marrying Dylan, at the church, in her wedding gown, that proved prophetic: "I will build our home out of the stones on our land, made from the very earth it stands on. In the firelight, I see you holding our first child. She looks like you. She looks just like you." Of course, I'm referring to their portrayers in this case, who would go on to have two daughters of their own. I also love how Patrick was the only one on the show not to call Marty by her nickname, but by her given name, Margaret. That is, when he didn't call her "Angel". Yes, I am a mushball!! I give credit to both SH and TK (and also, KDP) for rising above the awful storylines they were given - Marty and Dylan's going through with their wedding, Patrick and Blair's affair (does anyone think he would have given her a second glance under any circumstance, even if he wasn't on the rebound?), and Kelly causing them to crash and lose their baby? It was especially jarring as KDP was pregnant with her first child (and JDP's second) and it was not an easy pregnancy, from what I've read. Other than her brief appearances on PC as the ghost of Granya, did SH do any other soaps?
  20. Thank you, Vee!! Yes, according to a Brandon's Buzz podcast from 2011, Susan Bedsow Horgan was the guest and she did say AMC was indeed the other show in competition for TK. She and Michael Malone saw his tape and knew immediately that they wanted him, and she did mention that because Roger Howarth was leaving (for the first time) that they would need a strong male presence on OLTL. What was the fan reaction like when Howarth left, even though it was his choice? How long was it before he came back - it was only a few months, right? Did you ever see this clip, Vee? Classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBUWrQ3qm5I
  21. I don't think so, either. He seemed to be the type who could dish it out but not take it.
  22. She did have a boyfriend named Tom who was a doctor in Florida (he was her date at the Emmys and she thanked him in her acceptance speech). It's funny how some RL couples can be on the same show and their chemistry doesn't always transfer on-screen, like the DePaivas. Then again, Max and Blair were never meant to be endgame, not as far as I know.
  23. Thank you, Vee!! I take it that RH was a staple in your house back in the day. Since you had already been watching before TK came aboard, what did you think of Marty with Dylan? That is, before Patrick came into the picture. Susan Haskell deserved both those Emmys and every other accolade she got for playing Marty. What a dynamo. I have to admit to melting every time Patrick would call her by her real name, Margaret, the only person who did. What can I say? I am also a 30-something woman with long wild hair. It always comes back to the hair!!
  24. Was George Reinholt still playing Tony then, or had the role been recast by that point? I've been watching some of the Marty/Patrick romance on YT (I was in high school when it came on, but never really watched it. I DID read the tie-in book, Patrick's Notebook, where I noticed that most, if not all, of the dialogue was intact verbatim). I don't know how popular it was at the time, or how the triangle with Dylan Moody was received, but I think that the performances and chemistry of Susan Haskell and Thorsten Kaye transcended the written dialogue. I wonder if it was love at first sight for them, because knowing now that the romance spilled over off-screen, the looks of longing on their faces and moments in scenes where they didn't break eye contact...was like, wow. They left OLTL together in 1997, I know, but had their real-life relationship been made public when they were still on the show?
  25. Cool!! I love it when footage of screen tests pops up.
