  1. Oh that is interesting, although I do think because the show had a good number of female supporting characters and leads at that time, the canvas could very well have gotten by on having Frannie turn up for storyline arcs, here and there.
  2. This storyline obviously had limitations but today's daytime soaps don't even acknowledge that Native Americans exist, let alone create a third dimensional Native American character. Whomever said soaps are going backward, not forward, ICAM. With the coming and going of Penny and Don Hughes, I do think that Marland intended for more than just the Snyders to be able to come and go and maintain a presence. Of course, cameos are different from storyline arcs. I do think that had Marland lived, a character like Frannie definitely would've been like Penny Hughes, popping up here and there. It seemed as though the show wanted that for Henderson Forsythe's character David Stewart until for whatever reason, that model became unsustainable. I wonder if Forsythe requested an end to the character to focus on the stage or if someone decided that it no longer worked. Several other Snyders could've used a good "talking to" from Kim,lol. I always appreciated how Kim didn't have to scream or shout to give someone a good dressing down. Although I thought middle aged Meg was borderline useless, teenage Meg was a great foil for Lily and made that small teen circle very interesting.
  3. Michael David Morrison was a great find, imo. To be fair, it probably threw everybody for a loop losing him. Some actors are more difficult to replace than others.
  4. If memory serves me correctly, it the wealthy in Westport, CT that brought coronavirus to the state of Connecticut in the first place. And I guess, it's the wealthy that intend to keep coronavirus in the state of Connecticut.
  5. Anyone who wants to read the words of Congressman John Lewis in his Op-Ed piece, you can read them here without paywall. https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/commentary/2020/07/30/john-lewis-together-you/
  6. Sadly, there will also be a lot more suffering to witness. ICYMI-- 5 years worth of growth has been wiped away, courtesy of Trump. The fastest, deepest economic contracting since, well, ever. A Collapse That Wiped Out 5 Years of Growth, With No Bounce in Sight
  7. Meredith Post, Courtney Simon (although I Simon might have appeared for GL, I think) and Juliet Law Packer, for starters. At least they were part of writing rooms that churned out some good storylines. And Simon was an occasional cast member as well. I'd be interested in hearing about that dichotomy between being an actor and writer on a fast moving series. EDT. I also forgot to mention Susan Bedsow Horgan.
  8. Also, where I live you have drop boxes at the polling places as well as town hall/city hall.
  9. My state has a online portal where you can track your mail-in ballot.
  10. Everything daytime drama-related on YouTube has gotten so stale. Like I said before, "bandstandmike" and "it's a long story" were the only channels that were posting episodes that hadn't been posted elsewhere, that I hadn't seen in a long time, if ever. The rest offer nothing that I haven't already seen. The Locher Room needs to come through with something better than that. Maybe Alan is simply not up to task but I'd love to see some podcast try to get Ming-Na Wen and Lea Salonga to do a livestream about their time portraying Lien Hughes. That at least, would be something fresh! There are so many connections between the two actresses, they have also been Mulan for Disney and a live action version of Mulan was due to come out this year (but has been delayed due to coronavirus).
  11. A yet to be named player has tested positive for COVID-19 at the tournament in Palermo.
  12. On a day like today with a somber spirit hanging in the air, it would've been such a relief to have been able to watch a rare classic episode--one that isn't posted on YouTube and perhaps hadn't been seen in years to be able to immerse myself in-- which was what channels like 'it's a long story' and 'bandstandmike' were doing and one has been severely diminished, while the other has completely vanished...just when I could have used them the most. All because people had to hate on a couple of innocuous YouTube channels posting episodes from 25-30+ years ago. SMH.
  13. Coronavirus doesn't care about a person's political placement in the hierarchy. Nor does the virus care about who one is connected to politically. Why can't people figure this one out?
  14. Condolences to his loved ones. Otherwise, no comment.🤐
  15. Well, I'm already paranoid about my mail delivery so I the turnaround time on my responses tend to be asap, i.e. the day after I receive something, it usually goes back in the mail with a reply the next morning. Two days later, if it requires more time to fill out.
  16. That had me literally genuinely laughing! That's great that they can have a sense of humor about it but was such a bad idea to even try and test the waters. SMH.
  17. Maybe I mentioned this before (ironically, I had been watching Guiding Light episodes from 1994) but ATWT in 1994 truly looked like a show/set in mourning. The hair and makeup looks so severe and with a few exceptions, the wardrobe choices look so drab and dour-- it's not just the color palette but even the fit of most of the clothes (a lot of shapeless, formless, boxy garments). The garish lighting and set pieces (the new Fashions looks awful) is another matter.
  18. Oh understood. I think your post spurred me to address the original remark, as I felt as if I hadn't really done so properly. @ChitHappensAnd you know it's really such a shame when you think of how soaps used to write groundbreaking stories. They didn't always accomplish what they set out to do but at least they used to try. It's like they stopped trying about fifteen, sixteen years ago. I still can't understand why soaps have more more groundbreaking storylines done in the 80s and 90s than they do now. These shows haven't evolved at all.
  19. For years, I had been gradually divesting myself from soaps but with Y&R, I really got disgusted when they killed off Hilary and dismissing Ana sealed it for me. Other than classic episodes, I would never bother with this show again unless they made some fundamental changes. It seems as though Y&R would rather run themselves into cancellation rather than have a POC character have the same dramatic agency as a white character. Well, they can do it without me watching.
  20. Trump's inept Treasury Dept., which was left in charge of the stimulus payments has, once again, botched things...shocker!🥴
  21. Just like anything done by this wretched W.H. administration, the disbursement of the stimulus funds is and continues to be, an unmitigated disaster.
  22. 1994 wasn't a great year but I still wanted to at least watch until early '95. Damn that YouTube strike team!
  23. This thread gave me a bit of a chuckle.
