  1. Completely off topic from what everyone is discussing but, I finally figured out why Tangie didn't really fit on the canvas. Marcy Walker, I think, tried her best with what she was given and it wasn't completely the writing. The role would have been better if cast by an actress who had not been so huge on another soap- either a relative newcomer, ideally an actress who previously had played a minor character(s) on a soap(s). Walker had been something of a phenom on SB, part of the show's supercouple, probably a challenge to integrate into something of a lesser role on a more ensemble-oriented, especially when the character came on as a bit of an appendage to a popular character (Josh). Perhaps if the character had entered the canvas on her own, in some way, things might have gone differently. Another idea, and this might seem controversial-- I do think Barbara Crampton and Vincent Irizarry had some chemistry...she just wasn't Mindy. She also had good chemistry with most of the Lewises (except for the weird/awkward energy her Mindy had with "Uncle Josh", who Crampton never referred to as Uncle Josh, the way Tesreau had in the past). Crampton wasn't the worst Mindy but I was always keenly aware that her portrayal was far away from that of Tesreau and Simms.
  2. In a sea of dishonesty, at least some politicians tell the truth, even when they'd have reason not to. And Gillum bares his soul here. If only other public figures that we've seen break down would submit to therapy.
  3. There also seems to be the attitude of "I did it first", therefore anyone coming in recently has to be using whoever did it first, kind of mindset. I don't think people like that believe it's possible that someone could wait years before posting videos but we've seen that it is possible for someone to uncover old VHS tapes that they didn't realize they'd had in their possession for decades, or even not have the time or technology until recently to convert old videos. It's just kind of silly to me to make assumptions about the motives of someone who posts their videos on a public platform, especially over some decades old videos that nobody is truly profiting from (unless I'm missing something).
  4. Interesting that many of Europe's former colonies seem to be dealing with this pandemic more effectively than Europe.
  5. As a resident of the New York metro area, I can say that the shootings at the home of Judge Salas has been big news since it happened. It will be interesting to see whether this is the case nationally where the news cycle tends to be much more frenetic. A very tragic situation and quite scary to think of. Isn't Deutche Bank also one of the two banks that recently were ordered to turn over Trump's financial records to the SDNY?
  6. @amybrickwallace Take your time, focus on your health and wellness. I wish you the best possible outcome.
  7. That's quite sad that the call for a well written, relevant story would be seen as a demand. I still maintain that writing shabbily for a character might as well be seen as giving her a shove out the door.
  8. I have heard a number of Black people say that they don't trust any vaccine coming from the Trump administration (one of many reasons, I've been hoping that another country, other than the U.S. will be the prominent country to distribute the vaccine first) but I had wondered how other communities view a vaccine being distributed in the U.S. I don't know whether this is true though.
  9. Why did this bring a tear to my eye?
  10. Looking back on these episodes from 1994, Nadine was definitely a more valuable character than Buzz, or even Jenna for that matter (although I loved Jenna's budding relationship with Vanessa in the recent episode I watched) but both women were more interesting to me than Buzz was--not sure of the reasoning that got rid of them, while allowing him to stay.
  11. There are photos of President Obama bestowing both men with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and I am so glad that both men got to experience being honored, appreciated and valued for their dedication and sacrifice while they were still here to enjoy it. It also reminds me of how considerate of history and time Obama is/was awarding these medals to people like Lewis, Vivian and Katherine Johnson while they were still alive.
  12. If P&G doesn't care (which, after a decade sure seems to be the case), why should a YouTube uploader cling so hard and fast to material that he/she neither wrote, performed in or produced? Honestly, the only thing that would make me change my mind would be if P&G/PGN decided to start their own YT channel and post clear, digital quality (or even great analog quality) episodes on YT. Then, I would say, "why not have one definitive channel/portal for all ATWT episodes?" Such is not the case though.
  13. Congressman John Lewis. Someone posted something to the effect that some lives speak for themselves and are beyond words. That's how I feel about the life and legacy of Mr. Lewis. Still, it feels like a world of loss when the day is bookend by the loss of both C.T. Vivian and John Lewis, two giants of the civil rights era.
  14. Thanks @Forever8. Despite the shortcomings associated with the Roseanna character, I will always have a fondness for Yvonne Perry and really look forward to hearing from Tom Wiggins (kind of wish he could appear with Lisa Brown though). This seems like a decent group. It's probably based on the success of the previous soap streams, I'm guessing that Alan probably has to do less in convincing these actors to participate. I would love to see that!
  15. Haven't gotten a chance to read this yet but BuzzFeed did what looks to be an exposé on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
  16. The thing is, I prefer a complete episode in one whole video uploaded and presented rather than segmented videos strung together. If I have no other choice, I'll watch multiple clips strung together but it isn't my preferred way of watching an episode. That particular channel that was mentioned only seems to have episodes broken up into multiple segments, which is not the most enjoyable way to watch an episode, imo. Also, I know for sure there were quite a few episodes on @BillBauer's channel that I had seen nowhere else on YouTube (or Daily Motion either). The episode where everybody finds out that Lucinda and John eloped, I don't think I've seen that since it originally aired and I was so young that it might as well been an unseen episode (where Craig, Lily, Lucinda and John are all spontaneously gathered in Sierra's apartment and all awkwardly toast the newlyweds...as an aside, Craig says something like "To a marriage made in hell" out of earshot of Lucinda and John). You see the flabbergasted expressions on Kim, Bob, Lisa and Nancy's faces and how Andy is told about the elopement. Such a fun episode! I have never seen that episode on YouTube. The only episode that was on YouTube is when Emma comes to John's penthouse to reconcile with him and finds Lucinda there wearing John's robe as she introduces herself as Mrs. John Dixon. The following episode, which had not previously been posted anywhere was far more fun to watch! It's really a shame if people didn't get a chance to see that one because it was the far more interesting of the two episodes.
  17. Just saw a headline that Hollywood continues to purchase ad buys on Facebook despite many others boycotting the social media platform, which only confirms what I've been trying to say for years...Hollywood is not actually liberal. Most writers and many actors working in Hollywood do lean liberal, but the studio executives and heads of the companies like studios and talent agencies, etc. are actually conservatives. When you look at their decisions, their actions, how they actually operate beneath the surface of public statements from actors and writers, you will realize that. Why people continue to believe otherwise is beyond me.
  18. So interesting to read about the seismic shift that is happening within the publishing industry (an industry I once seriously considered), with women and men of color and two Black women, in particular, taking leadership roles at age old publishing houses. Very key in this push is that the publishing industry realized that there were so few Blacks in even entry level positions, let alone on the track to the executive level that they had to hire outside of the industry, which made me think of how, if daytime cared (which we know they don't), they'd definitely have to take a similar tactical approach since we all know the scant diversity within the daytime soap industry.
  19. At this point, even a vaccine that can minimize the worst of the effects of COVID-19 would be a big step in the right direction.
  20. When I was in grad school, I was in brief contact with PGP about the possibility of an internship (I was hoping for ATWT) and yeah, they were a total mess, even they knew this. It was of absolutely no surprise that in less than 10 years, both GL and ATWT would be off the air. But yeah, I've heard of the various competing fiefdoms within P&G.
  21. I echo that thanks. I enjoyed the channel immensely.
