Why can't we have nice things?? There were episodes that I'd never seen posted on YouTube before, so I don't know what that person is talking about. I had thought about downloading a few but sadly didn't get the opportunity since I was involved in a project that is taking up my drive space. Argh! Some people ruin everything with their sour grapes mentality.😒 Who is this sad sack of a human? This just makes me even more irritated with P&G, who should've been releasing their back catalog on a streaming platform somewhere. Peacock just started their official launch today and they have a mix of free and premium videos but P&G a 130 year old company that sells products worldwide is somehow incapable of doing this. Sigh.

Anywho, to news that really matters. This is typical of the Trump administration's 'helter-skelter' frenetic style (if you can call it that) of governing. Full of bombast on an issue, causes panic and uproar before trying to quietly backtrack once the affected entities decide to fight back. Trump and his cohort are bullies who, in reality, fear a challenge. When is someone going to tell him how ridiculous he looks?- The Politics Thread
Well Chance the Rapper was chastened by Black Twitter. You neglected to post this.- Racism and racial representation on soaps
No, I certainly didn't take it to mean that you were being glib. I was just really putting a fine point on that statement. Probably because just last week I was wondering how many Black writers there have been in the history of daytime soaps. I knew the number had to be shamefully low.- Racism and racial representation on soaps
A handful? Since the 1950s?! That's disgraceful.- Racism and racial representation on soaps
The strain of having to carry Ronn Moss' no talent @ss is probably what pushed Susan Flannery into retirement. Antonio Sabato Jr. and Moss should be thankful that they had whatever time they managed to have onscreen because neither one can act worth a damn. And as my older sister once told me when I was a little girl (about Moss), his right jaw is crooked, it doesn't look right.- Racism and racial representation on soaps
The industry--it's all so abysmal isn't it, @mikelyons? I'm sorry you had to endure that soul-crushing experience. I felt exhaustion just reading it. When you're fresh-faced and have all the exuberance and optimism in the world, you'd be surprised at how hard you will try to climb over an entire obstacle course. When people talk about their desire to return to the way life used to be, I feel as if I want to say "why?" There are so many things that were wrong that have been exposed, why not make changes that would make for a more fair, just, equitable society in every facet of life? For anyone who may think that it would take a complete upending of existing systems, well, guess what? Systems have already been upended, why not work from that to secure a better society? Even as I write that, I realize I'm fairly pessimistic about the prospect of that truly coming to pass. In recent years there has been a movement to stop the unethical practice of companies benefiting from the work of unpaid interns. It's basically wage theft, not to mention the fact that, many of those internships do not seem to lead to anything. I've done a couple of those myself and one very low-paid internship for a Tony award-winning Broadway producer. Someday I may write about my personal experience with the micro (and not so micro) aggressions as well as the -isms that I faced as a black woman in different aspects of the arts and entertainment industry. It's exhausting and too anger-inducing to even think about right now. But yeah, the entire creative industry is long overdue for a serious reckoning. As negative as it sounds, I'm of the opinion that there is little chance of the soaps ever changing the way they do things creatively. This is an industry that seems intent to go down with the ship. I have this image of Eric Braeden's character, John Jacob Astor in Titanic being the visual representation of how the daytime soap industry intends to go.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
There were also some rare vintage episodes from soaps during the 60s posted on that channel very recently. I think there was at least one Secret Storm episode among others shows.- Racism and racial representation on soaps
Loren Lott is so charming and gorgeous that I have to believe that in a few years, she will have the kind of career that Tika Sumpter and/or Renée Elise Goldsberry currently have. This was one of the reasons, I admit, I'd hoped that Morgan wouldn't return to daytime soaps. I knew that it was more likely she'd be wasted just to prove some odd point. It should be clear to most folks who open their eyes long enough, that Y&R does not want a black actor/actress leading the show in storyline. The way TPTB ensure that this does not happen is to undercut their Black talent. This is the only explanation for why on earth they'd bring back the actress but not the character that she made so distinctive and interesting and replace Hillary with the dullard Amanda character. Another case and point: Y&R had Darnell Williams and Debbie Morgan, two iconic Black soap actors--did absolutely nothing with them. TPTB known damn well that they could have had a blockbuster storyline if they had brought back VR as an amnesiac and "Sarge's" common law wife. That story writes itself! Yet, they didn't want to, in order to prove some odd point. (There is also the possibility that maybe their writers are just hacks).- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

Ack, the 'it's a long story' YT channel is devoid of videos! I hope this is only temporary because that channel had videos that were never posted before and I was truly enjoying it. I also came across this episode from 1984 on another channel. Has this been posted before?- Glee: Discusion Thread
Lea Michele has been criticized for things said and done in the past with justification but this should not be one of those times. I just read that seven years ago, to the day, Cory Monteith died. People should not presume to know what is going on with another person. People should not feel obligated to get on social media and pour their hearts out. Also, who is to say that had she done so, her detractors wouldn't accuse her of being phony? There is no pleasing some people, so why try? Also, isn't Michele pregnant? That could also factor in her decision to disconnect from SM. In any case, I don't think she owes people on Twitter, or FB or Instagram any lengthy explanations. The entire situation is tragic and the focus of feeling should be on Naya Rivera's son and family and sympathy for them.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

I'm not sure CBS can be trusted. The racism is ingrained for so long, to break that system is going to take time and consistent effort and I'm talking years, not months.- The Black Lives Matter Thread

Eileen Fulton and Helen Wagner are two others, I think, that have been on those Television Academy recorded interviews. One fun thing about those Oscars and Emmys archives, is that you get to learn about not only actors, writers and producers, you also get to hear from composers (how many times have we discussed soap theme songs on this board?), costume designers and set designers. All those people have been integral to the sound and look of the most iconic soaps and their perspective is also important, I think. It really is a wasted opportunity. Another separate issue, is that, I wish these livestreams would step it the heck up, in terms of audio-visual quality. Anyone who has done at least a handful of these shouid be looking to improve the production quality. This is not like public access where you need a big bag of money to have a professional look/sound. Online the tools and technology are very accessible and affordable, if only one would take the time to learn to use them. Some soap-themed livestreams have been unwatchable because of the poor quality. I think some of the hosts assume that because we soap fans will watch YT videos where the audio and video of classic episodes are poor that we'll also sit through a terrible livestream.- The Tennis Thread

I don't think I've seen the full story since I was in elementary school (if that), so seeing the full conclusion was actually something of a treat for me. Like I said, the episodes on YouTube are all incomplete, only showing what happened up to Bob getting to the house and seeing lit candles all over the living room with Laura waiting for him. It was interesting to see how Beau got into the house (crashing through glass seemed to become a recurring theme for short term male characters in the late 80s/early 90s. As well as how Beau and Bob subdued Laura so that Bob could tranquilize her. I did find myself giggling at something that, I'm pretty sure wasn't meant to be funny though. Laura is raging at Kim, who has just entered the house and Kim, panicked not knowing if baby Christopher is alright mentions him and Laura quickly, completely changes her tone and calmly tells Kim that Pam took Christopher to her uncle's house and left her a note. Then just as quickly, Laura begins to yell and rage again.- The Politics Thread
Tbh, I was largely in disbelief that he'd pull off New Hampshire, so this doesn't surprise me. Also, I completely forgot about this rally. Maybe this was one of the myriad reasons that TrumpMeltdown was trending earlier?- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I know that most people aren't interested in this storyline, but that same YT channel has what looks to be the full reception of the Barbara and Hal wedding, as well as the conclusion of the Laura Simmons storyline. Other posted videos only show up to when Bob reaches the house and is confronted by Laura but doesn't show what happened the very next day.- The Tennis Thread
