  1. The typo on the sign is probably the least jarring thing about this. If anyone falls ill, hey, it's not their problem. Of course, I'd challenge the wisdom of having 450 people at any tournament right now, especially in a country where infection rates are surging, but that's just me, I guess.🤷🏾‍♀️
  2. Debbie Allen tweeted a throwback clip of her B'way performance of West Side Story which also included Stephanie E. Williams (Amy Lewis) as a featured dancer. Stephanie is the dancer in the checkered top.
  3. I also read that this morning, Alan Dershowitz was sending out Trumpesque defensive tweets like nobody's business.
  4. This was posted in the Non-Hollywood Sexual Harassment & Assault thread but ICYMI:
  5. Less than 24 hours after NY AG James issues that statement posted above, Ghislane Maxwell is arrest. Coincidence? I think not.
  6. Honestly, I can't answer that but on the East Coast, in states like New Jersey, the gyms are only to work one-on-one with a trainer and it's appointment only. I don't know what they're doing on the West Coast/CA.
  7. Oh I absolutely think these are reasonable measures to require pre-testing and immediate repatriation is there is a positive test, I think that many tourists might decide that they don't want to go through these protocols and stay away, which I think is fine too...I mean, who vacations during a pandemic anyway??! I've been saying this for years but as a person of island heritage, I think it is way overdue for these economies to diversify and lessen their reliance on tourism for the economy. I know that some islands have been doing this over the last several years but it's time to kick those efforts into overdrive.
  8. With the exception of Haiti, The Dominican Republic (which share an island) and Puerto Rico, most of the Caribbean have relatively low numbers. The only aspect that makes me hold my breath is that many islands are now opening up again to tourists but under strict guidelines that makes me wonder whether tourists will actually want to go through all those hoops, though I believe it is necessary. For instance, every island that is opening up to tourists will require pre-testing and will be tested again. If the test is positive, the tourist(s) will be sent back ASAP. In Cuba, in particular, there will be police guards on shuttles to make sure the tourists are immediately shuttled to their hotels which will be located on 5 "islands" (sandy, low-lying islets off the coast of Cuba) where they will stay at all inclusive resorts, away from the Cuban public which tourist will have no contact with. Of course, they'll be tested and any tourists testing positive will be sent back to the destination from where they departed. I believe that tourists will be tested either at the airport or a location near the airport, that way if the test is positive it will be easier to send them back.
  9. Surprised no one has posted this here.
  10. When OLTL 2.0 was on the web as a TOLN soap, I had this image of Corbin Blue's character being connected to Carla, perhaps her grandson and VR would play his mother but I knew no one in daytime was brave enough to do it. Perhaps if PP hadn't been such a structural mess, the idea might have stood a chance.
  11. I wonder if VR will have guests on her podcasts? If she could get Stephanie E. Williams, Tonya Lee Williams and Tamara Tunie and Tonya Pinkins, etc. to talk about their daytime experiences...that would be a hot ticket! I really want someone to interview those actresses because I don't think anyone's asked them about their experiences in daytime in the last decade or more.
  12. This f*cker. He's the worst (I was going to call him a child but that would be an insult to children everywhere). He has so much blood and death on his hands and all because he can't take one single thing seriously about this damn pandemic. Hell won't have him, at this point. That's how vile he is.
  13. These folks are still out here harassing people? Don't they know how the story is going to end??! Speaking of trash, Has the WaPo always done this type of thing?
  14. Yes, Mary Pierce's father was eventually banned from Tour events. I don't remember whether that also covered Slams, which are governed by the ITF.
  15. Rosemary Prinz was one of the featured players in a virtual production of Tartuffe, part of the Alliance Française co-production of the Molière In The Park series. Alan Locher should try to have Rosemary Prinz on a livestream as it seems like she could have access to the necessary tech to participate.
  16. Rosemary Prinz (Penny Hughes, ATWT) was one of the featured players in a virtual performance of Tartuffe, part of the Molière In The Park series. I will post the link in the As The World Turns thread, if anyone is interested in watching.
  17. When Coco had her initial breakout success, quite a number of people were complaining about what they perceived as the age eligibility rules holding her back. I think the heck not! Those rules are there for a reason. The pro-tennis entities tend to chew up their prodigies and then when disenchantment and burnout happens, those same entities look to point fingers at the players. Donald Young is a prime example of this. It wasn't him crumbling under the weight of expectations as much as it was him pushing back against being constantly told that his parents weren't good enough to be his coaches and that he should dump them--by the way, it was Donald Young Sr. who was coaching Taylor Townsend all during last year when she had her thrilling run in the U.S. Open--then when Young started to show a distinct lack of confidence, instead of seeing how they could help, the USTA was there to snicker and tut-tut about how they were right. Speaking of Townsend, the same USTA did a lot of emotional damage to her psyche but last year, she seemed to have been on the road to finally starting to meet her potential with some confidence. For me, it's too soon to tell which way Coco will end up but she certainly has the talent and the tools to become a great player.
  18. The WTA has the age eligibility rule, which many complain about but is there for a reason. I think the target should be the parents, guardians and the adults. Yes, parents get barred if the behavior is particularly egregious but in a sport where minors are allowed to compete at the highest levels, there should be some resources available for an athlete to turn to if they are being abused by a parent and/or coach. Nothing is 100% fool-proof but not to have anything at all in place is dereliction of duty. Another issue is what constitutes a minor is totally different in Europe than the U.S. Even so, there should be some resources for adults as well, although if an adult doesn't want to take action, there isn't much anyone can do. Not to even try though, is unconscionable.
  19. The question is which tennis association? The ITF? The WTA? Tennis Australia? Tennis has eleventy billion associations, all of them ineffective at pretty much anything.
