  1. How could I forget the ageless Ming Na Wen?? Lea Salonga, who took up the role originated by Ming Na Wen, didn't do another daytime soap, I am pretty sure, at least not on American TV.
  2. I suspect that many people would be buying videos or even downloads, which have become more the norm than they were 8, 9, 10 years ago. I think the consumer base might have increased with time had it kept going. The people who try to make the argument that the digitization process would have been a "cost loss" for P&G don't understand how business actually works. For 20 years, Amazon operated certain aspects of its company either at a negligible profit margin or at a modest loss. Many parts still do not operate at a profit --their cloud business and warehouse and distribution system more than makes up for those losses. They throw in movies and music into Amazon Prime but those are not really profit-makers for them, they are investments into continuing to make Amazon the "Go To" marketplace. As much as I dislike Amazon's business strategy, I must concede that it has been a massive success for them. P&G, yesteryear's Amazon used to understand this.
  3. The SoapClassics company was a brief respite, having put out collections of ATWT and GL and streaming on their online platform. The SoaopClassics company wanted to continue to do so but, as I understand it, couldn't secure permission from P&G to extend the agreement. The folks who wanted to make excuses for P&G (the same people who always make excuses for these mediocre soap production companies) at the time, claimed that it would take years for P&G to digitize a great deal of their episodes. Well, it's been years now, hasn't it? Imagine if P&G had actually allowed Soap classics to continue what they were doing, digitize episodes and stream them? Wouldn't there have been a significant amount of episodes in digital format?
  4. That part did make me think that she has 'Karen-esque' tendencies 😬. Still, she spoke many truths and didn't hold back and I wish more would do this. P&G has shown that they don't care about the legacy of their shows, why protect P&G's "reputation"? For what?? What is the purpose of appearing on these shows if you're not going to be honest about your experience, good and bad?
  5. And P&G is way too stupid and thoughtless to capitalize on mentions like those. All these series like Punky Brewster and Saved By The Bell, Karate Kid/Cobra Kai, The Doctors and Dark Shadows managing to have some presence on television and film, while P&G is still out there devaluing their own titles. Just. stupid.
  6. Okay, I thought it was strange that she wouldn't have been on any other soap having done so much television. lockquote widget
  7. No problem. She has been the subject of quite a few discussions in the ATWT thread. Phil Morris, who went on to play Jackie Chiles, only did Y&R. Tricia Cast, who has been acting since she was a child has only been in Y&R, it looks like.
  8. AFAIK, Meg Ryan, Marisa Tomei and Lyndsay Frost, Steven Weber, as well as ex-wife Finn Carter were only ever on ATWT. Lauryn Hill who did one or two film roles before devoting herself to music, only appeared on ATWT as well. Nia Long was only on GL, I think. @AbcNbc247 l'm pretty sure that Kim Johnston Ulrich appeared on ATWT in the previous decade.
  9. Only Kamala could have made me sit through that debate. One thing that did strike me was how vigorously Harris made a case for Joe's proposals and plans, even those she may not have entire agreed with during the early part of the Democratic primary season. This should put an end to the endless hand-wringing over whether Harris is sufficiently loyal. If ardent Obama supporters could get over Joe's remarks about Barack being "clean" and "articulate", surely Biden supporters can put away busing remarks said during a debate early in the primaries. Tens of millions of dollars raised later, surely it's time, no? Speaking of no and time, I have got none for the next debate, no thanks, lol.
  10. Flies are attracted to💩and Pence was full of it tonight. Also, he looked like he has conjunctivitis. Harris did pretty well, considering the possibility that her opponent looked like he was rotting.
  11. The debate committee or whoever is in charge needs to go on ahead and cancel the VP debate, in light of recent developments. Miller's diagnosis after five days is proof positive. Pun intended.
  12. Something else that I want to mention is that, despite his efforts to delay being questioned in the family fraud case, Eric Trump was deposed yesterday. Parts of the public may have forgotten about the case but the attorney general for the state of New York certainly hasn't. Neither has the SDNY. And it is doubtful that the election results will impact that investigation, as it has become clear that it isn't just about Donald now. The scope of I investigation has obviously widened to encompass other individuals.
  13. This thread has become quite ...something. I want to send my condolences to @marceline who I didn't send out words to yesterday because of the sheer breadth of the posts over the past few days. I hope you have a circle of friends and loved ones that you and your family can look to for comfort and healing. Even though we don't know each person by name, the loss of each person is immeasurable. Someday, with different leadership, there will be a national acknowledgement of collective grief.
  14. I would like to echo those sentiments, @Soapsuds I am very sorry for your loss. I know someone who passed from COVID-19 but it must hit differently when it's family. I will be holding everyone who has suffered through illness or a loss because of this dreadful virus in mind when I March my absentee ballot (which arrived today) to the drop-off box.
  15. Surprisingly candid, considering how reigned-in most of the discussions had been previously on this particular YouTube channel. I missed a portion of the actual livestream so I went back to watch yesterday when I had time to sit down and watch (rather than while multi-tasking).
  16. This article that came out days ago illustrates the uneven approach that the FFT is taking to staging this event. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/30/sports/tennis/coronavirus-french-open-bubble-hotel.html
  17. Still, I enjoyed this livestream discussion and the openness of the discussion, especially the social issues like BLM and LGBTQ and election/voting issues.
  18. Went back to see the beginning of the Locher Room livestream with Maureen Garrett, Rick Hearst and Amelia Marshall and that part where they all talk about the forest fires in California and wonder what will happen next 😳. Just a few hours later. I am glad that Amelia got to talk about working with Vince Williams and how special the Gilly/Hamp wedding. I wish Alan hadn't interrupted. Interesting to hear about the resistance to the Jessica and Duncan relationship on ATWT. It makes me wonder Marland's other story featuring a Black family faced resistance that perhaps Marland couldn't overcome. Sad to remember how lacking in courage the executives behind these shows could be.
  19. Trish James won't be pausing any pursuit of those tax forms. Anyone who believes otherwise just doesn't know anything about Ms. James.
  20. Paul Taylor is the name of the actor who played Isaac, I think.
  21. This is not just a feeling, this is a fact! It was as if many of the women writers on daytime soaps felt they had something to prove and as a result, had to be harder-charging, coarser and more brutal in their characterization and that would somehow prove their "mettle" by being especially cutting in their writing of women characters (a warped quest against being accused of being partial maybe?). It's really a shame because a writer who is a man feels perfectly entitled to write a man who is sensitive with many sides to his personality with many twists and turns in how he is written, meanwhile so many of the women characters will absolutely be savaged, under the pen of writers who are both men and women. Such a shame.
  22. From what I recall, it was someone in the chat that suggested that it was McTavish. Susan asked, demanded to know who wrote her final storyline. She asked Jay and he said he didn't know. Someone in the chat asked about McTavish and Susan said that she believed that McTavish didn't like to write for a woman.
  23. Some of us, in jest mused about Nancy Pelosi being sworn in as POTUS, until 2021. That was months ago but now it doesn't seem so far-fetched.
