EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I'm getting the feeling that because Penny and Sonia are cousins, the show wants us to believe that Penny has been in contact with the Brannings since childhood, just never showing up on the square. I'm not sure if we've seen Penny since she was a kid though. From Wiki; 2009-2023: Mentions In March 2010, Ronnie asks Jack about Penny and he says she is doing fine without him and that Penny made the right decision to go to France. In October 2013, Jack moves to France to reconnect with Penny, briefly returning to Walford for a visit during Christmas 2015. After Jack permanently returns to Walford, Penny calls Jack in December 2016 to tell him she cannot attend his second wedding to Ronnie because of a doctor's appointment in Paris. On 18 February 2020, Penny was mentioned by Max Branning when Max and Jack were having a fight.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I had seen the spoiler for this and it played out how i expected it; ridiculous and unnecessary. I thought they were working on pairing Aadi up with Tracy's daughter.

ALL: Legacy children who were undervalued or underdeveloped
Guiding Light Ben Reade undervalued Shayne Lewis undervalued. Every time we got a recast it was like a different character compared to the last. Samantha Marler undervalued/underdeveloped. Pretty crazy how we never heard from her again after her departure in the early 90s. India took in a kid by the name of Dorie, and India returned three times after her departure in the 80s, and Dorie was never mentioned. Could've been India's Achilles heel of sorts when it came to India's involvement the Spaulding corporate drama over the years. Matthew Evans was Amanda Spaulding's younger brother (his parents Jennifer and Mark Evans) and could have mixed it up with Michelle Bauer/Ben Reade/Billy Lewis. Emily Norris was the daughter of Ken Norris and Janet Mason. Ken returned in the late 90s, but the show of course had no interest at the time in it's history. Emily would've added to the Holly/Blake/Roger/Ed dynamic. William "Billy" Fletcher son of Peggy Scott; instead of introducing Hart Jessupt/Laura Jessup as part of Roger's history would've been quite nice to have Peggy's son return and increasingly become like a surrogate son to Roger with Blake growing jealous while on the outs with Roger. Andy Norris was written off and sent to jail after blackmailing the residents of Springfield; but I think the show should've brought him back at some point down the road to continue being a headache for both the Spaulding and Lewis families(Andy's history with Trish/his history with Alan).

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Sucks that he gets a promotion even though he's a complete and total hack. I just hope this means that with him being moved to a higher position, that we will get a new EP for Coronation Street, sort of like how they have Kate Oates over BBC dramatic programming, but Chris Clenshaw is the EP of EastEnders.

R.I.P.: Bridget Dobson another brutal loss of one of daytime's finest
RIP Bridget Dobson. She shaped so much of my show GL, and made an lasting impact not just at GL but their other shows. I've always wondered how the Dobson's would have fared at THE DOCTORS after the Pollocks departed, replacing another couple who were writers and known for their long drawn and sometimes intricate stories.

DAYS: spoilers for week of January 8th
I’ll laugh my butt off if the tptb notice an uptick in streams under the scab writer material and then a dip after we go back to Ron’s writing.😂

GH: Surprise Announcement!?
How, predictable.

Ratings from the 70's
Looks like ATWT fell quite a bit. Impressive numbers for AMC. Another World also rebounding (I wonder why).

ALL: Recasts who seemed like a different character.
GL: Brian Gaskill's Dylan Lewis 🤣 and the last actress to play Susan Lemay/Daisy. Honestly, Y&R, AMC, and GL could have their own threads when it comes to this.

Y&R: Former Port Charles actor joins the show
LOL Wasn't it discussed in another thread how he was paraded from CBS soap to CBS soap, and here he pops up again, a decade later 🤣

ALL: Hope/wishes for the soaps in 2024 except Days which tapes 2 years ahead
You could always delve into Sharon's childhood and who her father is.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Weston/Conboy derailed a noble attempt by Rauch/Taggart/Culliton to ground and center the show. Even though they may have gotten the ratings up for what I believe was Feb Sweeps of 2004 with that ridiculous Maryanne Carruthers story, they were just as destructive to the show's core as some of their predecessors; McTavish, B&E, etc.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Congrats. The show has actually been making gains month to month all year. This was to be expected, but good news ultimately; being their most watched episode for Xmas since 2019.
