  1. Since taking over I do admire how Chris Clenshaw has catapulted Diane Parish to the forefront of the show; she never fails to deliver.
  2. This is so disappointing. 😔
  3. If he's not bad as an actor, I don't see why the show couldn't have just cast him as Steven Weber. But then again that would mean increased screen time for Liz.
  4. Annie Lennox really did Sinead O'Connor justice by her performance. Loved Miley's performance and wins. (And the shade she threw at Billy Ray by not mentioning him at all) While I listened to SZA's album all last year, was kind of disappointed by her performance.
  5. No she did not. Expect the pace to pick up under her though.
  6. Rest in Peace Carl Weathers 💔 https://deadline.com/2024/02/carl-weathers-dead-1235812684/
  7. Days really knows how to cast it's younger actors. Tate and Holly's portrayers were definitely quite the find.
  8. Alfie's prostate cancer storyline has surprisingly turned out to be a well written story, despite how it's been on the backburner for the past month or so. When the show writes Alfie as a real human being, instead of a cartoon, Shane Ritchie delivers. Linda and Alfie's friendship continues to be one of the bright spots on the show.
  9. Thanks for these Matt, I see we're nearing one of the most legendary moments for GL and Meta.
  10. Josh Griffith is writing Y&R with very little understanding about what made Y&R, well Y&R. Yes the show was at times about business takeovers and etc., but it was detailed, there were high stakes involved, and often it was the backdrop of a much bigger story playing out. Josh is just lazily writing what he thinks is corporate intrigue in the 21st century, with very little detail, and boring scripts that lead to nowhere including buzzwords such as "merger", "take over", "CEO, CFO, etc". It's as if ChatGPT is writing the script with the direction to pen business stories on a soap. So bland, uninspiring, and lacking any depth.
  11. My memory is foggy around this time period, but I don't believe they ever did. When NF took over I recall she was in the middle of that abysmal pairing with Josh, which to be honest I would've taken Jeffrey/Cassie over Josh/Cassie just to avoid the character assassination. The show was laser focused on making Josh/Cassie work, and then they started focusing on Josh becoming a reverend; while the show tried to pair Jeffrey with Blake and Mel, before settling on Reva. I get just seasick recalling those all those ridiculous pairings under Wheeler and Co.
  12. Yeah Jeffrey sucked, and no way he should have lasted that long (until the show's cancellation and being paired up with Reva made it worse). Taggart and Co. were right to kill off Richard the first time around. And it's funny how Richard was brought back in the form of Jeffrey to appease RASSIE fans, but for a majority of Jeffrey's run the show spent pairing him up with everyone except Cassie. (They briefly hooked up but it was blink and you miss it kind of thing)
  13. Yesterday January 25, 2024 would've been Guiding Light's 87th Anniversary. Happy Belated Birthday ❤️
  14. I'm just making an educated assumption here, but soaps normally do celebrate a character's 18th birthday and make a big hoopla about it. It's rare that they make a big event of ones 21st birthday. 🤷‍♂️
  15. Thank you for linking this, it was a fun and very enlightening read.
  16. Sadly, in the back of my mind, this is what I'm thinking as well. However I will take it at face value for now and be optimistic that Patrick and Elizabeth can get the show back to where it belongs, thus reinstating ABC's faith in the show for years to come. Unpopular opinion but I feel that not only is B&B a a place for retiring talented daytime writers, but so was DAYS with Richard & Carolyn Culliton, and Lorraine Broderick. I will say this about Dan and Chris, they had me GLUED to my screen during the Cyrus hostage situation with Laura/Porsha/Trina. That was their peak and I will always appreciate the fact that they for a short period of time reinvigorated my interest in a US daytime soap this day and age. They had some good moments; Jason/Brit, Ava's stalking, Spencer's return, and quite a few more. If anything I do hope at least Dan finds another show to write for so we can see what his writing is like without the influence of a meddling network and a EP who's biases are as clear as day.
  17. It’s gonna be a test on whether our favorites that we often sing praises around here for, still got it. I’ll wait and see…(FV is still there) Thank goodness we don’t have to wait 20 years for their material to start airing (coughDAYScough) 😆
  18. They’re saying Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte are their replacements https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/general-hospital-taps-patrick-mulcahey-elizabeth-korte-as-co-head-writers/
  19. Chris and Dan's writing is almost similar to Josh Griffith's current tenure at Y&R. It's allergic to drama and raising the stakes in a storyline. I wouldn't rate it as bad as Y&R, but both regimes have the same problem. For Chris and Dan they make story decisions that come out of nowhere, and those decisions never tend to be beneficial to the show in the long run. Was there a need to really tamper with Trina's paternity? Was there really a need to drag Willow's cancer out for months? Was there really a need to make a long winded story based on Nina ratting out Carly/Drew to the feds? And if you look at the reason behind they made these decisions; it was to prop the favorites of ABC/Frank and it was done in the most unflattering of ways. I'm not even excited about Liz getting better writing because ultimately I believe Frank is to blame for the lack of screen time and focus on Liz and her family. And don’t get me started on the dropping of storylines and picking them up later on when you’ve finally come up with not even a plausible reason or climax. Harmony killing Alexis’s doctor boyfriend? Huh?
  20. I would be optimistic about this if it wasn't for the fact that Frank is still there, and anyone that is hired to replace Chris and Dan will merely just be puppets.
  21. The show is trying make Carly and Nina into something like Brooke vs Erica on AMC, and it's. not. working.
  22. I'd actually state that carrying over from the mid to late 80s, soaps started tackling more socially relevant storylines, such as homosexuality and racism in the wake of Rodney King. It seems though that after the OJ Simpson trial (1994/1995), soaps started drifting away from that and going the more sensationalistic route, trying to attract 90210/Melrose Place viewers by the end of the decade.
  23. I have a feeling that Kat and Alfie are going to be drawn into the six, moreso than folks believed at Christmas. Good. It was glaring as hell that Kat was left out of it.
  24. Didn't this type of story play out on Another World with Jake and Paulina getting together? She shot him and he blackmailed her into marriage, and then they actually began to fall in love?
