Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Sucks that he gets a promotion even though he's a complete and total hack. I just hope this means that with him being moved to a higher position, that we will get a new EP for Coronation Street, sort of like how they have Kate Oates over BBC dramatic programming, but Chris Clenshaw is the EP of EastEnders.

R.I.P.: Bridget Dobson another brutal loss of one of daytime's finest
RIP Bridget Dobson. She shaped so much of my show GL, and made an lasting impact not just at GL but their other shows. I've always wondered how the Dobson's would have fared at THE DOCTORS after the Pollocks departed, replacing another couple who were writers and known for their long drawn and sometimes intricate stories.

DAYS: spoilers for week of January 8th
Iāll laugh my butt off if the tptb notice an uptick in streams under the scab writer material and then a dip after we go back to Ronās writing.š

Ratings from the 70's
Looks like ATWT fell quite a bit. Impressive numbers for AMC. Another World also rebounding (I wonder why).

ALL: Recasts who seemed like a different character.
GL: Brian Gaskill's Dylan Lewis 𤣠and the last actress to play Susan Lemay/Daisy. Honestly, Y&R, AMC, and GL could have their own threads when it comes to this.

Weston/Conboy derailed a noble attempt by Rauch/Taggart/Culliton to ground and center the show. Even though they may have gotten the ratings up for what I believe was Feb Sweeps of 2004 with that ridiculous Maryanne Carruthers story, they were just as destructive to the show's core as some of their predecessors; McTavish, B&E, etc.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Congrats. The show has actually been making gains month to month all year. This was to be expected, but good news ultimately; being their most watched episode for Xmas since 2019.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
For all it's worth, I do admire the show for ignoring the obvious that without her children and Mick, Linda is aimless as a character, and the show is pretty much throwing everything in her direction to make sure she remains relevant; from introducing her mom and soon-to- be step dad and family, to bringing back her rapist. Here's my prediction as to where things could go, possibly leading up to the anniversary in 2025. I have a feeling that it will be Suki who is the enforcer or the schemer of the group; as she has shown a devious side when she first arrived having faked having cancer. It's that side of her may jeopardize her relationship with Eve since Nish might be out of the picture. Denise and Stacey will have their squabbles because Stacey bedded Denise's husband. That'll create immense conflict. I wonder if Jack will redeem himself down the road by losing his job all just to cover for Denise. Kathy and maybe Sharon might be the ones who are levelheaded in this scheme. If Dean did not see the murder, then I can definitely see Linda accidentally alluding to it when Dean accuses her of harboring another secret (her drinking). Then there's also Keanu's dad (the show could cast a big name actor for the role) who is in prison for being violent...could he also come back to enact revenge, most importantly against Sharon....possibly bringing back Karen too to make an unholy alliance with him. There are so many routes to take with this story in 2024 and possibly into early 2025.

That A-M barely interacted with anyone outside of Marina and Harley. It was a horrible return. With the exception of Dinah, many of Wheeler's returns, most notably recasts, were like new characters. Dylan? Unrecognizable. Mallet? A Pig and Neanderthal. Susan/Daisy? Basically a new teen character. If not a stronger actor, I would've loved to have seen A-M interact with characters outside of Wheeler/Kreizman's favorites and reference some history. Vanessa, Frank, anyone who was a Bauer on the canvas. Even Holly. I would've even supported them forming some type of new bond between him and Dinah. All of that went out of the window when A-M was forced to be in the orbit of the Cooper girls, which really was the characters undoing the last time he was in Springfield.

ALL: Darkest storylines in soap operas
I would name the Brent/Marian Crane story on GL, another one penned by Megan McTavish. Watching this story as a kid was unnerving. I really do hate that we lost one of my favorite characters; Nadine, to this psycho and it was so horrible how she went. Which also brings me to also having literal nightmares when I watched poor Frankie beg for her life on Another World. Crazy how I do believe both these stories took place around the same time.
