Nobody in the writer's room seems to have any sort of financial background. We're supposed to just wave it away, I guess.

Yeah, it's maddening, both with Hayley and with Leslie. This kind of thing happens with a lot of characters on BTG -- you can't think about any plot too much beyond the surface or it all falls apart.

When a person is charged with attempted murder, can the alleged victim "drop the charges?" I think Haley would be charged by the County, not by Bill. So Bill would not have the authority to drop the charges.

Oh, and please don't tell me it's just a soap.

Aaaaaaand another example of the need to avoid thinking about these plots for more than a minute. I criticize other soaps for this, so I'm not letting BTG off the hook.

-- Really disappointed to see Dani's deep sobbing and crying over Bill while she talked to Nicole. I don't want her to be that emotionally tied to Bill after all he's done to her. I'm never going to be onboard with Dani and Bill reuniting.

-- Kind of stunning that Randy waited until now to negotiate a take with Hayley. Really???

-- No, Randy randomly talking about his son doesn't make me think he's been a great father.

-- I'm still laughing at every Joey comment that he's having Heather followed. No idea what that's supposed to accomplish.

-- So Joey now has Andre's video of Heather killing someone and still can't make any moves against her?

-- Meanwhile, Heather is having her "friends" carjacked. We're getting a villain who is going to be really hard to keep on this show.

Yes, Joey knows that Heather is the Impaler. She directly told him this. This comes back to two issues I have with the show. One is the lack of showing and the constant telling us what happened. Had

There is nothing that screams classic, pre-80’s soap to me about how the stories are told, paced, and executed on this show. The assertion that viewers watching somehow can’t appreciate that type of s

I honestly don't think anyone here hates the show, but that is my perspective. I think people are frustrated because they had high hopes for the show. Maybe that was a mistake for some of us to expect

As much as I’m enjoying AJ as Heather, I don’t think the character needs to be around long term. How about an actual onscreen death for once.

One of the biggest problems with BTG is TPTB on this show seem to fall in love with actors, and then are reluctant to write them off when that might be exactly what is needed. How many murderers, attempted murderers, and/or likely murderers are still walking around free on this show? It may be up to around five or six!! Somebody in charge has a serious lack of artistic discipline. And somebody needs to make the hard decisions.

Sometimes a soap opera character needs to be written off, even if the actor is well-liked by TPTB or popular with the audience.

To be fair, this has been increasingly a problem with all soaps for decades now.

Understood, and I agree. But I do have higher expectations of BTG because this show has started fresh, and should not develop the bad habits that other existing soap operas have. Plus, viewers have been told that BTG plans to feature believable drama. Perhaps not realistic, but at the very least believable. Having screeching Haley going around town for the next six-months, openly bragging about all the wealthy men she has swindled and possibly murdered without being rearrested and tried for her crimes is not believable drama, in my opinion. This is all just my perception of the show. I'm not offended if others disagree.

I agree. There's a lot to like about BTG, but I came to this show hoping they'd avoid the bad tropes and plotlines that we've seen other soaps do for decades. I don't want the stuff I've been rolling my eyes at since forever.

This has nothing to do with budget slashing in daytime. It's about lazy writing that creates good, solid story but then refuses to write realistic consequences for characters.

And no, "GH is so much worse" is no excuse.

Although, it might be a over the top that Haley is walking around free, I think its fun in a strange way and making me want see what she is going to do next.

I think it was a good move to make and I'm really looking forward to see if the ratings held or hopefully picked up.

I know there was a throwaway line from SPS/Leslie where she mentioned she had a financial advisor that was helping grow her money so that sort of explains how she has a decent amount of money after all this time. It's not perfect, but at least they did make mention of it at least once.

Dani's conduct is why I hate having her on all the time. It's the same thing with her... she has two or three emotions (either she makes wisecracks, she looks down on others, or she's overly emotional)... it's very high school play level of acting. I still wonder what Daphnee would have done with the role of Dani since she tried out for the role before being cast as Nicole.

Unpopular opinion: I think that Anita and Nicole seem to fill the same function/trope on the soap... so they both get short-changed. Had TT wanted to stay only a short time, the cancer story could have been a way to write Anita off with Nicole inheriting the matriarch mantel. I would have just had Anita passed away... and had TT playing Nicole and Daphnee playing Dani.

When I look at Randy, I want to say 'Sweetie, please don't speak. Smile and look pretty'. Me and a bunch of my female friends in high school used to coin that about cute, but dumb men LOL

This is why I'm a bit bummed that AJ is playing Heather.. and the show is writing her very close to a corner... because she's a natural fit on the show and made the last few months watchable. She actually got stuff done.

My prediction: Either Heather or Hayley will end up in a whodunit by the end of season 2 with season 3 trying to figure out who offed them.

I like them both, but I do get your point about them fulfilling the same function.

Speaking of...today I wanted Anita to watch Leslie and Anastasia argue and fight -- not break them up and play peacemaker.

I hope you're right, but I don't see this happening.

(at a young age)

I think Hayley is closer to Marquita's age (probably late 30s - 40), but posed as 27 to befriend Naomi and become a trophy wife.

Seeing Hayley finally be herself and especially hearing her trash Bill’s daughters is giving me LIFE although I can already see the frustration coming when yet another criminal gets away with everything.

As Broderick and others have pointed out, Hayley’s backstory makes no sense. She’s simply too young to have pulled off that many cons. What I don’t understand is why nobody has connected her to Randy yet. The Randy/Sammy connection should be incredibly easy to uncover, especially since he’s closely connected to Vanessa (and to me, that’s another writing flaw)

I’m still behind and only up to Monday, but that episode was yet another therapy-speak fest. Nicole, Martin, Izaiah—they’re all endlessly understanding, emotionally aware, and capable of empathizing with everyone. Honestly, this show has convinced me that psychiatrists and therapists have no place on soaps. They rationalize away all the irrational behavior, which also takes away the fun and the drama. A soap where everyone is constantly processing their feelings in therapy-speak just isn’t that interesting to me.

I’m happy we got to see one of those rare moments when there’s Dupree on Dupree friction, this time with Nicole and dimwit Chelsea — although obviously it was shut down quickly.

As for Rowena, I’ve always assumed her absence is an inside joke. I think they deliberately keep mentioning her while never showing her, partly because of the optics: presumably, actually showing the Duprees employing a Black maid might create an image the show would rather avoid. There’s really no easy way around it.

(I agree with those saying Jan could have been their housekeeper instead but Jan is such an oddly specific character—a blonde, white Jewish housekeeper. I honestly can’t remember seeing a character quite like that on another show, let alone encountering that particular combination in real life)

Anyway, this thing about Rowena is just my interpretation, and I could be completely wrong. For example, whenever Hayley and Randy used to have their secret meetings at Uptown, I assumed the writers were asking us to suspend our disbelief and cut them some slack because they simply didn’t have enough sets available. Then one day Bill actually caught Hayley and Randy at Uptown, which confirmed that, yes, the writers genuinely intended for these two people to hold their secret meetings in plain sight at a place Bill regularly frequents. 😐

Two possible cat fights in one episode?

Lionel and Anastasia pop up-but to what purpose? Give Leslie someone else to mouth off to? Will it be months before they are seen again?

What about Kial and Noah? Weeks go by w/o characters being seen.

Loved the slap and Hayley just being who she really is now!

Did we just learn that Randy has a son, or did we know that and I forgot?

Entertaining episode again!
