As for Rowena, I’ve always assumed her absence is an inside joke. I think they deliberately keep mentioning her while never showing her, partly because of the optics: presumably, actually showing the Duprees employing a Black maid might create an image the show would rather avoid. There’s really no easy way around it.

interesting take. kind of like maris on fraiser.

Yes, Joey knows that Heather is the Impaler. She directly told him this. This comes back to two issues I have with the show. One is the lack of showing and the constant telling us what happened. Had

There is nothing that screams classic, pre-80’s soap to me about how the stories are told, paced, and executed on this show. The assertion that viewers watching somehow can’t appreciate that type of s

I honestly don't think anyone here hates the show, but that is my perspective. I think people are frustrated because they had high hopes for the show. Maybe that was a mistake for some of us to expect

I think this is exactly what it is with no additives.

Thoughts:

  • My poor Vanessa. She looks traumatised. The poor dear.

  • As outwardly calm and understanding as Dani is right now... I know she is about to go off on Bill.

  • Not Hayley wishing she could poison Dana. Sweetheart, it did not go well when you did it to Bill. I doubt Dana would be another worthwhile try.

  • Bite-sized bitch? Another Dani-ism that really trickled down into Naomi... proving that they are mother-daughter.

  • A solution to her problem? Dana, you have your own problems you still need some solutions to.

  • Marco left Vanessa alone. Damn. I have a feeling he is going to be FIRED! Hilarious. But omg, poor Vanessa. I feel so bad for what she went through.

  • G'damn Joey... that was a powerful "EVERYONE!" Damn.

  • Oh snap... is Dana about to turn Hayley onto Lionel over Bill? That could be a... twist. Oh, it is for access to the country club. Interesting.

  • Hayley... you could eat the Andes candy, but that is all you deserve to eat.

  • I know that Dani understands what is going on, but she brings up a very good point ⏤ how is Bill going to keep Hayley on a leash? Even if he gives her everything she wants, what is going to stop her from continuing on?

  • I mean, I understand what you are trying to do, Chelsea; however, you did assault Hayley first by throwing the drink on her. You initiated the alteration. I would tread carefully.

  • Good on Nicole for standing up to Joey in defence of Vanessa. I am glad that she is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with Joey. That fire is needed in Vanessa's life more, and I hope Nicole does not back down any time soon.

  • That poor pillow having to be defiled by the child bride's shrieks.

  • Just as I called it... Chelsea provoked Hayley, so she is at fault. I called it.

  • Solid advice from Ted to Andre, and I hope that Andre does listen to him. Talk to Dani sooner than later.

  • Heather... you sly dog. Joey will find you. And it will not be pretty. At all.

Notes:

  • A very nice mix of characters and storylines in today's episode. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So, so much!

-- I spit my drink when Vanessa was rolled into Garland in a wheelchair looking like she'd just walked the runway at a fashion show. I'll credit them with "intended camp." That was hilarious.

-- My laughs were gone in a second. AGAIN with Joey SCREAMING at a Black employee. Twice. This is awful stuff.

-- Bill is soooooo powerful and connected that he can have all the charges dropped against Hayley, yet he's not powerful enough to give Hayley less than "everything she asked for"? They're writing about the problems many of us mentioned yesterday, and while I appreciate that, I'm not buying this, either.

-- I'm at "wait and see" as far as why Leslie is working so hard to become Hayley's good friend. Does she see this as her only path to getting her shouse built? So far I'm not buying any of this.

You notice how Hayley is exciting but everyone she's against is so boring and complacent that it's hard to care about them?

Respectfully, I don't know what this means.

What exactly is a "shouse?" I'm not getting it.

Not that Hayley didn't deserve that splash of water to the face, but Chelsea should be smart enough to know that she was the aggressor and can't run to the cops crying she was attacked. She may as well have made it worth it and punched Hayley instead of that water throw.
