Already enjoying Ethan! The scenes with Ethan and Lulu were warm and they seem to already have good sibling chemistry.

Otherwise a bit of a slow day, although I enjoyed Carly/Lucas. Willow/Jacinda got good at the end and I'm excited to see Michael enter the scene on Monday.

Still not getting a romantic vibe for Laura/Ezra (hope I'm right), but starting to think they're trying to redeem Ezra and make him less of a greasy slimeball.

Seeing how good Jeff Kober has been this season on The Pitt just makes me that much more angry about his role at GH as Cyrus. They styled and presented him poorly throughout onscreen, to the point that both in terms of physicality and in story Cyrus came off like a doddering old man quoting Bible verses or weeping for pity because he ran over Dad in the driveway, all the while vaguely terrorizing people like a Scooby-Doo villain or a hokey carnival barker.

Most of this is because this era's creative team fundamentally does not do well writing supervillains and especially mob-related villains. It is not their wheelhouse and never has been. They got a tremendous actor in Kober from China Beach, The First Power, etc. but did not know how to execute, whereas most of Guza's campiest criminals still had a sense of menace and lethality to them. This team and FV fall in love with unique character actors and are generally content to have them merely gesture towards villainy and then tread water for months or years, making both the villain and the lead characters look impotent and weak for not dealing with each other. Cyrus meanders around town whining about his mom and begging for Laura's love for months, then has silly connections to Roger Howarth, then he's maybe reformed maybe not and quoting scripture and so on. It's the same floundering, ambivalent approach with Sidwell today, though Carlo Rota is far too irreverent to project real menace in general and also does not do well with high dramatics.

If they'd leaned into letting Kober off the leash as in his classic roles, or gave him have the solemnity and soul he has had on The Pitt this season he could have been something really special - and scary. But they fell in love with having him around, with making him Laura's brother, and he came off far more toothless and past it on GH than he actually is. I have to apologize to Kober, who I've always liked a lot in other things. He's still got it but GH couldn't write it. This has been your pointless late night thought.

Yes! I thought he was a real get when they hired him, and then that is what they did with him?!? Even the idea of exploring Laura’s biological father had real merit, and ended up being useless. Tying Kentucky Fried Tad to it was beyond stupid. I was happy to see Jeff on The PITT this season too.

The years of trying to make Mac and Alexis happen were awful.

As was the attempt with Laura during the Carly/Laura Deception storyline and Felicia affair. On GH Genie, like Tony, had chemistry with pretty much everybody. NLG does too for the most part, as does Rick Hearst. GF even brought out a real sweet side to Brad Maule. But not as a couple, and the same with Mac. Even the pairing with Felicia was because they were both hot and there, and big enough draws that Wendy Riche needed at that time. As the years go by I think that Ryan story and Jagger/Karen/Brenda/Jason kind of saved her and kept ABC from interfering with her too much. They bought her time.

I can’t believe Ethan and Kristina are sharing scenes after all these years, and it’s not Lexi in the role of Kristina. 😭 Kate has been a terrible recast, but they keep trying to force it.

I do think Mac and Felicia worked, but I also think they owe a lot of it to the Ryan story and what I felt was a very strong reintroduction for Kristina Wagner when I saw her first days recently. They went all in on Felicia solo as a real sparkplug and she was at the height of her ability.

I think both those larger stories and Jagger/Karen bought her time, but I've always felt Mac and Felicia in '92-'94 or a bit later were very solid, rootable stuff. It was a different time, and they found a niche where Kristina and JJY just worked.

I think Mac and Felicia worked because they had good chemistry but were good utility players with the Outback being a main hangout as well. They both had so many connections it was almost a no brainer to use them solidly as support.

Anyways, Nathan is back. Yay? You had JJ and Lucky and now we are doing a re-do with the random kid? I know Nathan and Luke were close, but he met him when he was a full grown adult so it's weak. It's very Skye knowing everything about "grandfather" 5 minutes after they met. At least he cut that ponytail off and I do like my little Ethan/Kristina scenes.

They are really laying this Carly/Valentin love story on thick. Okay, whatever show. He is still creepy. I did laugh that it took Lucas/Carly an entire hour to make a salad though.

It's really something how they tried to Jedi Mind Wipe us into believing Skye had been a Quartermaine all along.

Don't even get me started on Skye....The few years she was a fake Q saying things like "well you know how us Q's are and oh, grandfather". The hilarious part is they un-Q'ed her to make the non-starter Ned/Skye pairing work.

Welcome back, Ethan!

And I couldn't help but think that we were supposed to see Willow as the bad guy in her scenes with Jacinda, but yeah, it's not gonna work lol

This Carly Val love story BLOWS.

Enjoyed Jacinda vs Willow. I always laugh when Willow says Michael shot Drew. She’s such an evil snot.

Yeah, Valentin is so down bad for her so fast it is pathetic lol. They do have real chemistry and LW and JPS are both working very hard together onscreen, but Valentin still comes off as a weepy loser whining for Carly who he only just got to know a couple months ago. This is a man of the world and he's acting like they're engaged. All because (IMO) Frank is determined to make sure Valentin is firmly rooted again.

Please do not trigger my Nikolas Cassadine rage epilepsy reminding me of those scenes! But I think Ned/Skye was only a side element tbh, since it lasted about two minutes. I think Guza just didn't like her or buy it. And good for him!

Never have respected Guza more if he made that choice.

It’s so funny how much you guys hate Skye. When I started watching GH I had no idea her backstory on all of ABC daytime and really enjoyed her. Also hated how they ruined her and Alcazar who I really liked together.

Several pages back on this thread, there was discussion of TJ. Just wanted to add my input - yeah that was disrespect shown by the show simply ceasing to air him without a mention. At least Bobby Martin was said to be up in the attic looking for skis, and Don Craig went to mail a letter. Was there ever any mention of TJ when he exited? I am reading here that TJ was mentioned last week re: Jordan in the hospital. Where is TJ supposedly now?

Also want to add: When Willow had cancer and was pregnant with Amelia, she got close to TJ (while he was coordinating her medical care), and she asked him to keep her diagnosis secret for a while. It was platonic but seemed to have the potential for more. I wonder how Willow/TJ would have played out.

I actually like Robin Christopher and Skye quite a bit, in doses and in a certain context. I think she should've definitely returned to AMC at some point. But she stuck out like a sore thumb for me for much of her time at GH, and her time at OLTL wasn't much better. She's talented but JFP's use of her poisoned the well.

I would welcome Skye back for short stints today to cause some trouble and bring on her daughter with Alcazar. RC used to do that off and on in the late 2000s and early '10s so JFP could help her keep her insurance. Like what could've been with KDP's Blair as a rival for Lucy and Deception a couple years ago during the strike, that is a role that suits Skye. But trying to force her as a long-term integral part of the canvas never worked for me.
