Interesting Article! And good Name for A Primetime Special!

But despite Everything I think she is far more restrained on Y&R than On GH! I remember a Short of her Shouting "Regret!" That made me smile Real Hard!

the material she has been giving feels more Gina Like anyway, she's doing the best she can, anyways this is the most active she has been on the show since her return on 2019!

GET HER, SUMMER!!!! There's been quite a few good scenes this particular week. And half of them have had AL in them. I loved her vs Sally. And then her vs Nick. And then her and Kyle got into it. And finally here she is called out Mommie Dearest. She's been very good at confrontation and I liked that she runs through great emotional shifts. It's fascinating to watch. And she does good background character, too.

I will never get tired on a downward spiral Phyllis. I said she would lose her &*( when Jack got back with Diane, but THIS?? WOW. Though I'm shocked her and Jeremy haven't slept together yet.

That Nate/Daniel scene really resonated. Felt the layers.

Lily vs Devon continues to build and I don't mind it at all. I am counting down the days until Amanda shows up. Or should I be saying IF since Devon does seem to be considering Tucker's offer.

And as always...Ashley is LOVE. Though it's weird to see her and Billy in scenes.

Billy and Ashley is an interesting dynamic the show doesn’t play enough. Billy in general is the most isolated Abbott. Do the elder Abbott siblings ever even acknowledge their niece and nephew Johnny and Katie? They’re being completely raised as Newman’s.

I don't think they have touched on that at all with Katie and Johnny outside of maybe Traci making a reference in her conversations with Billy. I am probably wrong.

They were definitely refreshing scenes. I almost wouldn't mind seeing Billy and Ashley in more scenes.

Perhaps if Billy is taking that Jabot job, he will be less isolated now.

Re: the Y&R special anniv edition of SOD:
pressreader.com has magazines from all over the world - to read online copies.  Sometimes you can purchase a single issue, and sometimes they accept paypal.
Go to this link in a few days and *maybe* you can find it. One issue will be featured, but scroll down to find a menu of all the available issues.  If you don't see it, check every day or two and (hopefully) they'll eventually list it?
https://www.pressreader.com/usa/soap-opera-digest

(If you choose to purchase it there, be sure to select the single issue,  because the default is to pay to subscribe for several months or a year.)

Because it's not part of the regular weekly issues, it might have its own page on the pressreader site.

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
