The show is trying to make Esme into Nelle 2.0. Nelle wasn't even a character deserving of a clone. It just reads as plot driven and desperate, with no idea as to what direction they want to take Trina/Spencer or Esme.

While I would love that, it would defeat the purpose [in my head] of Selina having female lovers... and one of them being Ms. Kristina Corinthos-Davis. Haha. I know Lydia Look is up for the idea of Ms. Wu having female companions, so I wouldn't want her being the one against Terry being trans... maybe her father, though?

I have always suspected that Rory is working in cahoots with Selina. That's how she knew to go to Curtis and offer help re: Trina. Rory is her inside person.

According to Marcus Coloma, he is back airing next week... a.k.a. Adam Huss is not on long enough!

MC's Nik always seems so dumb.  I like the recast.

Am I the only one who finds Nina to be the most annoying character on the show currently?  There are a lot of characters I dislike, but I cannot stand Nina and her stupid assumptions and just her in general.   I know she's not the worst character on this show by far, but I find her to be so grating.

Also if Sonny is going to be on everyday I need him to do something.  I swear he's been sitting at table waiting for Nina for 3 episodes and last week he was wandering around the hospital for like 2 episodes acting like Gossip Girl over Willow/TJ.  I can't believe I am advocating for a "Sonny" storyline, but since he is going to be on regardless give him something to do besides taking up space.

-- I have to agree about Sonny. MB should be EMBARRASSED to be this supposedly powerful figure who says things like "Want to see our new club kitchen?" so Frank can show off his new hallway set.

-- The actress playing Esme showed her limits today, I'm afraid. That crying thing at the end of the show was hard to watch.

-- Selina Wu? Let me repeat: that low, monotone voice is annoying as hell and doesn't make her seem more powerful. Just a bad actor choice.

I agree with all of that. The fact is that the Nell actress is FAR better than this Esme actress.

I just don't even understand why Sonny's on most episodes.  He doesn't do anything of importance.  I swear he spent 3 full episodes listening to Nina's dumb assumptions about things.  MB/Sonny isn't everyone's fave, but he deserves more than that.

Selina Wu's monotone voice annoys me too lol.  Is it supposed to be sinister?

I have always felt Esme and Nelle were almost the same character and Esme has none of the spark CL's Nelle did.

Obviously a Brenda return would be ideal in my world.  It's been clear for a few years that would be the next logical arc for Sonny.  But FV apparently hates VM/Brenda or something lol.  CW/MB do have decent chemistry, but they don't have a compelling story at all.  I much prefer Carly/Sonny contained together, but the show seems to be able to give Carly different things to do and seem to be at a loss with Sonny.  I wouldn't be against resting Sonny for a bit, but MB is on 4 times a week so he might as well not be wasting my time.

    • Yes, the Liz and Lucky scenes were horrible. Kristina better be sent to prison.   I'm already getting tired of BLQ continuing to blame Lois for her mistakes. Yes, let's move this along.
    • Oh I agree that they erred in not showing her bonding more with her family and not having this examined more closely. I think if I cared about Lucky or Laura I'd be more agitated. I think the material they have given her (aside from chasing after Charlotte, which was hurt by not focusing more on Rocco's response and just by Charlotte never having a reason to exist) has been OK but certainly not what it could have been.
    • I have never been much of a Lulu fan either since the JMB days.  I do think Alexa Havins is really a great recast.  When Lulu returned it was at the expense of Sam (no loss to me) but not the best for audience favor, she was barely on screen for weeks after she woke up, then went to run off and put everyone in danger to find Charlotte at the expense of her other child, and finally moved on to this Brook/Dante baby investigation.  Lulu never had a chance to grieve the years she lost, re-bond with her family or her friends, re-integrate herself back into town, or be anything more than a chaos creator. Meanwhile, Brook Lynn is this poor, innocent victim that's being bullied by Lulu.  I don't think Lulu is right.  I would just like a little more subtlety in the writing.
    • Just beautifully done. I could name some minor quibbles, but I won't, because what DAYS gave us today was golden. That was soap opera at its finest, paying homage to history and legacy and actors and the audience. This is why we love soaps.
    • To clarify, we could argue about the necessity to have John Black speak while in hospital, but the body created an opportunity for people to touch him, and move around him.  Even though I never totally suspended my disbelief, I appreciated their creative choice to form a visual representation of loss.  Certainly there were other ways to tell this story, but it will stay with me because those production choices enabled these performances. However, with disdain, I note that Days has found an odd middle ground between a flashback and a montage.  I define a flashback as least a couple of rounds of dialogue, if not a whole scene.  And a montage would be a visual snippet without much dialogue.  But, these were often just a single line, or an entrance.  It felt like a bit of a tease, and made me wish that Peacock had curated a playlist of John Black's Greatest Hits, like they do for some Bravo shows or SNL characters.  OT - but they have yet to maximize that platform.
    • It's tough for me because I feel like this has always been Lulu. She used to be even worse, slut-shaming, verbally abusing other women, and always being written as being in the right. They should let Brook Lynn get dirtier, but I think the material of Lulu digging and being self-righteous, making everything worse even while not intending to do so, but also not being as in the wrong as Dante thinks she is, all makes sense for her. But I don't have as much experience with Lulu as a lot of fans as I just could never stomach her beyond the time she was a mute kid, so I don't have much right to speak.
    • Thanks @JAS0N47 for all the ratings!   All My Children hits Number 1 in the ratings for the first time in its history during the week of 8/20/73-8/20/73!
    • I think the writing is slanted against Lulu.  I don't think there is an issue with the character in general.  I just think Lulu comes doesn't get many layers or nuance in her writing.  Lulu becomes obnoxious and a bully to Brook Lynn and both characters SHOULD have flaws.
    • Totally here for Anita dumping Sharon in the past for first Dante Green, and then Vernon...
