Claudia actually did try to escape the La Mirage fire on Dynasty albeit off-screen.  It took something like 11 or 12 episodes of season 7 for Blake to be exonerated of starting the fire but eventually Jackie recounted To Krystle how she saw Claudia open the door of her room and then the flames shot out from behind her.  That's how they were able to determine that Claudia started the fire.  I hated that plot device because of a) how badly the show treated Pamela Bellwood who had just given birth and b) for killing Claudia in such a grisly manner especially considering the fact that she was an original cast member.

it's quite alright, thanks for the second scene, glad you like the topic, i have two more in store as soon this one gets "cold"

The Real Thing happened on the Season 7 Premiere

Some People say Claudia just gave up, Because she didn't have anything to live for, made sense to me until hearing Jackie's testimony saying she tried to escape but got trapped what actually made me sad

Would like to see the other one you mentioned too, thanks for this Clip, i knew there were other fires in Bay City Including the Love Mansion Getting Burned Down a few times in the 1980's but when i searched i couldn't find any so i went with the one i always remembered

Anna Rossini is the reason i decided to do this one, Also There's The Fire That Killed Melissa Aggretti

YES! Just wish Melissa didn't die, her leaving was one of the shows biggest losses

She would've been better off being Killed on the Moldavian Massacre

You'd think a five-star resort like La Mirage would have a state-of-the-art sprinkler system -- or at the very least, curtains that weren't so damn flammable, lol.

The very first time I saw Blake attempt to strangle Alexis, I seriously believed he was going to suffer a heart attack or stroke and collapse on the stairs.  "Whatever happens," I thought, "they're not actually gonna have him literally try to kill her.  Because there's no way that's not gonna look foolish."  I was so wrong.

I love the way Angela says, "Julia, get up!".  It's like Angie isn't so much frightened for Julia (and herself) as she is annoyed with her for passing out.

This, IMO, was DYNASTY's finest hour.  It's the one time where everything - the writing, the acting, the music, the special effects - clicked.

According to the AWHP 1988 synopsis The Love mansion burned down in February and I guess Donna miscarried soon after. Also at that time they talked about Reginald's having starting a fire to cover up his murder of Elizabeth years ago and also pass it off as a suicide?

Little Kevin Thatcher was in two separate fires in 1984. David Thatcher started a fire in his house for the insurance money and had to save Kevin. And then at Christmas the tree in the Matthews house caught fire and Mark Singleton had to regain the ability to walk in order to rescue Kevin from that fire.

Remember how Kristin Davis' character on MELROSE PLACE died?  She was drunk, whining about how everyone had abandoned her and nobody loved her (which was true, I guess, although she really brought it on herself), when she accidentally slipped, hit her head on the side of the notorious pool and drowned.

If you were an actress, and you were on an Aaron Spelling series BITD, and your character was slated to die, the chances were good that your character was not going to die with some dignity, lol.

    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last three months or so.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
    • Interesting. Makes me wonder how the day to day looked for Secret Storm at this point in the run. This seems very to deal with the psychological aspect, I guess the "inner storm", and the music is almost sinister. If this is from 1974 there's not much room for dates it could've been from as it ended on February 8th.  It's hard to tell from an edit featuring just one storyline, but if this was the day to day it might've been heavy for the casual viewers.   ETA: Stephanie Braxton is credited to have appeared as Laurie from 1970-1973. David Gale is credited only in 1973 and Alexander Scourby from 1972-1973. I know IMDB isn't always right, but I'd say this is likely 1973 - I'm guessing all these characters exited before 1974 and this might be a part of their final storyline.
    • Well, they were both involved with Ray Gardner.  Then, the actress left in 1980, only to return as a somewhat broader interpretation of the character after Dottie was SORASed.  By that time, Opal had left in 1983.  So, while they serve the same story function,(verbally abusive/neglectful mothers who make you feel sorry for their daughters), one could argue that Edna was the carbon copy.
    • Okay, now it's my turn to ask about the Thorntons, namely Edna. Did she and Opal have any scenes together? I ask because I was familiar with Opal first, so when I found out about Edna, my biased mind saw her as the first try for that type of character.
    • There is no dispute that Jill Farren Phelps had a successful career in daytime based on longevity, but that does not preclude discussion and dislike of her decisions at various shows. Sure there may have been some misogyny involved BITD(we don't know as I don't recall JFP ever mentioning that) but the head of CBS Daytime at that point was a woman and there were other women involved BTS. I think that so long as an EP could deliver, or at least talk a good game they would be respected.
    • It surprises/disappoints me too that GL's ratings during '89-'93 don't reflect the quality of the show. But when I call it great soap, I'm not defining that by ratings either.  I'm probably in the minority, but I think Reilly takes something intangible with him when he goes. There's a sense of humor that just disappears in '93.
    • Ok, I know nothing about Another World except their catchy intro song from long ago, but this makes me want to catch!  That crazy mother keeping her son's girlfriend or wife hostage, wow!
